  1. Sorry for your loss of the doe...thats always a hard pill to swallow! On another note...rest assured it wasn't the rage heads fault. The shot was either not where you thought it was...or you just lost the blood trail. If it was a good shot...she's gotta be there somewhere, any broadhead shot through the vitals of a deer will kill that deer.
  2. Well...I usally don't like hunting in the rain, but I went out Thurs. evening in the rain. It was cold and raining, so I dressed for it. About an hour before dark I had a nice (at least an 8pt.) feeding up the hill towards me. Grabbed the bow...got drawn right before he entered my shooting lane. Stopped him at about 18 yards broadside...shot under him...missed him clean!:hammer1: I have no idea what happened. Fast forward to Fri. evening...again, cold and raining...just to be sure, I trashed a rage head by shooting at a tissue on the bank. Hit about an 1" low at 20 yards...not the bow! In stand, had 12 deer in the field...6 right in front of me. 3 adult does and 3 button bucks. Long story short...when I finally got bow in hand the first adult doe that offered a shot was about 25 yards quartering away. Let the arrow fly...hit a little far back...but had too do to the quartering away angle. The rage head lodged in the oppsite front shoulder...she went about 50 yards and dropped. Blood was tough to follow due to the rain and no pass through...but we were downwind and could smell her when we were with in 20 yards. Sorry, only pic. I have is on my cell, it was getting late and wanted to get her gutted and outta there. Not sure, maybe someone can help me...I don't have internet access on my phone...but unlimited text/pics. Can I send that pic. to my email?

    It's snowing.

Went down to Bedford today...they got some white stuff up on the mountain when going through Winber. Looked awesome...although it is a little early for it.
  4. Another big thank you for your service!!!! Welcome aboard...glad to have ya.
  5. Al...you have a pm. hoosierbuck...best of my knowledge everything on the gun is orginal and no cracks. I picked this gun up at an auction and decided I have no need for it. I never shot it, but seems to be in good working condition. Thanks for looking!
  6. This seemed like the most popular spot!:eat:
  7. On gunbroker.... http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=143615931 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=143615104 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=143614375 Thanks for looking!
  8. I hunted the rain (light drizzel) Thurs. evening...shot at and missed clean a nice buck. Shot the bow again today to make sure it wasn't the bow. Went out this evening in another light rain/snow...had 12 deer feeding in front of me in a field fairly early. Deer don't seem to mind light rain...just check your shots...extra clothes for warmth, and rain gear for staying dry...could affect your shot.
  9. Little tired when I posted that last night...how about campfire and tents Friday night...shoot and eat Sat. LOL
  10. Thanks GW...those were pretty good...btw, I was already at work when you sent those...no sawing logs here...lol Its 1-800-umm-oook!
  11. Nows theres a thought...tents, campfire...Sat. night...shoot Sun. Hmmmmmmm
  12. Yep...still on dial up too!!!!!!!!! When your done speaking French or something...I might understand that..lol Any rate...GW and I been texting back and forth while I type this...he actually sent me a Gobbling ringtone...Whoo hoo Now I have to figure out how to make it my ringtone and I'm set. Thanks a million!
  13. No internet on phone...no cable to hook phone to computer. I found a few sites with "free" ring tones and turkey being some...but not sure what to do and noway I trust the "free" line.
  14. Well, I finally did it...I now own a cell phone! What sold me was my buddy's ringtone...hen turkey cuttin' it up hard, followed by gobbling. I WANT IT...he couldn't send it to me for some reason...so he recorded it to my phone but its not loud enough and don't sound clear. Sure someone here has this or something close on their phone and knows how to send it to another phone? Help this cell phone idoit become a high tech redneck.:clown: Thanks

Just under 60 ac of my own!
  16. Good times again!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't take many pics...but I'll see what I got and get them posted up. On a future note....would more folks be interested in attending if one of these shoots were held on a Sat.? There are many, many members within a few hours driving...we were discussing it and thought maybe more members would be interested if it were held on a Sat. Drive in on Sat. morning...shoot, eat, eat, shoot, shoot, eat etc...(no particular order). Maybe get a hotel room Sat. night and drive home Sun.? Basically we would like to see a bigger "forums" turnout and would like input on what would make that happen! BTW...good pics...except the one of me talking "before" I shot the .416...lol
  17. Too bad we can't hunt on Sunday's...think today would have been a good day! Seen several deer feeding along the highway at 9:15am this morning...then on the way home around 6pm...more deer in a different location feeding along the highway! I personally can't get back out til Thurs. evening....but its early yet, so I'm ok with that.
  18. May also want to check into the 8k tax break for first time home buyers. My understanding on that was that it was UP to 8K. It worked on a % of the value of the home. If I understood it right...it was like 10% of $ spent...so you'd have to be buying a $800,000 home to get the 8K. You'd only get 1K for a $100,000 home etc... Not 100% sure on that...but I'd try finding out if I were in the market for a new home.
  19. Where did you come up with these skids of gauges? I'll show this to some folks at work...they may be interested in the CNC parts, indicators, and torque wrenches (inch pounds).
  20. Seems Carmen has the best spot to hunt on the Strut ranch...lol...not as nice as his buck from last year...but a dandy 8pt. Dang Gary Alt...lol
  21. I've got clean pass throughs with the 2 blade rage heads. 1 was a HARD quartering away shot on a doe...I see no reason to ever switch to another head. Personally, if you hit the deer where your supposed to...it really doesn't matter what head you have on your arrow! A sharp blade behind the shoulder will kill a deer every time.
  22. Just curious...are you from Indiana, PA...or just going to school at IUP? I used to live in Indiana for a bit...now I'm about 15 mins. outta town.
  23. Congrats Jake and Jeff...some beautiful trophies there and memories that will last forever! You know...as I read your story Jeff...I couldn't help but to think of our trip in CO. Steve put his truck in places I wouldn't have (for us), he hiked a mountain several times (for us), froze on top of a mountain in his "house slippers" (for me). Busted butt big time helping get my elk off the mountain...that and so much more is why Steve is a great man!!!!! Anyone reading these posts that never had the privledge of meeting Steve...he really is a great guy...if you get the chance to meet him...do yourself a favor!
