  1. I have an Ariens. I looked at Gravely when I bought mine but ended up with the Ariens. I looked at things like how the deck was hung, how thick it was, etc. Gravely is a very popular brand and is supposed to make a good mower. Mine has less frills than some of the others but it dang sure mows good. Once you go ZTR there is NO going back. We went from a 50" yard tractor type to a 42" ZTR and that ZTR will mow circles around a yard tractor in half the time. They are pricy but TOTALLY worth the money.

    Tablet advice

They really are fun. You can also pickup Amazon gift cards to give them out for gifts, birthdays, etc. that way they can buy movies, apps, etc. Keep in mind that Amazon prime is something like $79 a year and you get all of the movies/ tv show on the prime list for that price. You also get 2 day shipping and so many free books to read a year. Its a good investement for the price.

    Tablet advice

The Kindle Fire HD 7" tablets are on sale right now at $159.99. They are great. i had a 7 and recently upgraded to an 8.9". They are the Android operating system which means no Itunes and it runs exactly like an Andriod phone. We use our to watch Netlflix, watch movies, read, play games, etc. Im picking one up for our oldest this year for her birthday. Ive downloaded several kids games too. Very, very handy in spots where you need to occupy the kids. They also come with the camera and ability to video chat as well as have a Micro HDMI port so you can plug it into your TV to look at pictures, watch movies, etc.
  6. That stinks.... pretty enertaining racing. However, I think my wife could probably keep the lead in her Mini-Van... Maybe I need to mount a fin on that thing and put her on the track.
  7. Wow.. thats crazy. Hope she's back to 100% before too long....
  8. Duck hunting is addictive. Even though all of the new toys is fun you don’t have to open the wallet the first year and see what happens.. I started with a 60's model double barrel and a pond bank. You do need camo that matches your surroundings. Dont buy grass camo if you only have timber near by. A set of cheap decoys will be fine. You can upgrade later. You will definitely need a set of chest waders. And spend at least $20 - $25 on a duck call. Look at the reviews. (double reed are easier for beginners). Look at the double nasty. Don’t overcall. Most ducks have been called before they ever reached your area. Only call a couple of times if the ducks don’t seem to notice your decoys. They may or may not come to you.. either way, learn that calling more does not mean they will come to your spread. Also be sure to conceal, conceal, conceal... They really are sharp. If you have a white patch somewhere chances are they will see it...
  9. Love to see little green tips from any plant poking through the soil! Should make for a good hunting spot.
  10. Thanks Gang.. we, as a family, couldn’t have made it without prayers. There is still a lot to sort out. It is now out in the open and I can say it was suicide and one that no one expected, no sign, even as it happened. Being this close and having to help with everything involved.... it was literally one of the hardest weeks of my life. Depression is very real and I have a new outlook on those that suffer from it.
  11. I dont know what the max size is but to resize on a computer you can always just pull it up in paint, Ctrl + W and change the percentage (reduce to whatever works, like 50% or 70%). Save the picture. It will be smaller. Can you not plug your IPhone directly into a computer and get the pictures off or take out an SD card?
  12. I don’t even use carbon clothing, preference.... it has nothing to do with feeling like I’m cheating the animals. Keep in mind that animals use far more than their nose to survive. They use eyes, ears, etc. Even if this worked 100% it would not make hunting "Easy". By that standard you could say that shooting a deer at even 100 yards with a rifle is "easy". We all know that it is easier than using a bow and even a shotgun or ML'er. Does this give you some advantage? I highly doubt it. I think it is more like the breath gum, a farce. It can’t contain more than i would guess 30% of body coverage because of size alone. Ergo, I think it is just a way to get "hunters" to spend money on the next big thing. It’s another one of the blow and go hunting tools that some will swear by because they killed a few deer and or bear while using it but others know that if the wind is at your back the device will do nothing but leave a void in your wallet. Everyone has their level of what is ethical and what is not. The older I get the less likely I am to kill small deer. When I was younger I would shoot everything that walked and if I could have used some magical device to make it easier I would have. However, by nature, we change as we get older and I am in it way more as challenge than for anything else. A magical suit that allowed you to be invisible, scent free, and able to fly wouldn’t interest me....well, maybe the flying thing. What I’m saying is, it is all relative. It all depends on experience, viability, and success of any particular person... and even how they gauge success! Keep in mind I honestly believe there should be a different set of rules for those who are just starting hunting than the rules that apply to those of us who have hunted for years. Some hunters do need that leg up to cut their teeth. Those of us who have any founded experience do not need heat seeking bullets or canned hunts.
  13. Great pictures! Would love to visit a place like that....
  14. That will wear you down! You'll be happy you walked that out come season though... Get picks up when it sprouts....
  15. Yeah... its legal here. People do it all the time. I hunt crop for doves every year. Infact the Wildlife Department plants thousands of acres of crops south of me every year for hunters, on public land. The year before last we hunted a corn field they had planted. They left standing stubble in the middle of the field for hunters to use for cover... Thats a pretty clear sign.
  16. My family lost one of our best, my cousin and brother. He died at 38 years old yesterday and we all have very, very heavy hearts. We need lot of prayers please. This is a load none expected to carry. Bad, bad deal...
  17. We have a 27' right now and use it quite a bit. We enertain friends and family a lot too. I agree, if you dont use it enough it is not worth it. We however do use ours pretty regular. The really nice thing is my wife likes to clean the pool to get out of the house so I havent cleaned the pool once. I do have to pickup chemicals in Tulsa but that is about it......
  18. Early Congratulations! I hope you said goodbye to sleep, you wont see it again for a few months.
  19. They do.... Keep in mind most Broadhead will fly like field points with some tuning. Most people say that mechanicals fly like field points, because they have never tuned a fixed blade head. Mechanicals out of the package simply fly better in most cases. Still not my favorite because of too many risks involved but they are proven lethal and require less work so I see why so many have went to them. Even though they arent my favorite I am carrying 3 rage in my quiver. I am still slinging my 100grn Muzzy but if I get the chance to thump a doe with a rage I will do so to see how they perform.
  20. I'm thinking the salt water pool too mainly becuase of the cost of the chemicals. People are here are starting to use them and love them. Im also thinkinig of buying a propane heater to heat the pool early in the year. It could also be put in the pump house. I'm ready to break ground but I have to wait until fall 2014 for the budget part of things! Im also going to pour a shop floor so I can start working on a 30x50 shop. Im doing like the government and working the floor into the cost so my wife doesnt see it coming!
  21. My main reason for the Gunite is the shape. I looked at the fiberglass but you are really tied to their design. I looked at the liner too but given the shape they arent easy to work with. Liners can be costly when you are talking about a custom shape. Ergo.. ive ended up with the concrete pool. We want a very different pool. It basically has three sections, deep (for jumping off of the pump house, will also have a water slide) a medium depth for just standing and floating, and a shallow spot for kids. It will all be the lagon type with a circular shape for each depth (all tied together). Thats where the problem falls with the liner. I am in bottom land, no rock. Our frost line is less than 24". Digging should be easy. I plan on using all SCH 40 PVC backed with sand. Hopefully that will dodge a lot of problems. Im planning on 2 pumps. One to cycle full time, the other will cycle and run the slide(s) and a waterfall. A lot of people around here leave one or both pumps going all winter. We do get cold here, as low as -30 F in the past 4-5 years. Mostly we drop into say the teens. I just need a good source for the plumbing information so I know what to expect for drains, outlets, etc. HP required for the pumps would be good too. General information on rebar, gunite depth, potential cost, etc. Im a newby to pool construction. I have no doubt we can pull it off though.....
  22. I built a warehouse for a commercial pool manufacturer years ago. I talked to him about swimming pools. He told me about the love/ hate relationship with the pool. He said a lot of people put in pools and then later hate them so he suggested putting in an above ground, keeping it for several years, and if we liked it then spending the money on an in-ground. Skip forward about 7 years, still have the pool and though it is costly, we still use it. We decided that we would keep the above ground until the liner ripped. When that happened we would look at an in-ground. The liner is still good but we are not talking about breaking ground in late 2014 to early 2015. I’m early talking about this but it’s kind of a big deal that is going to require a LOT of planning. We are actually going to a lot of the work ourselves. I’m going to solid model the shape of the pool, we are going to get some help with the required plumbing, I am going to buy a skidsteer that I can later resale, and then we are going to tie rebar and have a gunite crew come out and spray the pool and do all that is required. I am also going to build a 10x15, concrete tilt up, bathroom/ pump house. We are building a shade area, etc. All in all, if we do the work ourselves we are going to get a LOT more for the buck than a small pool. Small pools around here with a diving board run around $30k - $32k. If we do the work ourselves I figure we can put in a larger pool with all of the frills for about $30 - $35 after I sale the skidsteer. Anyone have in-ground pool experience? Ever put in an in-ground? Gunite Experience? Pool plumbing? Good resources? Just tossing this around right now.
  23. Make sure you order a snipe call and a snipe decoy..... Sometimes it helps to put a flashing red light on the decoys head.
  24. Sweet... thanks William. Looks like I need to talk to him about planting now. I want to see just where he is setting me up too.....
