Thats a tough call, sounds like you're locked in for another couple of years. Gives you time to square up any loose ends and get the house on the market anyhow...? That was a bit of a battle for me, my wife had never lived anywhere but the house she was raised in on LI. And as we know, as far as Long Islanders are concerned; the entire universe revolves around the Tri-State area and anything north of Westchester is the boonies....lol. She eventually came around and now absolutely loves where we live. Small town (2500 people), affordable (She's a stay at home mom), and the sense of community we have here just doesn't exist down there. And honestly its only 4.5 hours by car to her parents. That was key, if it was up to me we'd live in an off grid camp in Northern NH somewhere, but this is a good compromise. The best part is that my Mother in Law treats it like we're up in the Arctic tundra or something. She refuses to drive here alone, she acts as if we're living some sort of frontier life and only visits once a year during the Summer. Thats JUST FINE with me! You should've seen the look on her face when she realized that I take the recyclables and trash to the dump myself.."Don't they do that for you?!". But this Nanny-State dependency runs rampant down there, and thats why you're going to see these bans.

Yup..... I'm a native lawn-guy-landuh. Born in Amityville, moved down south to NC for several years and then back. Lived out in the Islip area most recently. My in-laws still live in East Islip. Can't say I miss it at all, with the exception of the beaches and fishing. How's this for irony, in 1988 I was on the West Islip HS Rifle Team. We had a beautiful range in the basement of the High School. No one even knows if it exists anymore. I also have family in West Islip still, my uncle is not much of a hunter or shooter, but he's a lifelong avid fisherman and a member of several sportsman clubs. I spoke with him yesterday and he said that they've called a meeting to discuss a plan of action. He's written his legislation as well. My Grandmother, myself, and another Uncle are land owners in Essex County NY (ADK's) and with their blessing I've written separate letters from us.

I was just thinking the other day its been almost 6 years since we left NY. Best move I ever made. Not only a far better lifestyle, but affordable as well. I'm glad I was in a position to get out when I did. Years ago I started the process to get a CCW in Suffolk county, ridiculous to say the least. NYS Government is a joke. I recently saw a John Stossel clip about guns. He mentioned that people in NY and DC are completely ignorant to the fact that we can legally conceal a weapon in the majority of the country. "Isolated from reality" is more like it. Is your boy committed to finishing school where he is, or is he willing to move? Could you commute from PA if necessary?

9 mos pregnant at the range, that requires a photo!! lol! I had a Hi - Point in the .40 for a couple years. Extremely reliable and accurate. Not a gun you'd want to try and conceal though.

This guy wasn't meeting expectations laid out by his bosses, and then chose to walk away instead of playing by the rules....... you actually sound like a very gracious boss.

I think its the fact that its a hot button issue at the moment and every incident makes that National news.

Still around fellas, 535 hit the nail on the head..... been working like a madman since the middle of Dec. Had co-workers go out on early maternity leave at both jobs at the same time! The OT has been unending. Couple that with working 1900 - 0700 ... I don't even know what day it is half the time. I'm grateful to be able to get the extra $ however, gotta get it while the getting is good! It's been really busy as well, had 3 babies on ventilators the other night with Influenza and RSV. We're having a substantial Pertussis outbreak here in the North East also. We can thank the anti-vax crowd for that.

Thats just offensive! Everybody knows burning that much ink in your stove will lead to immense creosote build up! Besides, the cost-to-BTU ratio is way to high for my cheap butt.

I agree with the above sentiments, and you're essentially preaching to the choir.... but I'm noticing a trend. That trend is that automatic tactical rifles have become somewhat of a fasion statement... and that's dangerous. VThunter makes a great point, yes his service should qualify him for ownership. I don't have the answer either, but if I had to take a 6 or 8 hour class with some range time in order to own an AR, I wouldn't have an issue with that. Mind you I'm not suggesting a ban, just education. I'm also aware of the Feds immaculate track record when it comes to bureaucracy....ultimately it should be left up to State Govt. Just like a million other things that the Feds want to micromanage.

Glad you liked it! Enjoy!!

Yea, he's an idiot. So called "journalist" who does nothing but inject opinion into his interviews. Signed it. ETA: You'll have to set up an account at whitehouse.gov to sign petition.

I belong to 2 clubs here, 1 has a range open to the public... and the yahoos that show up at that place with their .223 autos is frightening. I know of several people who've spent $1000+ on an AR and have never owned another firearm. Not to mention they couldn't hit the side of a barn at 50 yds. We'll spend a couple hours at the table and put 10 rounds through the gun, concentrating on accuracy. Some of these guys go through a hundred rounds in a few minutes just squeezing the trigger as fast as they can. And they all love to talk about home protection, yet non of them own a shotgun.... or have even put any thought into a plan other than buying the meanest gun they can find. More than once I've packed up and left because someone was handling the gun unsafely. It's for this reason that I'm all for a training requirement in order to own an automatic tactical rifle.

I watched it, and I thought it fell short. Waiting to make a statement was the right move, but to come out and suggest putting armed guards in schools only addresses a small portion of the problem and ignores several issues. I will say in the several days since the shooting, I've dropped my kindergartener off and there has been an armed plain clothed PO at the door..........very comforting to see that.

We got a few inches here, turned to rain for a while. Now its frozen pretty good.

That is one sweet rig!!

Glad you liked it!! Thank you for the neat digital frame! And the SD card as well!

School Shooting Fallout Any ban, just like the last one, will address sales and manufacturing. It's not like someone's coming to take your gun or high cap mags that you already own.

Remember the good ole days? The first system I had came with Robie the robot, he used to pick up and put down a little gyroscope if I remember correctly.

Sweet! Been lightly snowing all day here, I'm spending the day stoking the woodstove and couch surfing with the kiddos... so it's a welcome sight!
