  4. Re: Ok, I did it!! Blaze orange..the controversy. [ QUOTE ] Blaze orange and the usage of it is controversial, Isn't it? The title alone may answer your question. [/ QUOTE ] Not really, if the law state you have to wear it, you better wear it. If there is no state law requiring it to be worn and you don't choose to wear it, well frankly your taking your life into your own hands. Im sure you don't trust everyone out in the woods, and Im also sure if you hunt private property you can not guarantee at all times that there isn't someone on that property either with permission or without. I sure wouldn't trust others not to shoot first and ask questions later. You can come up with a million scenarios to this, and as you know, you will never come up with enough answers to make everyone happy. Do what you like, orange or no orange, lets just hope the knuckle head 200 yards away can see you behind the deer he is getting ready to shoot, and then holds his shot. What to do with the folks hiking or walking the dog, or like they do around here, the mountain bikers, I have no idea. I would like to see the state property closed to biking and hiking during the regular deer season. I don't really know, there is no real good answer for this debate.
  5. Re: What\'s up with men who at least they are wearing clothes, dont complain.
  6. Re: Ok, I did it!! Blaze orange..the controversy. Is there a point to these questions or are you just trying to stir up debate?

  12. Re: Any Success in NY Today? Well we had a great day here sat. morning. I see 8 doe and 3 young bucks all 4 points or less. But the deer were moving well, not spooked, very little shooting going on. My father saw 6 doe and 2 young bucks and my younger brother took a nice 4 point at 7:30. Great day in the field, no rain, not too cold and not too warm. We will get them tomorrow. Wigs
  13. Re: I need some reassurance... [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] However the buck gets a swollen neck during the rutting stages due to hormones, not workin out. LOL [/ QUOTE ] Yeah but my reasoning sounds better
  14. Re: I BROKE THE CURSE...FINALLY!!!!! Congratulations!!!! That is a great way to break the curse. It is the first deer that is the hardest, now your on the right track. Good Job Wigs
  15. Re: Pump-House Blacktail Nice buck Steve, but why not just use your knife instead of the shotgun? Wigs
  16. Re: I need some reassurance... I don't doubt what you saw. I see many mistakes and hear many folks miss speak on some of the shows. Wigs
  17. Re: I need some reassurance... While I am sure smaller bucks will at times rub big trees, I have never seen it. Generally speaking the larger buck hit bigger trees. It has something to do with strengthening their necks for the rut and fighting, that is why the larger bucks necks get swollen, from working out in a way. The bigger trees have less give to them making the bucks work harder to trash it. And you are right, rubs are on trees, scrapes are on the ground. Wigs

  21. Re: territorial scrape??? I would think it was a young buck just feeling his oats at the time. Probably there was a hot doe nearbye and he instinctively made the scrape. I could be wrong though, I was once! lol
  22. Re: missed a doe, how long to give stand a rest I let my stands rest long enough to reload. Sit tight you never know what will come by and when. Wigs
  23. Re: Shooting Hours or Seeing Hours??? I never really thought about it Gary. I am darn sure that many times I was hunting in the evening after sunrise as I like to sit until dark, and when that deer shows up I don't check the time. I just get ready for the shot. I guess I will have to pay closer attention to sunrise and sunset times. Shame on me, I should know better! Thanks for bringing this up! Wigs
