1993 Saturn SL2 4cyl: I get 41MPG without even trying. The first summer I got this car I made an effort to hypermile (No AC, windows up, parked strategically, slightly over inflated tires, ect.) and averaged 46MPG+. To this day the finish is in near showroom condition, she's fully loaded, cost me $24 a month to insure and American made. Figures they're going out of business!! 1999 Dodge Caravan 4cyl: I get 23MPG with an empty payload (rear seats removed). 2005 Subaru Outback AWD with Horizontally opposed 6cyl: 21MPG on the highway and average about 20MPG per tank. I drive my beaters far more often than this car, but the wife and kids use it locally at least every other day.

Despite working a boatload of Oscar Tango as well as a couple of 24 hour shifts at the PT job, I've been able to get out 4 mornings so far. Actually, thats not nearly as often as I had planned for my first turkey season.:bang: Anyhow, my buddy has a honeyhole of a spot. It's an old xmas tree farm that sees very little use in the way of cutting trees and absolutely no hunting pressure. The first few times we went out the gobblers were at the far end of the property towards a swampy area which, apparently, is not typically where they roost. This past Thurs morning we got there, and heard several gobbles in response to an owl hoot. This time it seemed they were in a large tree line that bisects one of the larger fields. We set up close by and began to call a little. After just a few clucks a hefty gobble seemed to come closer, although neither of us had a visual. Just then a turkey flew down from one of the trees we were under! Needless to say, that was the best chance I had. Later that morning we jumped a huge deer! And on the way to meet my friend I saw a moose on the side of the road, I think thats the first time I've seen both in such a short amount of time. Either way I've enjoyed it tremendously, and I should be able to get out at least once more. Hopefully I'll be able to post a pic of me with some feathers and a big grin. lol!

I've been an EMT-B for almost 7 years, 4 in a fairly large urban Dept. in NY and the past 3 here in VT. I became a FF first and then became interested in EMS. I'm also a Registered Respiratory Therapist and work very closely with the surrounding agencies who bring all sorts of ugliness into our ED. It's a pleasure to work with so many fine EMS providers.

They sure do! In saltwater anyway. I've caught a few giants (35lbs+) off the beach in the past.

I noticed that as well as him freeing a bear caught in a trap. But it also shows him catching lobster to eat as well as a large billfish he caught. I think the commercials are funny, I try not to read to much into stuff like that.

I'm right there with ya......been 48 hours now. Advil cold and sinus has been working well for my symptoms, but it only lasts about 6 hours or so. (Un)fortunately I won't be able to get into the woods until Tues. so I've got a few days to heal. I had it much worse in Feb. I was down for 11 days with the worst sore throat of my life. Quickstrep came back negative though.

I set the DVR yesterday, looking forward to watching it. I'd like for my daughter to watch it with me, shes not quite 4 however. Does it seem inappropriate for a yougin' of that age?

Schroon Lake holds some doozers. I've caught a few over the years up to 8 - 10 lbs. Much less fishing pressure than Lake George, but there are a number of people around. If you're up for some camping, lightweight canoe is a must, some of the larger ponds in the Pharoah Lake Wilderness Area hold large fish including Northerns. Pharoah Lake, and Crane Pond in particular.

And no, I haven't changed a thing, you won't find any colored mulch in my gardens, I haven't put up 10 grand worth of fencing or built a 25000 sq ft mountian home that I keep heated, plowed, and the lights on for my one weekend a year visit. And my roof is just as rusty as any "real" VT'er. I do however mow my nieghbors lawn (see, he's got cancer and in failing health) as well as cut and split his wood for him. He claims to be a 9th generation VT'er, he told me once "you're a good guy.....for a flatlander". LOL!! Truth be told, I'm only part flatlander.

No! LOL! But I should be. I live in a town of less than 3000 people, according to the site there are 6 RSO's living here. To be fair, I haven't heard a peep from this guy but now that I'm paying attention it seems he does not work and is around day and night.

From the information I read on the website, it seems to be up to local law enforcement whether or not to notify neighbors. I just want to make sure that PD was indeed notified by DOC about this guy moving into town, its legal for him to live here, and that he actually is compliant with his release conditions. If this was a case of an 18 year old who had a 16 year old girlfriend or something, I'd be understanding but preliminarily it seems to not be the case. Unfortunately I understand this may be a bad situation, but entirely legal. I'm just PO'd he's in a neighborhood with many children, living directly next to a daycare and noone was notified.

And its got me heated! This nogoodsonofagun moved in across the street about 6 months ago. Let me try and describe the area where I live, its a small neighborhood, about 25 houses on a closed circle. No outlet, only 1 entrance and only residential traffic. Its a quiet area, lots of first time home owners and young families (like mine). I'd say at least 12 - 14 of the houses have young children, and several others have teenagers living there. In the nice weather, there are people (children) walking around the loop all day. This guy moves in RIGHT NEXT TO A DAYCARE!! Literally, next door to him is a daycare with about 10 kids between the ages of 2 and 6. No one was notified, I only found out because I checked the state sex offender website the other day. He was convicted in 2006 for "possession of child pornography". I spoke to a buddy who is an attorney and he told me usually that conviction means it was blatant kiddie porn. Another buddy who lives down the road is a cop in a different town (his wife just had their second) He is livid! We tried to schedule an appointment with the Chief of Police, he's supposed to call me back. As far as I can tell, its up to local PD whether or not to inform residents. If he didn't think it was neccessary to inform in this case, I don't know when it would be. I'm thinking of going to the newspaper with this, they'd be all over it.

I haven't stated my opinion as fact. I'm not sure where you get the $5 mil number from, do you have a link? Either way, thats capitalism man. His earnings are a direct reflection of what the market will bear. If people didn't want to hear what he had to say, he wouldn't be selling it to them. Al Gore is a catalyst for the political side of climate change. His political affiliation sways public opinion moreso than factual scientific findings. Unfortunately, agree or disagree with Al Gore, the truth doesn't matter to everyone.
