AH HA!!!! man i don't miss that stuff at all... got it on me back when i was 10 years old on the rouge river in Oregon visiting a friend of my dads... all puffed up and itching like a cheap sailor... we don't have it up here... only thing i have to look out for is thorns on devils club and mosquitos...
  2. I just got sick of winter this year....
  3. Well i had THAT call from mom yesterday... happy easter and you need to come see your dad this year before he dies..... so i need to make some plans... my folks retired to Kingman AZ 6 years back and i have made a few trips to see them.. so i have to ask is there any hope for me to make any spring hunting trips if i come down in May?( he will be 69 may 24th) or is it all draw only? i would like to do a second around thanksgiving.. as dad and i have never deer hunted together, my dad taught me all i know about hunting and fishing and woodsman ship here in AK.. i would love to take him on one more trip if possible.. thanks for the input Vince
  4. hmmm well i shoot 28.5 on all my bows and rarley get hit. i know that this Z7 slapps like a drunk ticked off house wife when i hold it wrong thats for sure! the bruise where the welt was yesterday is testoment to that!
  5. NICE bird Rhino.. great write up also!
  6. we have one on a rossie frame. nice little gun, i would not hesitate to shoot a black bear with it. or a deer i guess, inside 100 yards. i also load my own ammo and use cast boolits ( hand made by a freind) those bullets form to, the barrel nicely and are extreamly accurate and retain good energy out to 100 yards with a load of N110 behind them..
  7. LOL yeah great.!!! and i wnat to know how to post a slide show too!!!
  8. exactly, i shoot the Z7 now.. still like my martins, have bowtechs in the house too... Bowtech had a bad run for a year or so also.. with a ton of limbs breaking. they survived it. and keep their good reputations. the one listed is ONLY one ... if a rash more start to show up then definantly keep an eye on it... but even winchester, has a gun breach on occasions.. shipping issues, or Monday morning Friday evening assemblaly... something went wrong for that bow some where.. perhaps it was dry fired in the shop by a previous handler? Both bowtech and Mathews are great brands.. as are most the others. and i will still shop Martin before anyother brand
  9. happy birthday john!
  10. i dont think many are shooting them yet... our pro shop has a demo.. and he is not allowed to sell them for one year yet.... i shot it. and it is nice... not 1600.00 nice but nice... prolly the first hoyt i have liked to shoot...
  11. oh i am only getting aobut 1 in 10 slapping me.. just got lazy this winter. and a new bow to learn... but would like to know how folks lean with training aides...
  12. well the welt on my left arm is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i can tell when my form is slacking when the string slapps my arm.. do you use an arm guard? what are the pros and cons of it... aside from the zinging stinging ZAPPOLA.... i just had the wife video me and seen my shoulder drooping slightly... man am i out of shape... getting the new Z7 worked in got a 30 yard range set up today... what other tips you got to help form and consistancy ... been a long fattning winter thats for sure. vince
  13. retire them from large bow service... if you wish to salvage them SOME... i cut broken or splinterd arrows down for the kids bows,, ( 20lb and under) and re fletch them. little ones can go through a lot of bad arrows before they need quality based on size of kids, bow weight, and accuracy they are achieving.. up here they have to shoot a minimum of 40lbs before they can hunt any game with a bow,, so if there is enough good arrow left make some youth ones.....
  14. for smoking sausage... you really want a smoker you can regulate the temp on.. 160-180 -200 degrees in those steps are required for quality sausage... i use a propane fired binkman and make plenty.. i like to hang them in the smoker.
  15. I am jealious... mine is still snow coverd mud with dozer marks in it.....

  20. headed out next week ( i hope) to set up the camp again... spring bear, fall moose, caribou and sheep all in one camp.. plus grayling fishing in the creek, our ONLY issue is keeping the danged grzz bears from eating stuff during the summer closed season. we found we can NOT keep Gas on site.. the eat every jug or drum....
