Stone Cold

I saw one at the Illinois deer & turkey classic a few years back and I loved the idea of that. Now I would have to fill the tag! I will see if I have the picture of it still. I hope that I do that way I can show you what it looked like. The stand was about 4 feet tall and then there was a spot that the mount mounted to just over the base. It was really cool.

Applied already for Wayne County and the cost went up 15 dollars! I wonder what non residents went up to?

I would not put the sheds on a string nor mount them. I would get a pedistal made to mount you deer on then lay the sheds in a fake grass or stick/leave area like you found them on the top with you buck just over them. That would be the greatest mount there. I was almost in your boat but had some bad luck that day. I had my trail cam up and got three pictures of a very nice 12 point buck in 2008. January 3rd I found both antlers about a foot apart. Then during hunting season in 2009 I shot at the big boy and hit a berry bush limb and it deflected over his back and that was the last I saw of him. I got another trail cam picture and he lost two of the nontypical points on right side. No one ever claimed him and no sheds found so not sure where he went but he was seen after season so he did live. I then met a new friend that hunt about 5 miles from where I live and he found an antler that has to be of the same buck from a couple years back. Got another monster today! Where are my big boys?

I use the tags to put the year I found them and then the score when I score them. The bigger ones will then be retagged when I get the official score from a scorer from the NASHC. I have 10 in the record books right now and I have 7 more to be scored counting this set from this year and last years antlers. Last year was a great year for me with 4 of the sheds being big ones. Here are the other sheds to be scored besides the two above. One is another set from last year and that is my best set to date. Here is a 5 point and I have pictures I took of this bad boy! This is a nice 5 point! Here is another 5 point! Here is my best set to date with it being a 5x7! I cant not wait to see official score! I have three trail cam pics of this big boy too! I will add them in after antlers! This trail cam pic was from 2009 and I think it is the same buck! What do you all think? You can see my treestand right behind him too! Wish I was in it and it was light out!

For the ones who asked about my match set here ya go. Here is a better look at them. They were my best sheds this year and 2nd best set ever that I have found. I was sure happy to find them.

We have a ton of redtails but they never let me get close enough to get them with my camera. One day I will! All this sneaking up with my camera helps for deer season! LOL They always say practice makes perfect!

Here are my first MONSTER catch's for the year that I got today! The wind was really bad so did not stay out long! And the biggest of the day!

This spot where I was at has a flock of about 50 of them and I cornered around 12 of them in a cove on the river. They where running through the last opening to get around me and I got that picture. The other of them are not as good due to trees or grass blocking part of their bodies. I have never shot a turkey and want to get one with the bow really bad but one day we will cross paths and it will be their mistake!

I got pictures of yotes numorous times with flash going. I have two in a row with 30 sec delay where he was looking up then looking at camera. I dont think the flash bothers them to much!

I am actually in Central Illinois! Pontiac, Il to be exact!

My muscle is about 75% but it feels really good. I am hitting the weights now to get muscle back. I did not realize that it would take that long to get back. Feels 100% better though that is what counts! Thanks for asking!

Well, it has been fun and my season is over unless I find one while morel hunting. The woods are getting really green and soon everything will be covered in green. Now if I find one it will be by mistake. I am not happy with my totals due to being down by 11 from last season. This year I ended up with 16 sheds and 4 dead bucks.

Well, this is what I got today with a doe fight at the end! The other doe you can hardly see her. It was really funny to watch! Now the fight!

There was two of them and the other flew on other side of river. There are some nests in this area and I am wondering if one is theirs. I am going to go back in a few days to hit the same spot to see if I can sneak in there to get a better one. They busted me first this time and I hope I get them first this time. LOL

Thank you all for the comments! This doe has been in our timber for a while now. Most hunters in the area have agreed to keep hands off due to seeing if she will produce some full albinos or piebald deer of her own. If she gets older and no luck I might just have to take her out and mount her whole body! That would be really cool!
