I would start now but not go out a lot because you want to find where they are bedding. There are some that have started dropping now here in Illinois and Iowa. My first ones I found last year where Jan. 3rd and it was a match set with 12 points. You can see where they are walking in the snow also. Just dont over do it because you dont want to push them out of the area. I just like to go early to catch the early drops and some dead deer that where lost by hunters or myself. Now is the best time to check fence rows, creek crossings, edge of fields by roads, or any other spot that they will jolt to run or jump. Good luck and hope the best for you.
