Too wet and rotten to do much around here. Wife was at a church stew sale good part of yesterday, took the family to a late valentine's dinner last night and said as we were getting in the durango that it felt prime for tornadoes. At that time we were under flood warnings, by the time we got home tornado watches popped up and then not long later had 2 tornadoes on the ground less than 10 miles to our north. They tracked east and missed us but still pretty rough here, had pea sized hail. Gonna survey the damage after I put out hay. Dreading getting the tractor out in this slop, but animals have to eat and not quite enough grass yet although it is coming in pretty quick.

They say the groundhog saw his shadow, the only groundhog I have ever seen on our place did not live to see groundhog day so he did not see his shadow. lol. Looking like spring here, gonna have to mow my weeds and wild onions very soon. Been unseasonably warm too. Have buttercups blooming all over the place. Yeah, flooding going on here too, been a very very wet season so far.

The absolute poorest coverage I can remember ever. Seems all they are showing is the same events over and over on the few nbc channels that are carrying coverage.

What you describe sounds familiar, but add in body feeling like been run over by a train and no energy. Just getting over a week of the flu here, woke up this morning feeling much better. Hope you get to feeling better soon Joe.
-
Trying to get over the flu here, dunno that I will be doing much. Our 6 year old hasn't quite kicked it yet either

Beat me to it. lol. Maybe Tim at least found Bill's place. Worked out of Macon for about 3 months back in the early 90's, made it to the Columbus area pretty often. Probably drove by rt headquarters and didn't even know it.

Sounds like it worked great for you Lewis. So no excuses for missing now, if you can see it you better be able to hit it right. lol Had great vision most my life but has been rapidly getting worse and worse the past 5 or so years more so my near vision. Wife says my heart and blood pressure problems probably hadn't helped matters.

Saw that one a number of times, he kept his distance from the does when the old busted up buck was around. He was probably a little late for the action on that group. Yeah, we try to let the does be live bait for the bucks. Pays off sometimes.

Worked on sorting and cleaning some brass this morning, need to load up more of the varmageddon tipped rounds. Our 6 year old has the flu, so sitting with him, played lego dimensions with him when he has been feeling better. Numbscalls send their kids to school when they know they are sick against school policy which says they have to be free of a fever with NO medicine for a minimum of 24 hours before they can return to school. Second time in the past two weeks the poor little guy has been running a fever, and sure he will be out tomorrow since he is still running a fever today. It is a nasty wet sloppy mess here anyway, not like I can do much with the tractor, made a big muddy mess around my barn putting hay out yesterday but had to get animals hay.

Use our honda all over our farm. The bearclaws do fine in the sand and the mud and did ok in the snow we had last month. They are a little more aggressive than the original tires and as such they are not as easy on the grass in the yard. I do use the 4 wheeler to run a sprayer around the yard and also to pull a sweeper, so not too sure how I am gonna like the tires for that.

Was a pretty good game.

Looked like the eagles back lowered his head to drive his helmet to me. Deliberate helmet to helmet is unsportsmanlike imo whether called or not. Looking like it's gonna come down to who has the ball in their hands last. Yeah switched to Fox news at halftime only to see Clinton and Lewinsky.
-
Eagles offensive line getting away with a lot of holds not called. That continues suspect the eagles probably will win the game. Surprised the blatant helmet to helmet hit on Cooks was not called.

Chris posted a while back in the mod room, think he posts on facebook some but not on facebook myself so dunno.

Have a safe trip Ross. Sure you will have fun.

Good luck to Emma with her games. More odds and ends work around here to do this weekend. Really need to sharpen a few chains for saws and get busy doing some cleanup work. May try to kill some beavers, having an issue with them damming a drain channel again and they are getting too good at building my traps into dams without tripping them. Gonna watch the game Sunday, hope it is a good one.

The better defenses usually win games, and in all reality imho the Eagles should be the favorites in this superbowl. With that being said, hope to see the Brady and the Patriots win.

Yeah, think it has some glitches John, would not pay much attention to it. Posts can be liked or given thumbs down, which show up too in the way of monthly post "leaders". Have noticed mods cannot like other mods posts or at least I am unable to like other mods posts.

That is an amazing view Dave. Thanks for sharing with us.

Always enjoy these posts. Killing a treed animal does not seem to me to be all that sporting, but it is legal and where so I guess more power to those who enjoy it. Really boils down to a persons own ethics and morals as to how each individual will view that type of "hunting". Big differences and challenges with hunting different scenarios. In places where you can see for miles on game that may not be as wary or skittish would be far different than hunting in more dense places where you have very limited many areas to actually see an animal. Like I mentioned earlier this morning, water holes out west in many places are a big draw, as where places around here there is so much water and cover a deer can go undetected for years if not for them losing their better senses during the rut.
-
Do quite a bit of blind calling here with the grunt call and have had some pretty good luck with it. Usually most effective late in the pre rut and into the rut. Deer here this past season seemed a good bit more vocal than I have noticed in years past, had a couple grunting that I never saw and then the 8 I killed grunted coming across out of my view. Does will come to a grunt call too, at the right time pulling in a doe with a grunt can pay off big.

Think it is all relative to the situation Dave. Hunting here is by no means similar to hunting large tracts in the west or even large ag fields here where deer come out like clockwork daily. I mean you could hunt an only water source for miles in the west where you know animals are going to come to. Is that any less fair than hunting a planted food source in an area that has small tracts with thick bottom ground broken up by hundreds of acres of ag crops that give deer an abundant source of food that the hunter really is merely chancing that he/she may get lucky on any given day and find the deer decide to use the food they strategically planted as opposed to eating the corn or soybeans in the large fields around them where there are a number of other hunters? So to answer the question, the best fair chase hunt would probably be spot and stalk with a handmade stick and string with no optics and in old flannel. That said even the native Americans used "technology" to better their odds.

Good to see you posting Dave. I don't think using a vehicle to cover ground where legal makes someone a poacher. Shooting from a vehicle on a roadway in my view is not the same as using a truck to cover ground then getting out and spotting and stalking. Like you say, I would guess unless someone is physically impaired and has a permit for it then doubt there is anywhere that allows for shooting from a vehicle that is licensed to be on the road. You drive your truck to your hunting area, then is that also in your mind poaching? I mean if you are hunting a large piece of property several sq miles that would be impossible to cover on foot to get where you think you want to be then getting out and spotting and stalking, I don't see a great deal of difference from driving to your hunting area. Riding around and taking advantage of animals from a roadway is just not the same, especially when those animals may be accustomed to traffic and pay little attention to vehicles. Most my experience has been hunting from stands. Only time I have hunted spot and stalk was with Steve Beilgard in Wyoming. I would like to go back someday and I would hunt the same way I did when we hunted with him. Drive to different areas, then climb to the tops of vantage points and spot and try to move in. With all that being said, TN changed our regs a few years back to ALLOW shooting from a motorized non road licensed road vehicle as long as that vehicle is stationary at the time of taking the shot, making it legal to shoot from farm vehicles like tractors and also atv/utv's. I personally do not agree with that reg. I speculate that there are some around that carry their corn in their side by sides, dump it then shoot what comes to their bait(baiting is still illegal here). That infuriates me, game warden is stretched to thin to tromp through these swamps to find bait piles. I regularly see a 90's model chevy hauling his side by side with his buckets in the bed of the side by side coming and going on a property just up the road from me. Too many times on calm quiet mornings sitting in my stand I have heard them ride in, shoot and then ride out.

Guess I am missing something, why in the world have and are the eagles being considered to be "underdogs" when they won their division and had homefield advantage. If anything with their stats they should have been/should be favorites.
