I have zero personel experience with a Charles Daly but here is a link to their shotguns Charles Daly

Re: 835 shells and chokes I must be getting old. I know I use the Ulti-Full Factory choke for my 835 but I can not remember what shells I have. I know one is a Wichester 3 1/2 with #6 shot and the other is 3 inchers in #5's but which brand they are off hand . Guess I will look come March and redo some patterning just to be doing it. I for one once I find something that works will not change for the sake of change.

If the gun has changeable chokes, pattern it with the full choke tube before you go & spend money on another one. The full choke may give you a good pattern out to 30-35 yards.. Re: Ohio Slug Season Recap Congrats to you and your son We had a fun week. My wife took her first shot ever at a deer but missed. The rest had chances but no deer in the freezer this week.

Re: Question From Realtree Video Dept. My biggest complaint is the music that is added to the video. I like to hear the natural sounds even if it is silence. I enjopy watching Bill,David and Michael doing the hunting. Foxworthy and Travis are good ones also. I also would like to see Scott Hughes doing at least 1 each year. Take a child once in a awhile also. Bowhunting,Gunhunting and Muzzleloaders....get it all in. Info on the screen to where,when and times would be good also. I did not care for the archery tourney. Way too many people . Do something new like show some bloopers in between. etc etc etc

Re: Turkey gun ????????? I like both models and use a 835 for my turkey hunting. I have no problems with the recoil shooting the 3 1/2 inchers. But that is me. However because a model can shoot them it does not mean you have to. The rest of my family have the 870's and they also perform pretty well. I plan on using my sons 20 gauge 870 in the future for some turkey hunting. But I also believe that everybody's choice is the right one also. It all comes back to what makes you happy and gives you confidence. If anybody wants me to test out their choice of shotgun for turkey hunting....I can travel

[/ QUOTE ] I agree that it should be left up to the parents or sometimes the person who would take the child. In Ohio the youth can hunt alone at 16 unless it is a "youth" season. Otherwise they must be with a adult. The adult can not take more than 2 youths. In Ohio the youth must pass a Hunter's Education Course before obtaining a license. There is a bill in the state legislature that will create a "Apprentice HUnter License". I think it allows the person/youth to hunt for 3 years before getting the course completed. I have read the bill and the way it looks there might be change to 18 before hunting alone. There are many youngsters who have surprised me with their maturity and common sense. Then there are those alleged adults who act more childish than a 5 year old. Age is not maturity.... it has been proven more than once even here.
