  1. Thank you and good luck to you. It was a bust on opening day but gave a dirt nap to a big nanny doe last night.
  2. Well, I will get it started off, Slash from Team 4 scored as well. I had four deer come out about 15 minutes before shooting light was gone. Three Does and a decent 8 point, the buck kept going but this big nanny (125#)turned and come in for a 12 yard shot and I let the Muzzy eat. She ran about 35 yards and piled up. It made for a late night but well worth it. It was a mile stone for me, with this deer making #50 with a bow. good luck to all and be safe out there.
  3. Congratulations Slash. I got a fat Nanny Doe last night. 12 yards shot with 35 yard recovery, she weighed 125# live weight. Big doe for Georgia. We need a name for our Team too:) Any ideas??
  4. Yuuuuup. Hunt water, I've hunted in the 100's on opening week and laid them out.
  5. Muzzy all the way. Been using them for 21 years with Great success.
  6. Very nice and I am impressed with the Hoyt bows. I just set up a new Growler for my neighbor, I know it's lower line but a very sweet bow and smooth. I'm thinking about trying the new Spider out. Good luck with the new toy:)
  7. I've got a 5 pointer on mine as well, same little booger as last year. No growth, so he's coming out of the gene pull. Still waiting on the bruiser cruising around to pass on camera.
  8. I'm glad he is going to be okay. Wow! But from a bow hunters stand point, wouldn't you see his melon through the sight cage being that close? Maybe it's just me but I can see spiders or flies when they land on my sights. Inadvertently or not, you'd should still see something like a human head in your shooting line of sight.
  9. Agree! These guys are not Pros, just some one who has an archery shop job because they know a LITTLE about bows. Be sure and start out like DB said and make sure tiller is set, crucial for nock travel. Then go to your rest for arrow squareness. To be honest, I have never been an advocate of paper tuning. I have set countless bows up without flinging them through a piece of paper. Just make sure all of the above said by DB is set and you should be good. I did switch from WB to QAD HD this year on both my hunting bows and those boogers are a beast to fine tune. Stick with it and you'll get them flying right. Arrow square is the upmost importance on drop away rest. BTW are you shooting cock vane up or down?
  10. The only thing I have heard negative about them is there's such a small entrance hole. That's still up for debate by a lot of Swacker users. Some say their entrance holes are fine and others say they are to small. I heard and witnessed the same thing with Tekan II . I killed with them but wasn't happy with entrance hole. Guess that's why Montec came out with the chunk cutters T3's.
  11. Very very cool! Those colors will never run, except with deer blood on them:)
  12. Okay folks its getting close, so here's our thread for this season. May all of you be successful in your hunts and be safe. Post'em when you get'em!
  13. If its been more than one day of shooting larger groups. I would tend to lean more towards timing or your rest has moved. Especially not grouping at 20. Don't stress yourself out, just check the square of your arrow on the rest. Also, cam timing.you could be fighting something physical on your bow and making it mental in your head.
  14. I have used all white for years, vane color shouldn't be an issue if you're using luminok's
  15. Very nice kill! Congratulations on a great buck.
  16. Regardless of what you take with you, good luck and be safe! I'm the opposite, I can't put down my bow for a gun:) LOL I've gotten 5 this year with my bow and really want one more.
  17. Well, tomorrow is the last day of deer hunting here in the county I live in and its supposed to rain. I hope everyone's season has been a safe and prosporous one. I am going to try and make out with my bow one more time and maybe pick up another day or two in an adjoining county that stays open until February 1st. Then its going to be along closed season, BUMMER. I wish all you a Happy New Year!
  18. DB is correct about the travel, I have four Scott releases and the tension screw is only for the travel adjustment. This actually increases or decreases the sensitivity of the trigger pull. If you adjust it to the point beyond the roller staying in contect the jaws will not stay closed. I have all of mine adjusted just before this point, so I don't have to feel like I am yanking the trigger to get it to go off. The trigger pull being very light when not attached to the string, is only because the jaws do not have pressure applied to them. This is turn allows the jaws to open more freely, these are designed to apply counter pressure to the roller when attached to the string. Hence, you've got tighter trigger pull when at full draw.
  19. I do and always have aligned my broadheads wit my fletchings. Of course paying attention to insert and knock sqaure is even more critical. I good arrow spinner will tell you whether or not you will have good arrow flight. Lining your broadheads up with fletchings can't hurt and yes it takes some time to do this, but I have found over the years that it has greatly helped the accuracy on longer shots. It is a moot point for 4 blade and mechanicals.
  20. I shot Goldtip XT Hunters for years and had great success with them, then decideed to go with CE Maxima Hunters. I haven't looked back, it was amazing the difference between the two shafts. Now cost effectiveness the Goldtips are the way to go, but performance and accuracy I would choose the CE shafts anyday. I am very seriously thinking about the new Maxima KV's to try.
  21. Totally agree, find some decent food sources to hunt. But that is hard to find this tme of the season, I have seen most deer browsing on saplings near bedding areas and eating any green vegetation they can find. Good luck to you, I am trying to finish my season out as well and diligently looking for food sources.
  22. Yep, I live by my chrono when setting up my bows. My tourney's bows are set at 280 fps and my hunting bows are at 287 fps. This allows me to keep all four of my set ups with the same pin gap which equals not having to make adjustments from bow to bow when shooting them during hunting or tournaments. Alot of shooters have had their bubbles busted when shooting their arrows through a chrono, it'll make grown men cry sometimes when they see reality.
