I have a Remington Model 7 Predator model in .223. It is completely camoflaged so you don't have to worry about the dogs seeing the barrel wave. It is light enough that you can walk all day and it won't feel like your carrying a block of cement. Finally the cartrige is powerfull enough you can shoot out to at least 300 yards.

My advice is to stay with the ladder stands. Much safer and easier to use in my opinion.

You guys that don't like the Kimbers must have hands the size of baseball gloves. They are slim classic style rifles. If I could get one for $150.00 more than a Vanguard I wouldn't even be thinking about it. Give me the phone number of that gun store I want to call them. However, I do agree you have to buy what feels best to you. I have a Vanguard in 257 Weatherby Magnum. I kills deer like they were hit by lightning.

I see lots of 7 WSM here. They are all on the used gun racks. Not even considering that though the 7 WSM is a little light for moose. I would stay away from any of the short magnums. I think they are just a fad and in a few years ammo will be hard to come by. If it was me I would go with the Browning in either a plain old 30-06 or a 300 Win. Mag. It would be a shame to loose a trophy of a life time because you didn't bring enough gun. A moose is a big animal and takes a lot of killing.

DO NOT USE TIDE, It has UV brightener. Deer see better in the UV spectrum than we do. If you use the Tide you will be glowing like a blue light special light at K-Mart Deer hunters should never wear blue anything.
