  1. Had a 14 here this morning with n wind steady at 12 and gusting to 16. Some local windchills were negative. Sure here with the bottom ground around and the damp air it was probably much cooler than where the temps were taken in town. Our heat has been running non stop, keeps kicking to aux heat, the heat pump cannot keep up. Probably gonna look into adding a stove or furnace before next winter.
  2. No plans here and definitely won't be going anywhere Sunday other than church. Might try to see if we can stay up til the ball drops at 11 in NYC with the girls, but dunno. Probably check a beaver set tomorrow after hunting and also check the 2 cams I have out right now.
  3. Lol. Sissy or maybe you are just getting old Tim.

    Range finder

Have an older model bushnell here, compact 800. No complaints about the rangefinder, but I won't buy bushnell products anymore. They abandoned customers in some of their acquisitions of other brands rendering lifetime warranties for those customers not worth the paper they are written on. I would not hesitate to buy nikons.

    Boots

Really depends a lot on where you are. Usually early season here I wear snake boots. Been pretty happy with cabelas lines of boots. If I were hunting elsewhere that it was colder and less potential for venomous snakes would likely just wear a pair of 400 gram thinsulate rubber boots.
  6. Had a bull calf this morning when I was coming back in trying to get water from a frozen drain at the end of a culvert under my driveway. Had to bust the top 3 inches of ice out of the water troughs. I don't run any trough heaters.
  7. Had to go help someone get their truck started earlier, had 18 actual temp at 10 am on the car thermometer. It was 21 in town, had 0 on my phone as the real feel on accuweather. Gotta go break some ice for our cows to get water now.
  8. lol. Yeah saw this yesterday and thought the same. Imagine all the old cabelas games that had trophies and online stuff are probably no longer working. Welcome to the forums coalminer89.
  9. Catrina thought she saw him on the way to a stand yesterday afternoon around 3 pm. Then she saw him again about 30 minutes later but had no clear shot. Stand she hunted is about 50 yards from where I had seen the deer at 9:15 am so guessing he is probably bedding very close to that area.
  10. Seen that just a few times here using 115 grains loose triple 7 and 240 grain xtp mags. Strange how sometimes you can hit shoulder and get an exit but hit the much lighter rib bones and the bullet not exit. Seems best as I recall the few I had that did not exit were also with closer shots, which kind of goes against the expectation in knowing the velocity is higher closer.
  11. Yeah, forecasts here been all over the place. Had some single digit temp forecasts here for next week with highs not getting out of the 20's. Real feel here this morning in town according to accuweather had us at 2. Figure out here it may be a bit cooler.
  12. Congratulations. What are you shooting, powder amount/type and bullet? Have had several here that we did not get pass through's, usually hit some bone somewhere between when that happens though.

    Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone. Another masterpiece from Ross you got there Frank. Waiting with my 6 year old on updates on our slow internet for the kids xbox here.
  14. Hope everyone has had a merry Christmas.
  15. Still not the greatest pic, but can see the other side a little better here, busted 4 on the right and busted 3 on the left. Catrina has not been much more, but he was still alive on the 15th. If I see him again, still dunno if I will kill him. As late in the season as it has gotten, should not be many around here still with an open buck tag, most have switched to quacker whackin.
  16. Had to get another airbag recall taken care of and was due for another 5 year powertrain inspection to keep the warranty intact so finally got an opportunity and took it in. The advisor told me over the phone before we drove over there that they had diagnostics that would be able to go way deeper than my scanner that they could find any issue. Since the active fuel management system would not work with the code tripped I cleared it out about a month ago to get better gas mileage, and wouldn't you know it it has not tripped it again since. It only trips the code when it has set for a good while then it might trip it several times, as in I clear it and it trips it over and over. It has done this on both cylinder 4 and 6. The dealer was unable to find any issues. Oh well, the tech told me it had to either be the solenoids or more likely the harness under the intake may have been chewed on by rodents. So, now my question after driving home is if mice chewed the wiring harness under the intake, which is entirely possible since we have a problem with mice in our garage, why does this only happen sometimes and more often after the durango has sat, like not been driven for 2 or 3 weeks? If the harness was compromised to the point it was causing issues while driving my experience with electronics would lead me to believe it would not be so intermittent. thoughts?
  17. On my phone so have not watched your clip Martin but guessing it has to do with the greatest gift ever given. Probably the most quoted and to me the single most important and easy to understand verse in the bible, John 3:16.

    kinda cool

Have video of one walking across my back field during our youth hunt several years ago carrying a rabbit. Dunno if I would be able to get it to share here now since photobucket changed their structure and charges.

    kinda cool

lol. Yeah Corey, if I did not already have one mounted I might have. Figure the cats are doing what the yotes can't with regards to the nasty hen turkeys that hide in the spring then eat/hammer my food plot seed in the fall.
  20. Umm turn on the news already Martin, it is gonna be armageddon. lol. Yeah, tax cuts for most Americans and repeal of the o'nocare mandate. Dems spinning it hard as the end of civilized world as we knew it. Did not watch your vid, if it has hitlary would rather not, might corrupt my laptop.
  21. Merry Christmas to all. Everyone have a safe and very Merry Christmas. Cooking a turkey on the smoker tomorrow for Sunday, probably also bake a couple each of pies pecan and fudge. Christina(our oldest) should be home some time tomorrow. Will hopefully get a few sits in a stand between everything, maybe get Christina out to a stand. Have Sunday morning service and candlelight communion service Sunday so probably eat midday and have leftovers after church Sunday night. Have some Christmas cartoons on the dvr to put on sometime, probably watch its a wonderful life on Christmas eve while waiting for the kids to go to sleep. Yeah sure our boy will have us up early on a Christmas morning(non school day), he is bass ackwards. Up at 5:30 or earlier on non school days and have to drag him out of bed at 6 am on school days. lol. Again wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
  22. Lol. Hang in there Jerry. Still a couple weeks of deer season left here then will be shifting focus more to whacking yotes and beaver.
  23. Really stumped here John, there are no restrictions to your profile. I have looked at your profile and there is nothing there any different than any other member. I will pass this on to Clint and Scott though, maybe Clint can look further than what I am able to see.
  24. One of my favorite newer Christmas song for sure. Think the first version I remember of it was Kenny Rogers and either Wynona or Dolly Parton. A lot of good versions too from the original to the acapella from pentatonix. Have heard Hallelujah performed in our church by a member as well as some others that rank right up there too.
