Well most of you saw my Saskachewan thread last month, well hunting in my home province of Quebec started this morning and it ended quick. After all the work and hours out in the bush it was over in 35 minutes.
I got to my stand at sunup which was 6:30 and at 6:45 had a bout 9 does come in from my right hand side that they have for the last 10 years, I happen to scan to my left and see a really big for this area 8 point coming up the mountain. I decide I am going to take him but have no shot for about 15 minutes and watch him run back down the mountain dogging a doe big time. To my suprise the does came back up the hill with him not far behind. Grunted and stopped him about about 70 yards and my new Encore found its mark. I heart shot him and dropped him where he stood. It was all over in 35 minutes, bitter sweet I guess, I am very happy as this is a quality buck for this area but sad that the time in the great outdoors and with my friends was over that quick.
I had found 3 fresh scrapes the night before opener and put my camera over it, I checked it after the hunt to see a HUGE 10 pointer freshening the scrape at 6:32 and I was there at 6:35, oh well I will try and get him next year.
Here is a pick
