Asheville itself is pretty far left but he surrounding area isn't. You aren't too far from prime hunting grounds in western NC and eastern Tenn. Asheville is a great jumping off place, you could even make it down in to north western South Carolina from there. You are in the heart of the Smoky Mountains in Asheville.

Okay, I see Steve has gotten this up and managed to capture a picture from my web site of the style knife we are talking about here. This style has a 3 1/2 inch Drop point blade. High Bidder gets his or her choice of Handle material. I have some choice Sambar Stag laid back that I would be willing to put on this knife if the winner so chooses. As some of you may or may not know we can no longer get Sambar Stag for use as handle scales here in the States anymore, so this would make this knife even more unique.

Okay, I posted this earlier in Youth and Hunting but I guess it is in the wrong place because it is not getting much response (0) over there. I have a new Grandson (6 months old) tomorrow, and while some may say it is too early I for one don't think so. I am looking to get his first gun for him for Christmas, I already have his first Crossbow and will make his first knife. I am thinking about the "Chipmunk". What do you folks think or are there others you feel I should be looking at. Thanks for your input.

The G10 grips are nice but can be slick if not finished properly. I prefer something with some grip to it. Check gunbroker.com, they have a whole section on aftermarket grips for all types fo guns.
