  1. Man what a deer, I say he is in the 220-230 range non-typical. I hope one day to get a shot on a monster like that
  2. Thx guys, I was looking around and found some members that are 4 points with a little over a 100 post. I figured at 25, it would be a spike but not yet, guess i'll keep typing, ....lol
  3. Get off of Fawn Status, I am tired of being spotted....(lol) Is it determined by the time frame you are a member or how many post you put up, if so how many before I get some %$#& horns........THX
  4. Very Nice 1st buck man, congrats
  5. Nice Deer, congrats to ya!!!
  6. Nice 1st Buck with a bow. Now you a spoiled....lol
  7. Looks typical to me. ^%$# what a deer, all that mass and webbing, they can call it what they want too, I'd be proud of me if I had stuck it.
  8. I have to agree with Pointing Dogs Rule, I can't think of a situation where I would push a wounded deer, good shot or bad. I wait at least 20-30 minutes even when I hear the crash....Just my style though.
  9. My guess is he's in the water, at this point he is no good but would be nice to find him for the rack, still can be mounted with another cape. Only thing I can say is give it a day on two more and look for the buzzard's.
  10. Looks typical to me too. I guess it's up to the judges though, regardless, it's one heck of a deer, whole buncha mass.....fine deer. Sure would be proud of me if I would have stuck it......they can call it what they want, would'nt matter to me.
  11. Gotta Luv It.....If You Don't It Will Make You Luv It...Might Drive You Crazy Sometimes, But Everyday Is Different.....Go Get "Em.....................Good Luck
  12. I would hunt there in the a.m., and if it didn't pay off, move in on him tomorrow evening early. His nose to the ground, I would scent up my boots with some Tinks or whatever you use. Walk in the woods as close to the area (trail) he was, then to your stand, walk around in front of your stand b4 you go up, to keep him occupied and help set up the shot. Just my $.02.........Good Luck......I hope you get him. B.T.W.---I'm guessing you get off FAWN status by the # of post you put up. I have been a member since Sept. 08 but still a fawn, I was innactive for a long time. What is the #'s to progress to a bigger buck....Lol
  13. Moved it this afternoon to a different spot, too windy here to hunt today though. Still have high burst of wind from Ida. I will be there in the morning though.
  14. Found another thread that answers all my ???'s. Guess I should have looked first, it appears that mine that is not the only one that smokes, is not odorless, and spooks deer...THX Guys
  15. Well I started a thread last night about the ThermaCELL, wished I would have looked before typing, all my questions was answered here. Mine does smoke, and I can smell it as well, we all know if we can smell it, the deer can smell it. I hunt in a swamp in Louisiana and definetly need something. The ThermaCELL does a heck of a number on the skeeters, but it has spooked deer twice for me. Kinda scared to use it again, but like some of the others, guess I have no choice if I wanna hunt.......THX Guys
  16. Might just be the area I'm hunting, an oak bottom, in the swamp, maybe too much of it accumilated, and the deer did come in from behind me----down wind. Maybe just a bad experience.
  17. HEY FELLOW BOWHUNTERS------Dont know if i'm missing something here. I need some opinions on using ThermaCELL while bowhuntin'. This is my first year using one, and have been busted twice. I thought the ThermaCELL is promoted in commercials as being odorless, well mines not. It puts out a light smoke, and odor similar to rubber burning after it heats up. Is this normal? I have retired it after using it twice. It did run off the skeeter's, (along with the deer) I sat there all evening waiting on, hoping for a shot. In my opinion they aren't worth a %$#@. The commercial just came on and again, and I heard it say odorless once again. Sounds like a bunch of crap to me. I am not hunting in an open field, I am set up down wind in a swamp, using Dead Down Wind as a cover scent. Anyone else been busted while using a ThermaCELL? Would really like to know before I sell it to another sucker!!!cheap...................THX
  18. On camera last yearFor those that like to read: Jan. 4th 2007 I shot and missed a 8 point in a tight spot I was hunting,( no time for a second shot). After the shot he stood there for a second as another bigger buck ran around him and the 2 deer bolted in the woods. For the next three days I lived in the woods until finally killing the one I missed on Jan. 7th 2007 (exactly 2 years between the 8 and 10). Last year I set my camera up in the same spot with a feeder, and hoped for the best to no avail. I did capture this picture though. This is the deer I think ran around the 8 point on Jan. 4th 07, I know this is the deer I killed as a 10 point 1-7-09. I know this because if you notice he is holding his right leg up, the 10 point I killed last Wed. Jan. 7th 2009 was injured on his right leg. In the joint where he bends his leg was the size of a baseball, with scar tissue on both sides. In my mind I have been chasing this particular deer for 2 years.
  19. !!!thx guys!!! I owe it all to him,and I won't forget that. I can't tell him that we are not going to see anything there anymore. By the way we been back to the ''Condo" 3 times now, nothing has showed up ,but he told me to be patient and another BUCK might come out. He loves to go, I bought him a 243 for Christmas,(he's kinda timid of it now) but maybe next year he will harvest his 1st deer.
  20. THX, Shorty It was a dream a come true and I owe it all to my son for wanting to go hunting.
  21. Kelly Amacker Photo taken in Washington, Louisiana 10 Point Gross Score 143 6/8 click image for a closeup On Jan.7th, I came home from work with all intensions on going to the woods to hunt one of my lock-ons,because my food plot is under water and I had not been seeing any deer on my food plot where my 'Condo' is. My 5 yr old son Aarron got mad at me for wanting to go to the lock-on, because he wanted to go and the 'Condo' is the only stand I will take him too. Well after 5 minutes of fit throwing , I gave in and told him ok, we will go to the 'Condo' but if we do not see anything this might be last trip he goes on this year. At 4:57 p.m. I saw a doe on the other end of the food plot (a.k.a.pond)I reached for my gun, got it out the window, then grunted, at 5:00p.m. this buck came in, behind the doe. I could not find him in the scope, so I looked back down the food plot, saw him and grunted again. This time I found him in the scope, and fired as he was turning to walk away from me. He was shot with a 7mmWSM at 165yds. After about 30 minutes I went to where he was standing and recovered this 190 lb. 10 point, about 40 yards away. His gross wet score is 143 6/8. Thanks Aarron, for takin' daddy huntin' so he could kill his biggest deer he has ever seen in the woods!
  22. Stickers Thx, Vermonthunter we received the package today, and also received the Tru Glo I guess from BackWoods07, Thx to you also.
