  1. This guy is something else. Another "deadline" will pass and he hasn't made a decision. He seems a little unsure as to what to do. He'll have the Vikings going into training camp in limbo with no idea as to who their QB may or may not be. And if for some reason he decides to stay retired, he'll have torn apart the Minnesota Vikings without ever suiting up for them. All their big stars have been calling and texting Brent to come play for Minnesota. What message does that send their current QB's, especially if Brent stands up Minnesota and decides not to play for them. Now you have a QB who feels unwanted and untrusted by his teammates. Congrats Minnesota. This DB is now your problem.:hammer1:
  2. AJ has never really been the big hitter I thought he'd be. He makes some big plays, but he has never really lit anyone up (hoping there is a purple #4 he'll light up this year). I'm guessing AJ will be moved to one of the MLB's in the new 3-4 scheme. I think the move should work well. He's never really been a star when in a blitz, but he's a very good coverage linebacker. For what it's worth, I think Clay Matthews will be quite a bit like AJ Hawk in a couple years.
  3. You are exactly right. I'm sure Vikings fans will be pretty excited and all googly-eyed for Brent when he shows up. Just wait for the first 4 INT game and when his bad decisions cost your team some wins. And getting this old duffer, even if he ends up sticking around for a couple years, will be a huge set back for the organization. Minnesota thinks Brent will be a fix for their QB issue. His a band-aid. A band-aid that will come undone as the year goes on. Huh? He started all 16 games as a rookie, and all 16 games the next two years. Guy's got 310 tackles in 32 games, 227 of them solo, 7.5 sacks and 3 INTs all while switching positions...and that's underachieving? I agree, sort of. AJ is a great OLB. However, after the first couple games he played at ILB, he looked lost. I'm sure it is a difficult switch, especially in the middle of the season. This biggest downside to AJ is that he seems to miss a lot of tackles. He tries to go for the legs/feet on a lot of tackles, which ends up with the runner making him miss or breaking free. I think AJ will be a very solid LB for several more years for GB.
  4. I don't know. The trucks had the COT front end (splitter) a year or so before the Cup cars did and they don't have the wing. They could have the same result with a slightly modified blade on the back.
  5. Of course money is important to every sport in America. However, NASCAR used to stick to tradition and their fans. The last several years has been a drastic change to only caring about the almighty dollar (the examples I gave above support that). Most of the big sports, like the NFL, still keep their fans a top priority. If NASCAR still had their fans as a top priority, I highly doubt you'd see the NASCAR you see today. I agree about whats under the hood on the cars. Unfortunately, that is really the only difference in the COT cars. I could certainly do without the "gangster" wing and go back to a blade or more traditional (there is that word again) spoiler on the back.
  6. Where did I say that in my reply? I have lost all emotional attachment to "NASCAR" since about 2004 or so ever since it became a political, Hollywood sporting event. Giving up the traditional Labor Day date at Darlington and switching it to a west coast track that can't even come close to selling out. Taking away both dates from one of their best tracks, Rockingham, because they don't get big enough crowds (you think the lack of seating had anything to do with that?). "NASCAR" has become a sport that is 100% all about money. They've done major damage to their original fan base. The only reason I watch it is because it is racing. And as far as "real American racing", it won't be too long before the foreign name plates far out-number American name plates. I wouldn't be surprised if Dodge is gone in a few years. Ford is already down to just Roush and Yates as their major teams, and Yates stinks. Chevy is droping support for several team, who will probably end up with Toyota. And even though he says he won't, Roger Penske will be making a push for Saturn to be in the Cup Series before too long. How "American" is this sport going to be when Hendrick and RCR are the Chevy teams, Roush is the only Ford team and the rest are Toyota? I guess I'm not watching the same racing series as you. USMTS Mods and WoO Late Models are the best two racing series around. And that my friend is "real American racing."
  7. LOL! Financially, NASCRAP would be a great move for Danica. CRAPCAR gets way more publicity than IRL. Danica would be the next Dale Jr, a sponsors dream. And like Dale Jr, Danica would rely on something other than her racing talent to make her all that money. I think she would really struggle as a stock car driver. The right thing for Danica is to stay in IRL. The best thing for her, however, would be to jump to CASHCAR. She could be lousy at her job and make more money in a year than the series champion would. Kind of like another driver in NAPCAR.:hammer1:

    Such is life...

I'm very sorry to hear that Randy. I wish you the best.
  9. I wouldn't say that. JPM is doing very well with EGR, but that is a dying team. Truex to MWR is an OK move. A driver can help a team a lot. Look what Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman have done at Stewart-Haas (which was a full-time team the last few years). Look what Kyle Busch has done with the 18 team. That was a pretty average team before Kyle Busch came over.
  10. I was watching the one that had the 14, 11, 18 and 48 all single file up front for the entire race. They have no motivation to actually get out there and race on plate tracks. If they do "race", there is a very good chance there will be a big wreck. Getting out front and trying to lead at plate races doesn't do anything either. You can be a 25th place car and still lead at plate races. At least 10-15 cars ALWAYS drop way off the lead pack and ride. Tell me how that is "awesome for the fans." Bingo. Although I don't help my driver during the week on his car (2 1/2 hour drive one way), I know how much time and effort he puts into his car each week. And it shows every time he wins a Feature. There is a lot more pride in wins shown by the local races that work on their own cars than these NASCRAP clowns.
  11. Are you kidding? That was one of the most boring races I've seen in a long, long time. The last two laps were exciting, but the first 158 were terrible. Nothing like watching the top 5 to 10 cars get in a single file line and not race each other. The drivers have no reason to even try to lead with the plates. Plate "racing" is a joke.
  12. FMJ's are very nice arrows. The only draw back is the aluminum exterior. They can dent or get a very slight bend, which will alter the flight quite a bit. However, if you don't group shoot the arrows, you won't have to worry about it.
  13. The main sponsor on the car I pit for is Fire-Up Fireworks. They put one on heck of a show Friday night after the races at the track. It was 25 minutes of non-stop fireworks. We didn't buy any. Had the great show at the track Friday night and we could see three shows from three different towns at my brother's house on Saturday.
  14. Can't argue with that! I've talked with Greg Miller a few times. It would be pretty awesome to bow hunt whitetails with him.
  15. We would have thrown rims at KB.
  16. :robot: :hammer1: :chair::stretcher: Agree to disagree? In all honesty, the guy I pit for is one of the best in the state of Wisconsin. And from first hand experience, we'll take a win any way we can get it. Time shortened, caution shortened, weather shortened, half the field wrecked or just complete domination...it doesn't matter. A win is a win. As long as I can put a check mark on the sheet next to "Go to Victory Lane and Smile", I'm happy.
  17. I was hoping Truex would have thrown his helmet. Nothing beats a little controversy at the track.
  18. Weather is a part of racing. The 20 team gambled to put their driver in position to win the race as EVERYONE knew the rain was coming. Was Joey credited with 1st place when the race became official? We won our first Feature this year because of the time limit. There were quite a few cautions and the time limit was nearing an end. We got the lead and held it until the final caution for the win. No one called it a fluke, even though the race didn't run it's scheduled distance. I guarantee you that no one would be calling this a "fluke" if Earnhardt Jr would have won the rain-shortened race.
  19. I've prayed for rain at the race track before. Unbelievable.
  20. 88 spun his tires on a restart, the 1 checked up to avoid him and the 18 went to the outside of the 1, trying to make it 3-wide. The 18 and 1 got together and it was a mess from there.
