  1. Going to cook a shoulder sometime over either hickory or pecan. Still very warm and humid here, summer is hanging on and still seeing heat indexes over 100. Our son has an ear infection, so likely won't go to church tomorrow, and also not likely he will go swimming either. Need to mow the yard again, need to hook up the bush hog and mow some. Need to spot spray beans in the bottom with roundup. Need to get a couple more cameras out, been saying that for the last month but been so miserably warm. Getting close to time to hang a couple store bought ladder stands, really need a break from the heat to get that done, but might just have to suck it up and do it anyway.
  2. Welcome to the forums. Probably the shift plate got broken. Had to replace the one on our 2004 foreman.
  3. Sure you could find a youngster or someone who would be happy to take out the genetic misfit for you. I get what you are saying too on passing up good bucks to hold out for that one. Nice thing for you is that you have some very good options.
  4. Man, you are going to have a tough time picking which one you are going to target this year Al. Some great deer there and no doubt you are in for another incredible season. Think the backscratcher buck would be a definite target, pics 2, 3, and 5 also look like more mature bodied bucks(little sag in the gut and not as straight in their backs).
  5. Cool character though Al. I would go out on a limb and say first set of pics is the daddy of the other buck. And if that is the case, then it would most certainly be a genetic trait, probably one you would want to get rid of. Reminds me I need to continue my research on the goofy racked big buck we had here last year in comparing to the one this year.
  6. Biggest downfall here is lack of high speed internet options that would support streaming from the services like you mention. You would have to have pretty high speed internet to support a streaming service for multiple sets. Yeah, the calls I have to make to the "retention dept" get old, been doing it for years with att and direct both. Last time around with direct locked in for 2 years and got a genie with a couple mini's. Reminds me I need to call att again for the 5th month in a row now, supposed to have a recurring $20 promo credit on our internet that lasts 12 months, but have to call every month to remind them, uggghhh. Last month they once again promised I would not have to call next month, seems like a rigged deal. Not much for options here where we are in the sticks, dish is worse than direct so not doing that, although dish is the first name I throw out to direct when bargaining with them. Internet available here is not fast enough to support streaming at 4k on more than one set at a time. Our power co is supposedly going to tie in landline/internet/cable on their lines, not gonna hold my breath that they run it the 1/4 mile run from the road, but then they can go aerial so maybe. When if ever they do, will likely dump att/direct "monopoly".

    big and angry

Stay safe out there Dave. Good luck with your bowhunts.
  8. LOL. Good luck with the gators Anthony. Saw more than my share of the nasty things when I lived in central Florida, they were protected back then, (crazy).
  9. Buck I am seeing in the pic is certainly not a spike. Good luck filling your two tags Jerry.
  10. Hunting season is not opened yet, and too early for teacher of the year. lol. Must have something to do with his wine.
  11. Was told by some geniuses on another site that chigger bite itching is after the chiggers have already bitten you and that they are not alive in or under the skin. BUT I have used permethrin cream after getting bites, and it does seem to end the itching.
  12. Turned out nice Frank. How did you do yours? Last one I did, I let go just a little too long and some of the bones came loose. I have several I need to clean up, the galvanized bucket I used started leaking from the side seam so need a new one.
  13. Was a kinda busy weekend here. TN had the first time velvet archery hunt, was too warm for me with the low in the mornings being around 65 and daytime heat indexes going over 100. Been there and done that. Looks like the garage is coming along nicely. A loader on a tractor is definitely handy in setting trusses and lifting heavy stuff like shingles.
  14. Great pics Dave. Thanks for sharing. Never have been to Yellowstone, one of these days.
  15. I personally didn't like what most "hunting shows" had become so I exercised my right to not watch them. Far as a critique of your posting, my critique is this. Become a contributing member of this community rather than just pasting your links here like you do at other sites. Read and post to others posts rather than just your own. Appears you are here for the sole purpose of promoting your own interests. I will watch your clip/clips and give feedback after you become a contributing member here.
  16. Either of those would be potential targets here Dave. The backyard here is pretty well all I hunt. While much different than the Wyoming hunt I took my oldest daughter on in 2010, there are certainly different challenges. Wish I had close access to thousands of acres of spot and stalk country.
  17. Good to see you check in Anthony. Congratulations to the family and you on all the accomplishments and on retiring. Best of luck to you this fall. Christina, our oldest got married back at the end of May. Not really much else has changed around here, for now, but Nicole is a senior now and will be off to college next year.
  18. Got a reply this morning from Troy at midway, he basically said Larry was too busy to read email messages. I did not attempt to call hooyman. I already took the package to the nearest ups store, cost me about $15 in gas and traffic was a huge headache, but it is done.
  19. Interesting. Have used the same stuff for many years on horses and cows. What you have in the pic for the video appears to be the same brand I currently have, gordons? The permethrin has a slight odor to it that I can smell(if I can smell it, I know a whitetail deer can smell it), does your scent away hide that?
  20. Nice looking mount Frank.
  21. Not something I absolutely had to have, more a convenience and something I could use around the farm to make things a little easier on my aging back and shoulders. Was really a bit of an impulse buy on the "deal" midway had on them. That in mind, I may just hold off until next year and get an echo, or check into a stihl. I have echo gas saw and straight shaft string trimmer, both have the 25.4 motor, have been very happy with them. I know home depot carries the echo and has the 12 inch pole saw for $479, rural king has one for $399, think that is a 10 inch bar. I did have to have my echo chain saw worked on under warranty and it was covered no questions asked, only downside was it is 40 minutes away to that shop, which is also our kubota dealer. Pretty sure I have seen where stihl is in the rechargeable saw market now and I fully trust either of those brands. The lowes(kobalt) brand did also have a 10 inch 80 volt saw. Think it was about $80-90 more. I will do more research before I buying another.
  22. Don't think Larry appreciates my business, or from the looks of it anyone's, ironic? I get a ton of emails from them, but never really minded, that was actually what led me to the "great deal" on the hooyman saw. Gonna put them on the spam list as soon as this order issue is resolved. If for some reason I do not get back full credit on my order, I will be in touch with my card company, (cabelas) and will put the order in dispute. May have to file a bbb complaint too. Bad thing is it will be Tuesday before I can even get to the closest ups store, so I have to look at this box laying in my living room floor until then. Crash and burn midway(not too big to fail). I am done with them.
  23. Evidently from some of the reviews I am seeing midway has been selling a known bad batch of these things, some people have had to go through 3 to get one that even works, they have more patience than I do. After looking a little more at saws, I ran across this https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-40-volt-Lithium-Ion-8-in-Cordless-Electric-Pole-Saw-Battery-Included/1000180467. Looks real similar in specs and appearance to the hooyman, but has a 5 year warranty on the saw and 3 on the battery, and a lowes no hassle return policy. Lowes is a heck of lot closer than the ups store too. Guess weighing the cost of a replacement battery down the road vs cost of gas saw.
  24. Got a little ahead of yourself eh Tim. lol. Need to mow the yard and do some cleaning up around the yard at some point. Probably shoot the crossbow a few times to make sure all is good there.
  25. I gave Larry my number in the email I sent early this morning, have yet to hear from him or anyone from midway for that matter. They lost one customer over their handling of this, I doubt I will ever do business with them again. This saw never even got anywhere close to the rpm's of a gas saw. I would guess it may have gotten a tenth the speed of the echo I used in the past. I could have cut the limb in a lot less time with my corona hand operated pole saw.
