  1. I couldnt afford to. I would busy myself turning all tillable land into food plots and my relatives would bury me.
  2. I have neglected facebook for the forums. And I am loving every minute of it.
  3. I don't have a cd player in either of my vehicles, but johnny cash and metallica are rotated in the tape deck
  4. Its the joy and meat that these deer give us that keeps us going.
  5. I get a new one every year and once the temp dips below 20, they all tend to freeze up on me. As far as tone/noise, I think all different bucks have all different sounding grunts and one reputable grunt call is as good as another.
  6. If its just for bowhunting, a cheap one that goes to 100 yards is more than enough. The ones that calculate the angle of shot are a gimmick. If you have a 30 yard shot and you are 20 feet up in a tree, the actual distance is 30.73 yards. Not enough for anyone to adjust for.
  7. he looks like he could be a great 3.5 year old. If you own alot of land I might let him walk. In northern wisconsin, against the orange wave and the wolves, that deer would be green lit...for sure.
  8. I took out the new reezen trying to sight it in with a new adjustable sight. The previous day I was at 60 yards. I took it out walked out to 20 yards let 'er rip and smack. Just over the target, glanced off the gravel, and went in the side wall of my friends back tire. Trying to move the car out of the way before the tire went flat, my friend backed it up and snap, the arrow went through the tire and into the wheel well and snapped off. Just got back from walmart. New tire $117, New maxima arrow $15, story that my friends will never let me live down...Priceless.
  9. My girlfriend is looking for new arrows. She shoots a diamond razors edge 26" draw 41 pounds. Any suggestions on brand, spine, that won't break the bank.
  10. Let it be unless he approaches you sounds like the right choice.
  11. Huge fan of this. The younger the better, with adult supervision of course. Lots of kids pick things they want to be when they are young, 4,5,6. If you wait til theyre 12 I think you lose alot of potential hunters.
  12. sorry, last post was not to discourage. when I started two years ago I was just like you. As long as you are not afraid to work, it will be a success for you. Feel free to ask any questions along the way. the forums are more than helpful. You have specific questions, i have extensive experience carving food plots out of the woods... as none of my land was ever pasture.
  13. I don;t think you were greedy. I think you were following your instincts and that is never wrong. Keep your head up and you will be walking home with meat and antlers
  14. I hate to sound like my girlfriend the biologist. However, I feel like I should share. H1N1 is a classification for a virus. 80% of all flus are H1N1. the swine flu H1n1, the regular flu H1n1, its like personal cars and trucks are H1n1 and semis are other kinds of the flu. Its a bs scare tactic by the media to drum up ratings. the whole thing is a joke and I want you guys to know...DON'T BUY INTO IT.
  15. I wanted to see that but I am caught up in cutting trails for some new land bought by my cousin. Priorities right?
  16. well it hasn't rained in northern wisconsin in over a month, so send some rain up here.
  17. Well jimmeny christmas, what a nice animal. I remember my first just two years ago and it makes me smile to see someone else sharing in the emotion of it all. This is your warning... whitetails are like a drug and elk are like getting hooked on a different one you can only satisfy once every or everyother year. Good luck... you opened pandoras wonderful box.
  18. I have shot with a stabilizer and without. i just don't like the feel of my new reezen with a stabilizer on it. Feels to front heavy. Dont want to discourage... just sharing.
  19. skipping everyone elses opinions. Go folding knife. safer all around. Tried and true for generations is a good ol' buck knife. Gander mountain $40. Still have mine from my dad going on 12 years now. ( why would you want to take away the chance of cutting the stomach with a gut hook) haha
  20. I don't know if I have the above metioned camera from a few years ago, but mine is a moultrie 4.0 with a flash and a 6v battery. Even in the summer I have only got 500 pics before the battery went dead. It might be something with my camera but I thought you should know.
  21. dogdoc- any ideas on why the deer might not be interested in the chicory even towards the end of the season? I know there could be a million reasons, but anything would be a place to start.
  22. If you truly are obsessed... $$$ are just a number you can make up for in january. Chase him down and get him... it will be worth it twice over!
  23. I have had a jennings, an outback, and now a reezen. the buckmaster is still my favorite... enjoy it little brother, when you are old enough to buy your own I am taking it back!
