Re: In the spirit of Halloween (and costumes)
Buckee and I spent a lot of time together talking on the CO hunt. It was at this time I found out that they don't believe in Halloween up there on the island he lives on. I was surprised by that, and therefore, don't have a costume pic for him.
However, he talked a lot about how hunting blacktail was so hard and so different than anything we do down here in the states.
Buckee gave me the picture below to illustrate just how hard it is. He mentioned the elaborate blinds they use (even though I couldn't see it in this shot). He also mentioned the importance of staying hydrated. I was really shocked to hear that since they are at sea level and have a rather cool climate year round. Yet, as you can see, he brought in plenty of fluids to make sure he does drink a lot of fluids (and he even uses them as a seat on stand).
What an inspirational hunter Buckee is to all of us! I was impressed with his true life hunting stories! S
PS: I was impressed with how he hunted in "summer-like" clothing, and those big trails behind him were unbelivable. They looked like highways through the woods!
