  2. Re: Best turkey ammunition? Hey 404 or should I call you Mossberg Man like on the Total Sportsman forums. Nitro shells can sure do the job with that coated #7 shot!! They claim that #7 Hevishot hits as hard as a #6 - #5 lead pellet!! So by #7 shot being smaller, yes they do cover a bigger part of the pattern, but at the very same time, they hit like a ton of bricks!! I hope that this answers you question for the second time!!!
  3. Re: Pa Turkey Hunters...... As you all know, NY has had a two bird spring season for quite some time, without any problems on our turkey population, as a matter of fact our population has increased over the years. I realize that there are many more hunters in PA, than NY, but the only things that harm the turkey populations in my book are wet/cold springs, along with Natural predators, such as Fox, Coyotes, Raccoon, skunk, etc. Face it, if every single turkey hunter took one spring bird in PA, "THAT" would do some damage to the population in your state, but how many turkey hunters are actually successful? Not being from PA, I would like to see a two bird limit in your state, as well as Sunday hunting as well!!
  4. Re: Hevi-shot choke question I've tried Remington's version of hevishot out of a Tru-Glo choke tube and had good results!! But for the "BEST" results, try Nitro Hevishot loads out of a Rhino choke tube!! One word......AWESOME!! Here is a actual pic of one of my pattern targets. I counted an honest 316 pellets inside that 10" circle at 38 yards. The Nitro load I was using was their #H378 3" load. What can I say, that pattern speaks for itself.
  5. Re: Okay, Since We\'re Talkin\' Shotguns...... Frankly, I can't see why anyone would want to shoot a single shot 10 gauge. The recoil alone would change many people's minds after pulling the trigger on that gun!! As a matter of fact any 10 gauge or even a 3 1/2" 12 gauge is overkill for a turkey!! The 3" magnum in a 12 gauge is more than enough to get the job done!!
  6. Re: What camo pattern do you wear? Mossy Oak and Realtree are the best two brands out on the market!!
  7. Re: 20 vs. 12 I've been a 12 gauge shooter all my life, and don't plan on changing anytime soon. I can see the need for a 20 gauge for a younger shooter or a woman though.
  8. Re: Best turkey ammunition? I agree with Tail feathers as well. Those Nitro loads along with the Rhino choke tube are an awesome combonation for the turkey woods!!

    Yes or No?

Re: Yes or No? No ban here as well!!
  10. Re: Practice...Sitting down.... While on the ground, I prefer shooting from the knee's as well!!
  11. Re: aluminum vs. carbon Beman ICS or Gold Tip carbon arrows. These all carbon arrows are much more durable than the aluminum arrows, and cost wise they are almost the same!! No brainer!!
  12. Re: Camo The two best camo companies out there are Mossy Oak and Realtree. So any pattern that each company put's out is great in my book!!

    Hi-Viz

Jim, I picked up a HIVIZ magnetic front site kit, had several diffrent colored lite-pipes that came with it, altough I prefer the FL. green. The only problem I saw was that it's a lot larger in diameter than a Tru-Glo, hence it covered up the target, making it somewhat difficult to site the gun in. Had a tendency to shoot low with that site on the rib of my gun!! I was wondering if anyone else noticed that problem as well?
  14. Re: Turkey..smart or stupid? Well said Pathfinder!! I agree!!!!
  15. Re: Want a new release I have a Scott mongoose and have been shooting it for the last 7 years now, and I have always thought it to be the best. But I was pleasantly surprized the other day by shooting a Fletchmatic rope release by Jim Fletcher. The group I was shooting with this release was outstanding compared to my mongoose!! This is the release to buy!!
