I have two beautiful, precious daughters. There the best girls God has ever created and have there daddy wrapped around there pinky's. My oldest is 6 and I would love nothing more than to hunt with her. However, she is scared of the gun shot. I bought her a really nice pair of ear muffs, but she still won't go. I don't want to pressure her and turn her against it, but I want to go with her so bad. I just got a bow, so that might be a start. How many of you hunt with your daughters and when/how did you start them? Thanks

Unbelievable! You da man! Great job!:D

I shoot a h & r 30-30. It's a sweet shooting gun and I have killed several deer including 2 decent bucks. I don't think you can go wrong as a starting rifle.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I really enjoy making these things and have come along way. I found my very first call the other day and it was horrible. Thanks again.

Here are some of my calls I turn. The wood is cocobolo and I can get just about any wood. In the last picture is a ink pen I made from deer antler. I made these calls to donate to a church that is having a sportsman banquet tuesday night. I believe David Blanton is the key speaker. Tell me what you think. If you are interested in getting a call, send me a pm. Deer calls -$40 Duck calls-$40 Deer Antler $40 (While antler supplies last) Once I recieve your payment, allow 2-3 weeks for delievery.

What to do when your spouse wants to go hunting?
turningcustomcalls replied to jaret's topic in Deer Hunting
Take her with you. If deer aren't moving- make out! -
Thanks everyone for your help. Here is the second part of my question- Do you dial your bows in, inside a controlled enviroment, like a indoor range or outside?
-
On my bow I have my sights set at 20, 30, 40 yards. When sighting in my bow, should I have my 20 yard pin hitting bullseye?

A couple years ago I recieved a cva optimum for my b-day. I am shooting 100 grain pyrdex pellets and a 240 grain TC Mag Sabots. I have a 3x9x40 scope. My question is... can I up my grain to 150? The barrell says that it is a magnum and I was told you can shoot 150 as long as it says magnum. My other question is, would the extra pellet make that big of a difference?

H & R Handi-Rifle chambered in 30-30. I like the size, the fact that it is a single shot break, and is very accurate. I have shot many deer with this gun, all sizes and distances. No problem so far.

Thin or medium CA Glue! You can get it from woodcraft or any wood working store/website. It's what I use to glue together my calls. It is awsome. Don't get it on your skin though. DAMHIKT.

Yea, i was expecting someone to jump infront of the camara. Kinda like the huge "dead" snake video. Kinda like the virgin mary face i saw in my toast:D

I'm shooting the bear trx and i have pins set at 20,30,40. I had a 10 and took it out. I believe less is more. I may even take out the 40 yard pin.

My dad also taught me that pee would scare off all the deer. This has been a helpful thread. I have always wondered about that. Thanks

Chronic Wasting Disease - what do you know about it?

Chronic Wasting Disease - what do you know about it?
turningcustomcalls replied to Bachflock's topic in Deer Hunting
I will tell you what little bit I know...last year it effected the deer in Kentucky pretty good. From my understanding the slang term is "blue toungue". The disease is transmitted by a nat and is carried from animal to animal. It can also effect cattle herds but where we lived it hit only the deer population. Once the deer was bit by the nat, it begins to run a high fever. Therefore it seeks water to try and bring down there body temp. It also effects the nervous system and causes erract behavior. What usually kills the animal is the swelling of the tongue and the airway becomes closed off, hence "blue tongue". This usally occurs in a 24-36 hour period. Where we lived I had farmers tell me they were finding anywhere from 4-10 deer at a time on the creek banks of there property. One guy found 4 piled up while bush hogging. They never made it to the creek and died in a corner of a hayfield. That's what little bit I know about it. I now live in North Carolina and have not heard people around here talk about it. Hope this helps. -
My guess would be upper 140's-150.

South Alabama Hunting Club Memberships
turningcustomcalls replied to BamaTrae's topic in Classifieds
I use to live in mobile and would have jumped at the chance to join this club. However, the Lord has moved us to North Carolina where I pastor. As youngbuck already asked, the membership dues and exact location would be helpful. Good luck recruiting members! -
I love mine. Great for low light situations.

That's what I'm talking about!

I picked up a arm gaurd the other day and it took care of the problem. It also helped my shooting knowing I wouldn't get popped. I shot much tighter groups.
