  1. Re: Passed on a decent 8 this morning (video) Very cool, hopefully you get the same chance on him next year.
  2. Re: its my birthday! Happy birthday. A bday deer would be a great gift, good luck.
  3. Re: Matthews Switchback XT or Bowtech Tribute [ QUOTE ] shoot both if you can and decide for yourself, both are great bows. [/ QUOTE ] Very good advice. I shoot the Switchback and love it. Fast, quiet, and smooth, I don't think you would be disappointed. I have never shot the Tribute though....
  4. Re: opening day doe Congrats that is awesome.
  5. Re: My Roommate\'s Muley... Congrats, that is an awesome deer.
  6. Re: Found the buck....finally.....! That is great, I am so glad you got him. That is a great deer. A lot of character.

    Doe Pee

Re: Doe Pee I know I have not seen any pre rut activity but I am down in Missouri.....
  8. Re: My Brand Spankin New Mutt Bow! Good looking setup. Hope you have a chance to get one early with it. I bought a Switchback late last year and didn't get a shot with it until this year, but my third time in a stand I whacked a doe. Good luck and congrats.
  9. Re: ***Here is a touchy subject...lets talk about I agree but you can't single people out. I have not seen anyone say, hey I took a shot I knew I shouldn't have and it was a bad hit so I just said forget it. Everyone has lost deer, and everyone has missed their mark. I know it tore me up in the past. I have shot two with my bow that I never found, but for those two I have killed about fifteen. I agree that if you just want to wound stuff, then don't post it, it does not belong here. On the other hand I don't really think that has been the case. If you look in the Hunter Success Thread posted that nice buck that is the first post started as a post of a deer not found on Oct. 1, and he stuck with it and look what he came up with.
  10. Re: Went out this morning. Hard to judge from one morning, but if you saw one you can bet more are using that area.
  11. Re: Ordering a new bow tonight!!!!! Now all you have to do is find the deer. Nice new rig.
  12. Re: Last night\'s hunt and my new Honey Hole It is good that you ran into someone and they were actually nice about it. So many times people forget it is public land, and that means anyone can hunt anywhere at anytime.
  13. Re: MN Sept Bruiser Wow, that is a great deer. Congrats.
  14. Re: Windy Days I will hunt windy days if I planned on getting out in advance. I usually don't sit as long and use those days to scout. Scouting should not end with the beginning of bow season.....
  15. Re: A little early? Hope you got a hot spot picked out, sounds pretty good. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  16. Re: Quiver on or off? Off for sure. But remember if you keep it on in your stand you should practice at the range with it on....
  17. Re: FIRST BOW KILL Thats just awesome. Congrats.
  18. Re: Mathews machine Good deal, glad you had some success. Congrats on the meat.
  19. Re: preventing or muffling coughs I don't go out of my way to worry about it, but I have also heard good things about those cough silencers that are out there.
  20. There are some great public areas to hunt in Missouri. I go up to Mark Twain Lake a lot to hunt the National Forest. Does anyone out there hunt that same area, or would anyone be interested in heading up there for a weekend. We usually go up with four or five guys and the more the merrier in my book. I would like the chance to meet some more local Missouri hunters. And if you want to pay for the out of state tag, the not so locals are welcome. Let me know what you all think, just think it sounds like a good weekend of hunting, camp fires, and the occasional adult beverage.
  21. Re: When to hunt? I think the trail cams are a great idea. They make some infrared cams that do not flash but still take night shots. Some people think the flash spooks them, so that is an option. But Hoyt is right, no one can put you on those deer, you just have to spend time in your stand. If you did not spook any deer out of there then you should be ok to hunt when you would like. Scent is the other obvious concern, but you can't change what is already in there. I would make sure you pick a good trail to enter and exit your stand so you leave as little human scent in there as possible.
  22. Re: Shot a doe opening morning(pics) Congrats on the doe. Hope the rest of your season is just as successful.
  23. Re: In 24 hours... That great you did that yourself. The best of luck to you and let us know if you stick one.
  24. Re: When to hunt? That is a hard question. I think the evening(the last hour of hunting) is best for hunting those scrape lines. The first hour is also good. That is all very obvious. If the bucks stay in there during the rut hunting all day is good to catch them running does. I know guys who have shot monsters at one in the afternoon chasing does. But if you are short on when you can hunt, I would stick to afternoons.......
  25. Re: Here\'s a boring post! I hear that. I scouted yesterday afternoon and was going to hunt a new spot, but at 92 degrees, I decided to catch a few bass.
