  1. There seems to be a couple of little bugs that pertain to certain browser and computer configurations and I have been told that they are being worked on (and possibly fixed by now). S
  2. Click around and check out some of the features including maps you can customize. http://www.realtree.com/hunting/resources/weather

    I hate!!!!

Let's keep the thread in order guys. Lazy is not determined by age. There is enough of it to go around. I don't care for lazy people either and I don't care what age they are. It's not their fault though. If an employer allows it, then it's theirs. If someone is lazy and got reprimanded or fired like they should, they might not be "Practicing lazy" anymore.
  4. Just made it out to Vegas for SHOT. A long day with delayed flight, LONG time in the air, and a very slow Vegas airport. This post I made last night is not like a final word on all the feedback we got back. I'm still going through those, and because of them, I'm going to try to be a little more active in here. I will say that this post pretty much sums it up. Some folks said something to the same effect when emailing us. I just tried to make it plain and simple. It's not to say there will be folks that want others kicked out of this home, or want me or someone else to do it. Just keep it in mind before things get out of hand. Let's get back to some good conversations. S
  5. You don't. And you don't know many in here. Even though I would enjoy meeting all the members here in the forums, my point is this: This is the home to many hunters. We expect you to treat it like one when you comment or post. Treat these forums like you would as a guest in someones home. A home where everyone (young and old alike) are welcomed to sit and listen to what you have to say. Think about it. If you keep this in mind with every post you make, there shouldn't be any problems. S
  6. Gary brings up the key points. The travel part is usually the low expense. It is the fees involved. I know some folks that paid more for the caping, and shipping of the their trophies then they did for the plane ticket and hunt fees. Just make sure you know what those fees are.
  7. Yea, with Sherrill still there we wouldn't have had a chance!
  8. Bama is SEC and finished 10th this year. So they win it last year and AU this year. That's two National Championships and two Heisman winners from one state in two years. Impressive!
  9. War Eagle Leo! Guess you would have to go there to understand. Last March I was in Munich Germany sporting an Auburn cap and in one day had three War Eagles shouted my way. Happens every where I travel.
  10. Since I have been spending a little more time in here (The forums) lately and a graduate of Auburn University, I will take this post as my ticket to come in and brag a little. War Eagle!

    Take Note

Flaming, also known as bashing, is hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. Flaming usually occurs in the social context of a Internet forum. It is frequently the result of the discussion of heated real-world issues such as politics, sports, religion, and philosophy, or of issues that polarize subpopulations, but can also be provoked by seemingly trivial differences. I want to make sure that everyone is familiar with the term "Flame." There has been too much of it going on in here lately and we are about to begin dealing with it swiftly. If you have an issue with someone who posted (or what they posted), don't expect to launch a public attack on them in these forums to last very long. It will be deleted and no explanation will be needed. If you are the type that does it on a regular basis, you can and will be deleted too.

    Beer

The question for this thread was "Whats your favorite?" Unless your under the age of 21, let's keep it at that. It's pretty simple guys and doesn't hve to become an issue. S
  13. Good seeing you Tim (and Bill). Wish I could spend time with all you guys. My favorite part of my job is getting to hang with members in here. Will say I'm glad to be home (if only for 7 days). Will head to Vegas and the SHOT show next Sunday. S
  14. Just buy a Mac. Period. Thank me later.
  15. I've had some emails about this news so thought I would go ahead and post our official statement. Thanks for the heads up. S Please be aware that, as a matter of both personal conviction and corporate policy, we believe that game regulations should be followed to the letter of the law. We are watching the situation with Jeff Foiles closely, and will base our actions on the facts. We will make every effort to gather these facts as quickly as possible, but hope you understand that we must respect everyone's rights and will not simply react without sufficient cause. - Realtree
  16. Just launched an online rut report (still doing some work on it), but would like our members here in the forums to go in and start posting reports on the rut in your area. Basically populating the map and seeing if we can go ahead and begin building a resource for the current and upcoming seasons. Be sure to post your thoughts about the section. Thanks, S http://www.realtree.com/hunting/articles-and-how-to/whitetail/rut-report

  19. We had some issues with the rules for the deer contest this week and there was a thread that I have since deleted concerning them. As many of y of this, there were discussions through emails and PMs from both sides. As I mentioned to those involved there was never a question concerning the honesty or the integrity of anyone. It came down to the interpretation and the wording of the rules and what photo (or photos) have to be submitted. I sided with the rules (as is) and I don't believe any friendships will be lost because of it. There are no high stakes at risk here. And maybe we rewrite them next year if they need to be made clearer, but for now, there is three picture required for submissions (Only if you have a questionable tine measure should any others be needed (See no. 2). 1. One picture to include both the hunter and at least the the entire front half of the deer. No cape, skull, or mount pics will be accepted. 2. A photo of all scorable tines. If a 1 inch tine is questionable, supply an additionable photo with a measurement against it for verification. 3. One photo of the legal tag for the deer. Thanks, S
  20. For a couple of hours starting at 1:30 AM CST for a server transfer. S

    Hot

Thought it was hot in Georgia until I landed in Oklahoma yesterday. A nice 104 degrees. S
  22. New forum member Will Brantley is our Realtree.com editor. Will was an important part of our new site launch planning and construction. He has joined in the forums under the username "Brantley." He has some big plans for our online community, editorial tie ins, contests and more. Will has been a Realtree fan since he was a kid. In fact, there’s a VHS copy of Whitetails in the Wild sitting in his office that he’s had since he was 11 years old. He’s an outdoor writer and has worked on staff with a few hunting and fishing magazines and written freelance articles for many more. As our online editor, Will is the guy in charge of the feature stories and photo essays you see here on the site. He’s been handling that for just shy of a year now, and to say he’s found a job he enjoys is an understatement. Will is a native of western Kentucky, self-professed redneck who happens to be good at English, and a fanatical bowhunter, turkey hunter and duck hunter. He also does a fair amount of bowfishing and even a little catfish noodling on the side, too. Make sure you all welcome him to the community and look for his posts about new things available here on the site. Thanks, S
  23. You have forums here with over 5,000 active members (at least in the last year). You have 30-40 moderators actively trying to monitor these forums. It's a lot of folks with varying opinions, personalities, etc. Those moderators are trying to follow instructions that 9 times out of 10 are very tough judgment calls. Some of the rules are black and white and easy. We don't have many trying to break those anymore and it's why these forums are clean and safe for the entire family to read. Then you have calls like this where the lines are blurred. Is it someone wanting to be a part of this community, or is it someone here to sell folks on a product, a company, a website, etc? Out of all those moderators, there will be differing opinions, but they have to draw lines when it comes to this or it opens the doors to others blatantly coming in here to do some spamming or advertising. Shane, you have a great site and look to be doing something that is good for hunting (promoting hunts on public grounds). But, you need to take all of the comments in this thread and look at this from all perspectives. I do hope you stick around. It looks like you have some experiences that would be of interest to folks in here. Scott Hughes Realtree
