  1. I still do 3D shoots, just not as many as I used too. When I lived in NC, the season started up in January and ran until September. I'd shoot one tourney every weekend and sometimes two until the season was over, plus on Tuesday nights a indoor 5 spot tourney. 3D is some of the best practice you can get and has made me into the bow hunter I ma today with all the confidence in the world in my shooting ability and yardage judging. Just moving to Georgia last year, I am figuring out where some shoots are locally and will be attending more of them next year, but right now its all about deer and putting them on the ground. There are some very close ASA shoots in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida so I may hitting some of those as well. I miss the competition of 3D and all of its benefits, I try make up for it in on my range in the yard shooting 3 to 4 times a week. Its not about the trophies anymore and I just got rid of over 200 plaques and trophies because I don't have the space to put them. I did keep my State Championship, Western Carolina Championship, and a few others but all the others went away. I do get into tuning my bows and they have to shoot like a bullet with arrow flight being perfect, so I'm a fanatic on my tuning. which rolls over into my hunting bows, so there is no question when trying to thread an arrow through a 2" hole killing a deer. Bad arrow flight means a wounded or miss deer and the same applies for tight situations on the 3D range. with deer season in, tournaments are very slow to nothing right now, but will pick back up in the first of the year. good luck to you and Shoot Straight.
  2. Very nice!! Congrats to her on a great buck!
  3. He is definitely at least 4.5 years old but i'd stay in the mid to upper 130's for score. He is a little weak on his G4's, the G2's look to be around 7-8", G3's 5-6", probably around 17-18" wide. I got a 10 point very similar grossing 132". He is a great buck regardless of score, it would be dirt nap city for him good luck getting him.
  4. He's not a monster but antlers none the less. I had this guy come in at 10 yards this past Sunday browsing on acorns and heaidng to some scraps around my stand. I drew at one point when he was in some thick cover but he walked past an opening I had a shot through. Trying not to get detected, I slowly let my bow back down and let him do his business. After about 15 more yards, he walked even closer and right out into the shooting lane I had, stopping to feed I let him have it at 10 yards. Shooting through both shoulders, it broke him down right there. I went ahead and put another arrow in him to finish him off quickly. It was a good evening and I got some antlers for this season. Good luck to you all and be safe out there.
  5. Man, I hate to hear that. Just tell her to hand in there and it'll happen. Best of luck to her on the next one.
  6. Well, I get to do an upgrade for our team, I was able to take a small 5 point last night. Not a big buck but antlers and points for the team. I will get pictures up as soon as I can, so the points can get on the board.
  7. Dang Dan.......I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune at this time. I hope you are doing well and have a speedy recovery, Thank the good Lord your just a bit banged up and not worse. I wish you the best and please take care.
  8. Out of the years I've put in up in Ohio, the smaller bucks are probably starting to nose around. the mature bucks will more than likely be on their feet within the next two weeks. This up coming week is the week I always hunting in Southeast Ohio, bucks making tons of scrapes and beginning to search for the pre-rut. I never liked hunting the full rut stage with those boogers locking down with Does, I hunted two season up there during this time and it was so hard to kill a good buck. That is why we always went during the pre-rut times, lots of movement.
  9. My tenderloins only hit the grill and sprinkled with Lowery's Season salt, no marinating or nothing. Grill to medium rare and chow down:) I grind the rest into burger with bacon, for every 15# of venison I put 3# of bacon ends for the juicey savory taste. We put that &*#@ on everything:) LOL
  10. Absolutely, both ends of the shaft have to be square with the nock seating square and the inserts for a true spinning, meaning no wobble on either end of the arrow. If you're still getting erratic arrow flight then its more than likely a bow tuning issue. I've shot Muzzy's for almost two decades now and have field point accuracy with them.
  11. Congratulations on your kill! that is a fat nanny, man I'm going to miss killing those bigguns up north in Ohio this year. The three I've killed so far have weighed 125#, 115#, and 115# live weight. No, the gut pile will not hurt the deer coming back in, more than likely that was stated the gut pile will be gone in a couple of days from scavengers. I've been putting my carcasses about 200 yards from were I hunt and they are all gone within three days. Gotta go with John on this one, I have only gutted two deer int he woods and that was just reduce the weight for a 2 mile carry out. The deer still felt like it gained 100# by the time I got them out. LOL The land we hunted in Ohio, the property owner didn't want the guts out int he woods because he wanted them concentrated out is back door. to do some coyote hunting from his back porch while we hunted:) However, he never gutted his deer in the woods either:confused:
  12. Well, I guess I will keep posting the success thread myself:) No buck yet but did take another Doe on Thursday, the acorns are really falling here and the activity is starting to get better. I got a 5 yard shot on her, so it was a straight down shot. She made it about 100 yards before dirt nap city and making #3 on the season so far. Good luck to all and hunt safe out there.
  13. Well, it seems to be picking back up here with the October lull about over and the acorns falling like rain drops. Haven't had an opportunity to take a buck yet but put #3 Doe on the ground Thursday morning. She was 5 yards from the tree and got to have her Muzzy Moment then shortly after taking a dirt nap. I hope the rest of you all are having some luck and be safe out there..
  14. Yes, its pretty disturbing and totally burns my chaps to read what some of those hypocrites have to type. One post actually said Poaching needs to stop. What an ignorant rectum, that truly depicts the type of individuals we are up against. Then they turn around and say kill all of us, castrate us, electric chair, and so on, with this coming from Human Rights so called advocates. Sheesh! I would love to have a face to face with one or more of these idiots and prove to these key board morons what a real man is about.
  15. Guys and Gals, we need to step up and help one of our bretheren states out now, with voting on this topic. It's just going to be one more step for the Anti's and other yahoo's in winning for taking more of our hunting previledges away from us. Please follow the link and vote, it only takes a second. If you feel like it, read some of the post at the bottom. This will really let you know what kind of idiots we have against us. POLL: Should bear hunting be banned in the US? ยป Focusing on Wildlife
  16. Aaah the fair weather hunters and hunters wanna bee's. Been there done on several occasions all ready this season, typical, I've got access to 200 acres and never been hunted". I'm like well "Let's Go", then dead silence and nothing else from them. These are the ones that always want deer meat after the season is over, I just tell them you should have gone out hunting.
  17. Yeah, I changed you but from the looks of it, I should have went with moron. LOL
  18. Congrats on the buck and sorry about the bear having his tid bit of meat. Good job on finding him.
  19. Its no big racked buck but this ole girl was a good kill for me and pretty memorable. She made #50 with a bow and was my wife's first tracking job. I text my wife right after the shot and told I had killed one. She was so excited and wanted to come and help me. I knew where she went down, so it was just a matter of my wife finding her. I was laughing at her because she didn't realize how much blood would come from a deer, Her words were, "My God at all the blood":) My wife is from Russia, so she has never experienced anything like this until she met me. I was very proud of her because she followed the blood trail straight to her. She was still astonished by the amount of blood that came from her. After we found the Doe, then the fear of being lost in the dark hit my wife. We are only 200 yards behind our house and the area I hunt is so thick and no visibility of the house lights. LOL It was a fun hunt and evening.
  20. Ha Ha, just messing with you. I will change it back. Congrats on the count and antler growth.
