  1. Well, I havent had a smoke in about 2 months now.But I gotta wonder if the alternatives been any better.Went to the doctors office yestersday, Ive gained almost 30 lbs in a couple weeks Ive never wighed over 165 in my life and I was only about 150 lbs when I quit.Im currently pushing 180 Looks like im gonna have to buy a Bow Flex and get all buffed up again like them guys on T.V.
  2. I finally got some results yeterday on whats been wrong with me for thre last 3 months.I went in and first they gave me the results of the liver Function Test they did monday. It was high, which means my livers irritated and not working properly. On the bright side it wasnt off the charts high, just a little elevated. they asked me about drinking, drugs, eating aspirin, and other things but I dont do any of the things they were looking for so he decided to do another blood test to see if I got a weak strain of hepatitus or something going on Then they went ahead and done the scope on my stomach. The camera wasnt working right or Id have pics to post Anyway, theres some bad looking rough spots in my stomach, not cancerous and thier not quite ulcers yet but they shouldnt be there anyway. So he took a culture from my stomach to check for the H-Pylori {spelling??} infection. Apparently the tests supposed to take awhile to finish because they werent gonna have any reults till today. But I was still in recovery about 15 minutes after the scope when the test strip went red Apparently turning that quickly meant i had a pretty bad infection going on because the anestethia guy started hollering at the nurse to get the doctor before he left, and the doctor started calling in prescriptions and they called the lab in to draw some more blood and the whle time I was lying there still half stoned from the anestethia thinking this was all the funniest thing Id ever seen till it dawned on me it was me they were talking about Apparently the infections filtering through my liver causing it to act up and thats where my pains coming from, so odds are the hepatitus tests are a waste of time anyway. Anyway, I leave the hospital about 1/2 hr later, and goto get my prescription.I get up there and they gve me a Prevacid pack, one of the antibiotics is amoxicillian.Wel, I just spent the whole morning telling people that I was allergic to penacillian, not just a little, i swell up and quit breathing if i take it.So I go back in and ask my pharmacist if amoxicillian will kill me and he says yes it will Another call to the hospital and some more people freaking out and they send me home with a 2 week dosage. It might take as long as 4 weeks to feel any better though And theres still a possibility theres more then that going on and some more tests may be needed But for now, we got a good starting point anyway
  3. Re: Time to put things in perspective Oh, the medias definately played a major role in making this look worse than it really is.And believe me, theres nothing Id like more that seeing Bush pull a few thousand pounds of uranium or a substantial amount of chemical warheads out of his hat. That would make a lotta people look awfull bad.I never said they werent there, i just said at this point its been long enough im very skeptical about finding them. Saddam was warned over, and over and given all the time in the world to conceal anyWMD, destroy anything linking him 9-11, cover up any ties to terrorist organizations he had.Im almost positive these things exist or existed but at this point finding any of them seem pretty unlikely. We gave him to much leash at the start and hung ourselves with it Im afraid.
  4. Re: Wanted Ted or alive [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I must admit that I consider most of Ted's 'hunting' shows to be pretty weak in and of themselves. More like shooting to me. New [/ QUOTE ] Your quote is a perfect example of what is meant by hunters "eating their own." The end result of hunting is killing (and eating). Pure and simple. Nugent stresses that fact. Other shows take a more "sensitive" approach to it. Granted, Ted's shows don't spend a lot of time focusing on stalking, stand locations, calling, etc. And it's not easy to squeeze all the details of a day long hunt into 20 minutes of broadcast tape. But, just how many "hunting" shows have you watched where the host of the show goes home empty handed? They are ALL about the kill. That's why we do it, and that's why they do it. And, quite frankly, if Tred, or Ted, or Michael, or any other host only broadcast episodes of walking through the woods and going home skunked - who would watch it??? Might as well change the station and watch some artist paint "happy little trees." If a "hunter" is opposed to meat-gathering, they should leave the weapon at home and hunt with a camera. Unfortunately our euphorian friends, with the help of Walt Disney, have forced "hunters" to dance around the sensitivity of those who don't. I do enjoy just being outside and getting away from the daily grind as much as the next guy. But when I go "hunting" there is only one "end" that I am seeking, and that is the death of an animal that I intend to injest. Call it "hunting" or "shooting" or "meat-gathering". Question the means to the end if you will, but the end is still the same. Now please pass the gravy. [/ QUOTE ] Im gonna go with what he said
  5. Re: Time to put things in perspective Dont get me wrong Texan. All Im saying is dont believe everything that Bushs administrations putting on the table.I see way to many people that seem to let political party affiliations cloud thier judgement. [ QUOTE ] There was also the small matter of Saddam's refusal to abide by numerous UN Resolutions, failure to cooperate with international inspections, and firing at US aircraft in Southern Iraq's no-fly zone. [/ QUOTE ] Those are all facts, nobody can dispute them. The whole world saw these things happen.were they reason enough to go in, IMO yes, he had been warned it would happen. The rest of it, the WMD, the terrorist ties, theyre things that for all practical purposes the administrations been unable to prove. I think there was plenty of cause to got war with that country with Bushs administration telling the public things they had no way of proving, they couldnt prove it then, they still cant now.In that sense they kinda dug thier own grave by making statements they couldnt back up with facts. Remember when this war started 9-11 was still fresh in this countries mind. All they had to do was say Sadamm was warned, he didnt comply with inspections, and we coulda sent troops in.The country was still pissed off enough at that time we wouldnt have taken much convincing to invade any country in the middle east.Instead they make all these other claims based on bad intelligence or unsubstainable sources and act suprised when people question it. While I agree wholeheartedly with the war , I dont think that Bushs administrations been very honest in all the details concerning why were there, and i cant believe anyone else could swallow all this without any doubt at all.
  6. Re: Time to put things in perspective Texan Im not opposed to the war and I voted for GW but even I cant see where most of what you just posted is evidence of anything thats not happening all over that region. Seriously, there is or was anyway, training camps in a lotta coutries right around there. Terrorists have traveled freely around in all those countries for many many years, them happening to be in Iraq doesnt really mean anything. Saddam had some of them in Baghdad, again that doesnt mean a lot.We gave Saddam the keys to major US city, that doesnt conclusively link us to terrorism.Things happen all the time. Im not sticking up for Saddam in any way and I can honestly say from the perspective of seeing all of saddams torture, and rape rooms shut down and those people liberated the war was a good thing. But even some of you die hard Bush supporters gotta start noticing that a lotta the reasons that were given for this war were a crock. The WMD that were found were so few and far between they werent a threat to anyone unless they happened to trip over them. The ties between Saddam and al-queda are so thin according to what Ive read that most of its probably coincidental, The CIA even said [ QUOTE ] Our understanding of the relationship between Iraq and Al Qaeda is evolving and is based on sources of varying reliability. [/ QUOTE ] Like I said I voted for GW and I probaby would again. And the wars had more psitive things come from it thn it has negative near as I can tell. But I cant believew anyone can sit there and blindly believe half this crap that Washington shovels out with a straight face.Escpecially when its being based on "sources of varying reliability".
  7. Re: how many times have you been married....???? [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Disclaimer: Nobody should follow Horsts advice, ever, under any circumstances, I mean it, dont do it. [/ QUOTE ] If we follow your advice and don't follow your advice, are we still following your advice? Currently on #2, for the time being. [/ QUOTE ] Im not real sure
  8. My buddy called the other day and told me a big buck was hit and laying out on the highway outside of town.He picks mre uop and we drive out there, sure enough a buck had been chasing a doe and they both got nailed by the same car trying to cross the highway.Im glad it wasnt my car is all I can say, hitting em one at a times bad enough We go down in the ditch and theres about a 125-130 class 9 pointer lying there, hes all busted up and theres not much left to salvage off of him.My buddy wants to wack the antlers off right there but I tell him its illegal and we gotta go call for a salvage tag.Hes running late for a meeting or something so he takes me home and I get in with the wife and kids who are just heading that way.My plan was to go back to the deer so nobody else took the rack and call for a tag from there with the cell phone. We get out there and a cars backed down into the ditch and two girls are standing there with the trunk open putting plastic down in the trunk.I fugure they gotr a tag and are gonna take the whole deer the way thier doing all this in broad daylight so we go on past. On the way home I notice the deers still lying in the ditch Im not sure what to think of that till we get closer. Those two girls hadnt gotten a tag for the deer, they had just pulled down there and wacked the whole head off in broad daylight on the side of a busy highway Id of never thought two younger looking girls in a nice car like that would have been capable of it, but theyd sawn the whole head off and made off with it.
  9. Re: how many times have you been married....???? Once, we lived together for like 14 years years now but have only been married like 5.Im just guessing at those numbers .More people should follow my lead.Live together for awhile, have a few kids, see how things work out before rushing into marriage Disclaimer: Nobody should follow Horsts advice, ever, under any circumstances, I mean it, dont do it.
  10. Got my test results back yesterday, apparently my gall bladders functioning perfectly normaly. Now the doctors are starting to act a little more seriously towards it.Theyre even asking me questions now that are kinda freaking me out, any family history of cancer in the family, and history of liver desiease, etc...I know theyre routine questions but the way people have been dropping like flies around here I hate hearing em anyway, it scares the crap outta me.Anyway, thursday I go in for a scope of my belly and whatever else they can reach from there Meantime my mother in laws got pnumonia and got it bad, shes on oxygen indefinately and cant hardly get outta bed.Mom and Dad are back down in Iowa City getting dads cancer checked out and my wifes hit a stage in her RN schooling where missing any classes/clinicals could mean the difference between passing and failing So feeling like crap myself Im telling people Im fine, watching the kids, trying to get my in laws foundation finished, and trying to keep a bunch of customers happy whos houses i havent gotten to yet , while im operating on about 1 1/2 of sleep a night and my pain pills arent having much more affect then Flintstones VitaminsWhat did Forrest Gump say, Lifes like a box of chocolates
  11. Re: Puggles....who woulda thought..... [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I kinda want a pitoodle. Vicious and arrogant. [/ QUOTE ] But wait..... there's already a breed with those paticular characteristics and it's called MEN. LOL [/ QUOTE ] Suppose I should be offended by that but there could be a little truth to it
  12. Re: Daylight savings Rumor true?? [ QUOTE ] God forbid that ever take place, the people that live in NC couldn't handle it. Let me tell you how people in NC, especially in the area I live in react to stuff. I am from Florida, I did not grow up having to deal with ice or snow to say the least, every now and then scrap some frost off the windshield, I saw some flurries once in the early 90's, you would think that living further north and having to deal with that stuff would freak me out right, man, not like these people around here. I've been through weather while I was OTR trucking to make these people around here run and hide until Spring. If there are flurries or light snow forecasted, they buy up every loaf of bread and jug of water for the next 2 weeks, like there is a blizzard coming to shut them up for a month, same thing with a hurricane, by the time it gets here, it's heavy rain and wind, people board up around here like they're on the coast. Don't even mention ceasing daylight savings time around here, they're liable to think the worlds coming to an end, Y2K'08 or something. [/ QUOTE ] Really, around here if theres a bad blizzared coming we might go so far as to look in the garage for the snowshovel and make sure theres enough gas in the car.Other than that we just trade our regular camo in for white camo and hunt through it
  13. Ok, not a lot people enjoy telemarketers calling them at home. But lately, ive been getting all sorts of these calls that arent even real people, theyre recordings.I dont know about you guys but at least if its a real person I can screw with them a little bit before hanging up on them, these pre recorded messages are just annoying. You cant even holler at anyone when theyre done.My biggest complaint though is since these pre recorded ones started, ive been getting dozens of hang up calls a day, the phone rings, but nobodies there when you pick it up.Maybe its time for caller ID
  14. Re: Thinking of Sending out my Resume. Im personally not one to let a job make me miserable, and Ive quit several for a lot less reason than you have. But I had a egotistical foreman once, not only was he always on a power trip, he was dangerous to work for as a reult of it. I decided to quit, and told the head boss i was gonna.he told my foremamn and he started begging me to stay cause I was the only one on the crew with any previous experience. He promised to make me 2nd in charge of the crew and give me the raise that came with it if I stayed.i told him Id think about it and later told him ok Id do it.That way the next time a postion came up for foreman Id be in line for it.The puke put me off for a few weeks, then gfave the promotion and raise to some 19 yr old puke with about 6 months experience Then he asked me to show the kid how to do his job Moral of the story is no matter what they say to get you to stay, nothings ever gonna really change there and lifes to short to stay at a job you hate.Get the resumes out ad see what happens. Then you can really enjoy telling your boss to shove his job up his...ummm....nose
  15. Re: Time to put things in perspective [ QUOTE ] someone's got some time on their hands. I know what you are saying I just that more people care about what is going on now because it directly effects them. President Clintons transgressions has no bearing on me. Also be careful with saying someone is accused of something. Anyone or anything can be accused. But your point is well taken. Also on another note a good number of our represenatives cannot recieve a credit card for one reason or another. that is strange to me seeing as how I get 3 a night in my mail! There are, unfortunatly, a lot of crooks representing the people in washington. Democrats and Republicans! [/ QUOTE ] Huh???
  16. Re: This is getting crazy. They took an ultrasoundof the kidneys when they did the gall bladder, matter of fact they checked all the organs when they did that.It hurts on the right side but when it gets real bad it goes clear down my back on both sides, thats why I also thought it was probably my kidneys at first.Course the first time it moved into my chest I thought I was having a heart attack to so nothing suprises me anymore Oh well, pain or not, im gonna sit in my treestand tonight if it kills me
  17. My doctors been doing some tests on me to figure out why my stomachs been hurting.I have a pretty good tolerance for pain, i cut my thumb off a while back and was able to laugh and joke with the doctor/nurses while they were looking at it.But i just about went back to the ER the other night, the pain was so intense it moved all the way up into my chest. It started almost 3 months ago, they thought it was muscular damage from a electrical shock I took at work, I was given muscle relaxers and told to see the chiropractor for rehabilitation of the muscles.i did that, I even felt a little better after 4 weeks of that. But my stomach started acting up badly during that time.I thought it was from eating all the muscle relaxers but after i quit taking them it continued. Went back to the doctor 3 weeks ago, I woke up that morning hurting so bad I couldnt hardly straighten out.She ordered a ultra sound of my Gall bladder thinking that was it.I went in later that week, got it done and waited almost a week for the results . They came back normal, so she referred me to a surgeon for a scope down my throat to see if i have any ulcers or hernias or anything like that.Got an appointemt with him, for a week later for a consult Finally got in to talk to him and he wants to do one more test on my gall bladder before ruling that out and doing the scope. This was on Monday, I cant get the test done till Friday then wont have any results till next monday So I leave the doctors office Monday thinking this really sucks, I cant believe it takes this long to get my gall bladder checked out.And after I get home and the pain starts flaring up and my wifes ready to haul me off to the ER wich I figure will be a pointless trip so i talk her out of it.Then it dawns on me, Ive seen 4 doctors at this point, told everyone of them Im in a lotta pain, and theyve done absolutely nothing for it except set up a series of tests which thier stretching out for over a month. Not even an aspirin have they given me I go back to the doctors office tuesday.they make me waqit for over 2 hours to see a doctor.Im not happy at all by the time she gets back there. She adks what she can do for me, I tell her whats been going on and I need some pain killers and something for my stomach since most medicines really irritate it.She asks what Im taking currently and I tell her she never prescribed me anything for it.She tells me Im mistaken and looks in my chart. Long story short she feels really bad now for leaving me sitting at home with a bad gall bladder{I hope} and in terrible pain with no medication for it I hate that hospital, I pray veryday that something else comes along but its not likely in my little rural area Anyway, hopefully Monday Ill know more, untill then I did get some codine so i cant run any power tools
  18. Re: This Makes me sick Funny thing, a couple years ago i posted a question in here and had almost 100% agreement on something.People {mostly bowhunters responded} didnt look at their watches when it was getting close to dark and a shot oppurtunity presented itself. As long as they could still see thier sights clearly they would shoot regardless of what time shooting hoyurs actually ended.A large majority didnt even wear watches to thier stands so they had no way of knowing if theyd shot a deer after legal hours. We all know that legal shooting hours and the time its actually to dark to shoot are usually 2 entirely different things,. I guesse what Im getting at is this, a few minutes or 2 hours, thier both outta season. So why is everyone so willing to admitt to shooting a couple minutes late but ready to string this kid up for the exact same crime???I just find that interesting.

  23. Re: Getting kid of worried Im sure the babies fine, just not quite ready to come out yet.My oldest boy done that but he got stuck coming out with the cord around his neck, after 18 hrs of labor they did an emergency C-section on him.The last two were also C-sections.It doesnt take much for em to drop back into position, sounds like yours is just being a little stubborn right now LOL Good luck, let us know what happens.
  24. Re: Guys, Please work your magic! Jeez Ryan, thats tough luck, hope things work out for you
  25. Re: Hurricane Aid Question I gotta agree with slugshooter on that.I look at it more in terms of going for food, water, temporary housing, clean up, rebuilding, etc...On this one the recovery efforts along musta run up a fortune.Honestly the way they went through the money the first few weeks Im not sure theres a lot left to divide up among anyone
