Personal testimony thread
Whitetail Freak Hunter replied to Missilelock's topic in The Spiritual Camp
Back on Nov 05, 2007 I gave this testimony on another forum board, and so this is a copy and paste of that same testimony given to all of them there. I was missing the Mark Nov 05, 2007 As an archer and bowhunter, I’m sure you can understand what I mean when I say, I was missing the mark. As I continue you will soon gain insight to what I really mean here. Many years ago, I gave my life over to Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior, but like many I fell by the wayside letting other things distract me taking me down this road and that. I would bounce back into the ever loving arms of Jesus allowing Him to be in control, and then for what ever reason begin to stray once more. Several months ago, I came to this forum under a different log on name. As I began to get known, I was invited to tell all about myself in the “Tell Us About You” forum. I thought no harm would come of this. I was soon contacted by one of the members who I will not expose here as it will serve no purpose in doing so, but we soon became close friends, and then very, very close friends. We begun to text message each other, call on the phone and soon I was swept away which was leading me so far from where I should have been as a Christian. I was doing things that no professing Christian should be doing. I think back now and can see how sin was taking me farther and farther from the fellowship that I should have been seeking from my Lord and Savior. Instead I was seeking a relationship with the devil, and almost paid a very high price for it. In my signature line, you will notice a verse 2 Timothy 2:22 “Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.” NLT In a book that I am currently reading, “Another Look At Life From a Deer Stand” by Steve Chapman, I found great comfort in finding this verse that I have read before, but had been long forgotten. It’s like the Lord was showing me his great kindness and forgiveness was there again, as it always has been. I would like to give you these lyrics that Steve Chapman wrote: The Mark He’s the aim of my affection The One I want to please The target of petitions When I’m on my knees I can point to none more worthy Of my devoted heart Yet He’s the One who shows me mercy When I miss the mark Lord help me keep your holiness Always in my sights And the arrows of allegiance Straight and true in flight To the center of Your will Father guide my heart And I’ll thank You for Your mercy When I miss the mark In James 5:16 it says: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. NLT Some would ask, “why would you expose yourself like you did here on the forum? Well we read in James 5:16 for that answer. I have since asked the Lords forgiveness for what I had been doing. I hope this helps some one. Philippians 4:13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. NLT -

I wanted to share something with you all.... this last bowhunting season was pretty much a wash as a result of a left shoulder injury that prevented me from practicing for the up coming 2008 season. I was bummed out to say the least, but God provided a great buck during our rifle season just 2 days prior to my schedualed surgery. Well the surgery was on Nov 17th, 2008 where the surgeon removed 1" of collar bone along with the collar bone joint, bursa sack and did a RC tear repair. Well his views of bowhunting after such a surgery, was telling me that he believed I would never pull a bow again. Well I discovered that both my physical therapist are bowhunters as well, and they assured me that I would be bowhunting for the 2009 season. I have been doing all of my excersizes that were given me to do, and then I was placed on independant PT. That is basicly the workers comp people putting me on my own for my own accountability and program at the same gym. My physical therapist had asked me to start dry drawing my bow without releasing, just to get my left shoulder used to the bow being extended by my left arm. This was basicly no differant than the pully weight excersises at the gym. Well God is awesome when he gives us the desires of our hearts. Exactly 3 months to the day I was in Spirit Quest Archery here in Kalispell, Mt shooting my bow at just 10 pound draw weight less than I shoot normally. I'm drawing and shooting my bow with no disruption to my old form and ability. I was finding myself making good K-Zone shots at 10, 20, 30 and 40 yards, and just can't begin to tell you all just how excited this makes me. So I'm taking it slowly with just a couple days a week shooting for now. I know Jesus was speaking to others here about something totally differant, but this verse fits my situation. Luke 18:27 Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God." NIV

Ole and Sven die in a snowmobiling accident, drunker than skunks, And go to ****. When they arrive, the Devil observes that they are really enjoying themselves. He says to them 'Doesn't the heat and smoke bother you? Ole replies, 'Vell, ya know, ve're from nordern Meeshigan, da land of snow an ice, an ve're yust happy fer da chance ta varm up a little bit ya know.' The devil decides that these two aren't miserable enough and turns up the heat even more. When he returns to the room of the two guys from Meeshigan, the devil finds them in light jackets and hats, grilling Walleye and drinking beer. The devil is astonished and exclaims, 'Everyone down here is inabject misery, and you two seem to be enjoying yourselves?' Sven replies, 'Vell, ya know, ve don't git too much varm veather up dere at in Meeshigan, so ve've yust got ta haff a fish fry vhen da veather's dis nice.' The devil is absolutely furious. He can hardly see straight. Finally he comes up with the answer. The two guys love the heat because they have been cold all their lives. The devil decides to turn all the heat off in ****. The next morning, the temperature is 60 below zero, icicles are hanging everywhere, and people are shivering so bad that they are unable to wail, moan or gnash their teeth. The devil smiles and heads for theroom with Ole and Sven. He gets there and finds them back in their parkas, bomber hats, and mittens. They are jumping up and down, cheering, yelling and screaming like mad men. The devil is dumbfounded, 'I don't understand, when I turn up the heat you're happy. Now its freezing cold and you're still happy. Whatis wrong with you two?' They both look at the devil in surprise and say, 'Vell, don't ya know, if **** iss froze over, dat must mean da Lions yust von da Super Bowl.'

Cowboy rules Rules of Colorado , Wyoming , Montana , Utah , Idaho , and the rest of the Wild West are as follows: 1. Pull your pants up. You look like an idiot. 2. Turn your cap right, your head ain't crooked. 3. Let's get this straight: it's called a 'gravel road.' I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're gonna get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way. 4 They are cattle. That's why they smell like cattle. They eat and crap; smells like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? I-80 & I-90 go east and west, I-25 & I-15 goes north and south. Pick one and go. 5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $250,000 Combines that are driven only 3 weeks a year. 6. Every person in the Wild West waves. It's called being friendly. Try to understand the concept. 7. If that cell phone rings while a bunch of geese, pheasants, ducks, doves are comin' in during the hunts, we WILL shoot it outa your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time. 8. Yeah. We eat trout, salmon, deer and elk. You really want sushi and caviar?! It's available at the corner bait shop. 9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day of deer season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November. 10. We open doors for women. That's applied to all women, regardless of age. 11. No, there's no 'vegetarian special' on the menu. Order steak, or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham and turkey. 12. When we fill out a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables, and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup! Oh, yeah . . We don't care what you folks in Cincinnati call that stuff you eat . . IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!! 13. You bring 'Coke' into my house, it better be brown, wet and served over ice. You bring 'Mary Jane' into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair. 14. College and High School Football is as important here as the Giants, the Yankees, the Mets, the Lakers and the Knicks, and a dang site more fun to watch. 15. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards - it spooks the fish. 16. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump crap ain't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers! Refer back to #1! A true Westerner will send this to at least 10 others and a few new friends that probably won't get it, but we're friendly so we share in hopes you can begin to understand what a real life is all about!!!

Conceal Carry in National Parks
Whitetail Freak Hunter replied to Whitetail Freak Hunter's topic in Lounge
Let's hope it takes longer than this for that to happen. -
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap_travel/20081205/ap_tr_ge/travel_brief_guns_national_parks WASHINGTON – People will soon be able to carry concealed, loaded guns in most national parks and wildlife refuges. The Bush administration said Friday it is overturning a 25-year-old federal rule that severely restricts loaded guns in national parks. Under a rule to take effect in January, visitors will be able to carry a loaded gun into a park or wildlife refuge — but only if the person has a permit for a concealed weapon and if the state where the park or refuge is located also allows concealed firearms. The new rule goes further than a draft proposal issued last spring and would allow concealed weapons even in parks located in states that explicitly ban the carrying of guns in state parks. Some states allow concealed weapons but also ban guns from parks. "If you can carry (a gun) on Main Street, you are allowed to carry in a national park," said Chris Paolino. a spokesman for the Interior Department. The Interior Department rule overturns a Reagan-era regulation that has restricted loaded guns in parks and wildlife refuges. The previous regulation required that firearms be unloaded and placed somewhere that is not easily accessible, such as in a car trunk. Assistant Interior Secretary Lyle Laverty said the new rule respects a long tradition of states and the federal government working together on natural resource issues. The regulation allows individuals to carry concealed firearms in federal parks and wildlife refuges to the same extent they can lawfully do so under state law, Laverty said, adding that the approach is in line with rules adopted by the federal Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service. Those agencies let visitors carry weapons consistent with applicable federal and state laws. The National Rifle Association hailed the rule change, which will take effect next month before President-elect Barack Obama takes office. "We are pleased that the Interior Department recognizes the right of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families while enjoying America's national parks and wildlife refuges," said Chris W. Cox, the NRA's chief lobbyist. The rule will restore the rights of law-abiding gun owners on federal lands and make federal law consistent with the state where the lands are located, Cox said. The NRA led efforts to change gun regulations they called inconsistent and unclear. A group representing park rangers, retirees and conservation organizations said the rule change will lead to confusion for visitors, rangers and other law enforcement agencies. "Once again, political leaders in the Bush administration have ignored the preferences of the American public by succumbing to political pressure, in this case generated by the National Rifle Association," said Bill Wade, president of the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees. "This regulation will put visitors, employees and precious resources of the National Park System at risk. We will do everything possible to overturn it and return to a commonsense approach to guns in national parks that has been working for decades," Wade said. The park rule will be published in the Federal Register early next week and take effect 30 days later, well before Obama takes office Jan. 20. Overturning the rule could take months or even years, since it would require the new administration to restart the lengthy rule-making process.

With my left shoulder surgery happening on Monday at 1pm I resorted to using the ol Savage 99 in 308 Win. I had taken my S&W 629 along in case there was a close shot that could be taken. But I never thought it would happen like this: My son in-law invited me to his grandpa's property, where on Friday he shot a beautiful large bodied 10pt with his 30-06 and also told me that his pastor and a friend got several as well. I left the house early and arrived at the property gate at around 5:30am, and called since the gate was locked. Brett (son in-law) and his pastor came up and let me in, then I followed winding around down to where they had set up camp. We had some coffee and waited for Mike to wake up, and get the fire going. They couldn't wait to show me all the deer hanging under the old house that isn't used any longer. Brett was right this was a nice large bodied 10pt that if not for losing a tine would have been an 11 pointer with a double eye guard on the right side. I'm guessing his buck weight was probably @ 250 lbs. The other deer were a bit smaller as there were two other small bucks and two does. Well we headed back to the camp fire, where I dug out my Knight and Hail Rattle bag and new grunt call and demonstrated them a bit. After a bit I turned around and down from me about 200 yards was a large deer standing full broadside as if to be trying to zero in on the noise from the rattle bag or grunt call. I grabbed the Savage 99 and looked thru the scope and it was a nice large bodied buck with chacotate brown rack, I started to shake because of my left shoulder and shot. It was a miss and the buck just stood there as if not hearing anything at all, so I levered in another 180-gr WW 308 Win cartridge and when the cross hairs came down this time, touched off the trigger and watched the buck just drop in his tracks. The guy's just could not believe it.... no hiking for me, no tracking for me it was done by 8 am. Now here is my son in-laws buck next to mine, as you see his is the larger of the two. By the time we got home, my left shoulder was just nailing me hard but it was a great day with getting my buck first thing in the morning. I would have liked to have gotten the size of buck my son in-law did. But as we walked around the property the rest of the day no bigger one was found or rattled in, so I'm glad I took the buck I did.
