  1. A blog would be like your own personal site and not just a thread. You could actually incorporate video, pics and a look that is exclusive to your taste and preference. Family members and friends could subscribe to it. Everytime you post a new story or report, they would automatically be notified. The good stories could be featured on the Realtree site. We might even have prizes. So yes, there is much more to it than our current journal.
  2. We are currently doing some research for developing a blog site or section for Pro Staffers. At the same time, I am looking at adding that feature to these forums too, where anyone could establish their own online blog. I'm doing this because of the popularity of our journal room here in the forums. Would you guys be interested in having your own Realtree Blog space? It would tie into these forums and photo post (same software maker), and you could keep it like an online hunting journal for folks to view and subscribe to through RSS feeds. You can imbed pics, and video, write comments, rate them and personalize them. Let me know. I think it would be cool. S
  3. I think it was. I too, haven't seen it in a while.
  4. We were talking at work the other day and the subject of rain gear came up (we got a rare 4 inches of rain that day). I have owned Cabelas, Bass Pro, some real off brand cheap stuff, and even have some of the new Team Realtree Diablo gear. As everyone was mentioning brands, the names Columbia, Helly Hansen, and some others came up. My question for you all is what do you wear? Doesn't have to be camo, just curious. Also, even though I have heard of the brand, I've never had any experience with Helly Hansen. Have you guys heard of it or owned it?
  5. Thanks GW. We're getting there. And there are a lot of others involved. Hope to have some really cool new things to offer to all of you guys over the next 12 months. Just keep your fingers crossed as we begin the annual budget battle!
  6. When I was in HS and college, we all had nicknames at the camp. And it wasn't necessarily hunting related. I was "Snapper" (played center in football). Then we had Tracker I (Larry), Tracker II (Little Larry, (Tracker's son), Donkey, Can, Positive Traction, Colonel, Mad Dog, and the list goes on and on. Everyone had a nickname and there are some that I can't remember their real name to this day.
  7. She did great. She does connect with the average folk. Was proud of her.
  8. Palin didn't bomb I'm sure the heads were licking their chops and waiting to dog her all night. I didn't see or hear it. S[/size]
  9. We have freezers filled and emptied year round here at the office and there is a lot that is donated to families around the places we hunt all season.
  10. Here is one source: http://www.bowsite2.com/nbefstore/product1.asp?SID=3&Product_ID=164
  11. I (We) are working on this as I type this. S
  12. My son Jack joined the forums tonight and it's special to me. Many of you old timers have listened to my stories about Jack and because of those, watched him grow up over the years. Jack is now a fine 14 year old young man that is as dedicated to hunting and the outdoors as anyone I know. He has joined me in stands since he was 4 years old, taken several nice whitetails (including his first mountable buck last year (a 9 point GA trophy). This year, Jack's a first time bowhunter and doing very well shooting as we work on getting him ready to hit the woods soon. He's is now a freshman in High School and very active in football, baseball and academic activities. The "au" in his "aujack" username stands for Auburn University (which I'm a proud alumni). Jack will no doubt be a fine addition to the community here in the forums and I look forward to having him as a friend to all of you. Obviously, his school and sports participation will limit his time in here, but his love of hunting and gift of gab will probably make these boards one of his favorite online destinations. Justlet me know if you see him in here late on weekday nights (and not in bed). Thanks, S PS. It's hard to believe it's been 6 years, but here is the story we ran on the site when Jack took his first deer at 8 years old: http://www.realtree.com/community/photoEssay.php?ID=15
  13. That was awesome Ken! Great music and thanks for that RT shout out at the end. I'm jealous. S
  14. That is awesome! First time I have heard the band or the song. That's music from my neck of the woods! S
  15. All of them count. Just looking for the ones you visit the most. S
  16. What is your top 5 (You can list more or less) hunting related websites you visit and why?
  17. Gregg, Please tell Pete that he is in our prayers here at Realtree. S
  18. Trying to fix the problem. Not sure why it reverted to alphabetical order.
  19. Thanks for the post and kind words Randean. I don't think anyone stepping into your parent's house last week would have done anything less. The timing could not have been worse for your family, yet you were all so accommodating and patient. I also saw last week (and in these threads) what makes these forums special. S
  20. Ran across it last night. Covers a lot of stuff: http://www.huntersfriend.com/bowselection.htm
  21. I'll check on that. Email me your name and address at [email protected]. S
  22. Ok guys, I was hit hard for a long time about having some forum specific gear made up to offer to everyone in here. I did, and we have had very little in so far as purchases. Because I was limited in budget and could not print a large number, the cost for printing and embroidery, was much higher compared to some of the other items our sale's dept. offers in the RealStore. Anyhow, I was just informed that I had to clear them out to make room for other inventory and that I probably wouldn't get the opportunity to do this again any time soon. So if you have ever wanted something with the forums logo on it (or in the future), you can go to the RealStore now and get a T-Shirt or camo cap for $10 each or a solid cap for $9. If you buy both a shirt and a cap, we will throw in a decal for free. Get 'em while they last, because this might be it for a while. Thanks, S http://www.realtree.com/store/
