in 7 years!!!!! While at the Drs. with my mom the Dr. and I started talkin about hunting. He said he loved goose huntin but had no where to go. So being I had a spot I invited him to go. We went yesterday (a real clear sunny day) and had a blast. We saw a lot of action and he thanked me for such a great time. I told him to get ready for more huntin cause we were now hunting buddies and he said fantastic!!!!The limit is 2 per day on geese.....

cougar? Your thoughts...
oneshot replied to layin on the smackdown's topic in Varmint & Predator Hunting
Thats no bobcat, coyote or fox... That is a cougar.... I blew it up froze it and used a magnifying glass on it and it has the color, body structure and long tail with a black tip just like a cougar!!! I wouldn't bother with the DNR tho, they will deny it's a cougar cause they don't want to panic people!!!! -
Cute little bugger!!!! lol I hope you have a trapping license and it's still in season... A lot of people just set out traps in town and then get busted for illegal trapping and the fines can be very stiff....:jaw:

Hey buddy, congrats on owning a .223... Now for your question... Being that rifles will shoot ammo differently you can start at about 1 inch... However, you are misunderstanding the meaning of the trajectory calculations by Hornady... When it says zeroed at 200 yards it means just that, you need to zero it at 200 yards to be precise. To do this correctly you need to go somewhere you can safely shoot 200 yards. Then set up a rest for your rifle that will allow you to shoot with no movement of the rifle. Pick a calm windless day to get it as close to the center bull as possible. Once you have achieved this you can use the Hornady trajectory guide as just that, a guide. When you are doing actual shooting you will still need to adjust for wind speed, direction and so on... Once you have your rifle zeroed the best thing to do is practice, practice and more practice... Hang in there and you'll get it... :gun2::yes:

First shot at 100 yards cold bore with my Rem 700 .308 sniper rifle, in the bull. Then I put another shot at the top of the bull and continued to place each shot next to the other working to the left in line. That's what I have proof of now but it isn't my best....

Illinois is the same way, they just won't tell the truth!!!!! I don't believe anything the IDNR says!!!!! The biologists argued with me that coyotes don't hunt in packs (family groups) nor do coyotes attack people. Both those statements are toal lies!!!!

Hey Jesse, are ya gonna eat dat critter?????:eat:

What kind of coyote bait works best for you...?
oneshot replied to cblack06's topic in Varmint & Predator Hunting
For pics with a camera baiting is ok. To draw them in to hunt them not so good. You can bet they will hit that bait when you are not there to shoot them. Also if they have a full belly they may be more reluctant to even come in to a call. As far as baiting, a road killed deer would work great. But you better check the laws where you live, it might be illegal for you to do that......Good luck.... -
Thanks sureshot. The reason I'm asking is I do nuisance control and sometimes there are houses close by so you can see my concern on the pass thru. There are times when a shotgun isn't quite enough and I need the precision of a rifle. I also can not use personal loads due to liability issues so I just got a box of Black Hills 36 gr. V.G's. They say these will not ricochette so they should be much safer than the Hornady V-Max I have been using.
