  1. Re: Hunt any animal in the world I've hunted WT all my life. I would love to go after elk. It would force me to stay in shape to handle the foot travel on some gorgeous country. This hillbilly loves hillls. Good thing because I'd be in the right place!
  2. Re: New Land (update..Questions) [ QUOTE ] .its pretty thick in there.. [/ QUOTE ] If cover is limited in the area, they will definitely be there when the agriculture is gone.
  3. Re: New Land (update..Questions) Yea, I wouldn't stir it up either. Look for what the surrounding land has to offer and maybe you can ambush when they travel across property lines. Look for low lying areas and fence rows for travel routes. With one piece of woods, it may be easier to keep the wind in your favor also. For a morning stand, get in REAL early while they are out feeding. They can travel along ways in the hour before daylight. Don't overuse it. Congrats!!!
  4. Re: What do you look forward too most this season? Well, since I moved to Alabama this year, I'm excited as heck to hunt brand new land. There's about a 40-50,000 acres of gameland to hunt and scout. Lot's of hills and hardwoods with some farmland. I'm headed up this weekend to do some scouting. The season is open from mid-Oct to the end of Jan. They only allow gun season about 14 misc days in the whole 3.5 months. The rest is bow season! I just want to find some deer on new land. To me that's exciting. I might even stick a couple!

    Hunting in the U.S

Re: Hunting in the U.S [ QUOTE ] that would be depressing if I had to live over there in England with no hunting [/ QUOTE ] Spent 4 years stationed there in the 90's. Came back once with a buddy and we bowhunted Tenn and West Va for two weeks straight. Other than that, thank goodness for 3D's and hunting movies.......
  7. Re: Broadhead Tuning? Spin testing like a top isn't always a true indicator to determine if a BH is aligned correctly. The BH tip has to be perfectly center on the arrow shafts axis. I'm not sure, but I doubt the tolerances are perfect, and they may tweak the point on a shot and it will never spin true, although shoot just fine. I've found many times that the practice blades get tweaked by shooting them excessively. The proof is in the shot.
  8. Re: What size sight pins in what order? All mine are .019. Don't forget the color. For me, red fades 1st, so it goes on the 40 yarder. Next is green at 30. And yellow shows up last near dark, so it's 20. Your eyes may be different?

  12. Re: The Irish go down... I've never been a Michigan fan. But I was today!
  13. They have received there rankings from the good teams that came before them years ago. The aura is gone. They are not that good.

Re: finally!!! Don't thank us for listening. It's our pleasure! CONGRATS on a nice deer..............
  15. Re: Anyone watching the WV/maryland game? I watched the whole game. GO EEER'sss!
  16. Several states I've heard have controlled hunts on either state park land or municipal areas and charge a hunter to thin the deer population out (usually with bow). A hunter may pay a non-returnable "application fee" and then if drawn pays $20-50 for a usual two-day hunt. I was wondering what is some of y'alls hunts and prices? TIA
  17. Re: good bows for competitive archery Bowtech, Hoyt, and Mathews are good bows. But if you are serious about shooting them well, get someone who knows how to fit a bow to YOUR draw length (most important IMO) and poundage.
  18. Re: Any Good Competition Publication? I remember a mag several years ago called: "3D Times." Try google and see if it's still around. It had some good articles on the mind part of the game. But after 18 months, they seemed to repeat themselves.

    Ice Cream of Choice?

Re: Ice Cream of Choice? Anything with fudge, chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
  20. Re: Got my mount back What do you think [ QUOTE ] Greatest trophy of my life for sure and to take him by spot and stalk on my own was just the iceing on the cake. If you know what I mean. [/ QUOTE ] No I don't know what you mean. Most are taken by a dog with someone doing target practice at an animal butt in a tree. Tell us the story!
  21. Re: My New Summits Congrats!!
  22. Re: HOW ABOUT THEM BUCKEYES!!1! Like I said, it was time McCoy was going to meet a real defense.
  23. Re: What I love about bowhunting Yep, That's what it's all about. But I'll add: - taking a challenge with the odds stacked against you................and coming up short.
  24. Re: opening day here in NC At least you go to go!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be thankful.
  25. Re: 3D Archery Tournaments Hoyt, If you are shooting in or around Augusta at a local 3d shoot, you'll probably shoot 20 targets in one day. My suggestion is not to think of it as a tourney. Just a chance to have fun at shooting different cool targets in the woods.
