  1. I would start now but not go out a lot because you want to find where they are bedding. There are some that have started dropping now here in Illinois and Iowa. My first ones I found last year where Jan. 3rd and it was a match set with 12 points. You can see where they are walking in the snow also. Just dont over do it because you dont want to push them out of the area. I just like to go early to catch the early drops and some dead deer that where lost by hunters or myself. Now is the best time to check fence rows, creek crossings, edge of fields by roads, or any other spot that they will jolt to run or jump. Good luck and hope the best for you.
  2. WAY TO GO MOTORCITY KITTY! My guys just did not want to play this week! Nice job and it was fun. Thanks to all and a BIG thanks for the commish! Out of three fantasy league championship games I was in I finished 2nd in all of them. What a bad week for me. Two are money leagues and here are the points I lost by in all of them. My $80 league I lost by 1 point with Manning sitting half of the Indi game, my $25 league I lost by 1.4 points, and this league I lost by 19! What a year!
  3. My hat is off to you! Way to go! That is one that will be tough to beat!
  4. Very nice fish! I have never caught any fish like that. Looks like they would put up a nice fight!
  5. Now it is getting close to shed season so get his sheds if you dont tag him before the end of hunting season.
  6. I had whisker on but at negative degrees outside a nice big boy heard my arrow as I pulled back and off he ran. Now I shoot with the QAD Ultra Dropaway. The best hands down by far. Keeps arrown there and no noise.
  7. The sheds in Illinois that I know of for fact as of right now are in Lake County, LaSalle County, & Peoria County. I keep hearing from others it seems like every day. I am not to happy because I am laid up for my knee. I hope I get walking soon. Good Luck! I then seen this post on Iowa too! This is way early!
  8. Nice finds! I really enjoy the "As They Lay" Photo's.
  9. Thanks for the great comment! I am glad it was a hit! My wife was on my butt last night on doing some more. I can not handle much right now due to knee surgery so hearing that sheds are dropping too is killing me. They just took out my 27 staples yesterday. I hope I can walk soon I want to get out really bad. I am not used to sitting on my butt and that is driving me nuts. I think that is why my wife wants me to get doing my cooking. LOL
  10. They have started dropping here in Illinois too. I am laid up with knee surgery but a buddy has found a right side of a nice 10 pointer. Cant wait to see pictures!
  11. It must be a team thing because I did the same thing in October and cut the bush down and tossed it in the river. LOL I hope that you get that 8 Pointer. I have a 10 pointer on the wall and want to get a 140 class or better 8 pointer to go up there with him. My hunting spot produces a bunch of small 8's and then they become big 10's or bigger. I have yet to see a really nice 8 pointer. I have a few really big boys but they travel at night. I have only seen the one but that I have found sheds to the past two years once during light. The other times my trail cam has got him very early in morning or very late at night. Hope you get your buck and hope he lives untill you do.
  12. Well, I am and a few people have seen deer with missing horns from one to both sides. I have one guy found one on December 20th of a 10 pointer. I am getting upset because I am laid up with knee surgery. They just took out my staples today. Only 27 of them! I am wanting to get walking myself!
  13. It will take a while for smell to get out of the pores. I also have found that if you put some of the fresh sheds in a closed container they will start to stink. Airing out is the best for all antlers! You will just have to watch for sun fade now. If you have a porch that you can hang it under would be better. Tie a rope to antler then boards of ceiling of porch roof. That way it is out of the sun and the dang squirrels. As one of my T-shirts says "Save a Shed Shoot A Squirrel"!!
  14. Down to the final two!!! Well Motorcity Kittys, it is up to you and I now to see who is the top Dawg! Good luck and I hope you are ok with being the first LOSER! LOL Just kidding! May the best team win!
  15. Good one to start with! Way to go!
  16. That is great! I wish more ladies would get involved. My wife does not like it and my daughter can not wait. She has to get a few more years till I will let her hunt but plan on taking her with me this coming year.
  17. Got mine back. I copied picture then loaded on photobucket then put image url in my signature spot on profile. It worked!
  18. Boy the pain this morning is killing me I am up at 4:00am. This sucks!
  19. Well, I took off brace and bandage to clean up leg and I about crapped. I did not think this was going to be this big of a surgery cut! WOW! Here is a picture of my knee. I counted 27 staples! OUCH! Need to heal fast for shed season! Hunting season is about over so go get them guys we need more points!
  20. That is a lot of different animals and I agree that the Eagles are great!
  21. Yup that was a great comeback! I beat you in Week 3 then you got me in Week 12. Nice comeback and it was great playing with everyone on here. I have one more match and hope that I come out at the top! It looks like Motorcity Kitty's and I are back at it again!
  22. Cant really tell with these pictures but if I would have to guess I would say 3 1/2 and maybe 140 class.
  23. That is why I hate the late season for shotgun season for Illinois because it is antlerless and deer have shed some already. So the doe that you think you are shooting is actually a monster buck that shed his horns. They should make it at the start of season and even then it would be tough because of fawns. I just dont like it because the big boys that you think will be there next year got smoked on an antlerless hunt! Sad!
