  1. Re: Post your 2004 scores here. Shot a 40 target 3D course today. Ended up with a 396/400. Shot a 30 target course last weekend with a paltry 288/300. hangunnr
  2. Re: Post your 2004 scores here. Shot my first 300 during a league shoot last wednesday night. Ended up with a 300-47X. Last two ends were both 5X-25s. hangunnr
  3. Re: Post your 2004 scores here. Shot my first offical spot league score last night. I shot a 291-26X. Not as high as I would have liked but there's plenty of room for improvement for sure. I shot my two cam PSE F-1 that I converted to a shoot through system with a single pin non-magnified sight. This was the first time out with this bow. I put the sight on it and sighted it in just prior to the shoot. The draw is a little long but that will be changed today. I'm looking forward to next week already. hangunnr
  4. Re: Loads affecting poi? I would think 85gr would be just fine. That's still a decent charge. In a hunting situation I'd bet she wouldn't notice the difference between a 85 and a 120gr load once the adrenaline starts pumping. Maybe start her out with a lesser charge then without her knowing slowly start boosting the load till you're at your present level. Just teach her to roll with the recoil and don't ever let her think it'll hurt her. I wouldn't let her know you've adjusted anything from the normal charge. I kinda did this with my daughter during archery season. I wasn't telling her I was raising the draw weight on her bow. Before she knew it she was pulling 50lbs comfortably. I put 12lbs of draw weight on her bow and she didn't even know it. We did have to continually change her sights but she never caught on as to why. hangunnr
  5. I wouldn't drop much below 75gr. Not only will your point of impact be different but the terminal performance of bullet will also be affected. If you use a pure lead bullet the expansion should still be there. I would stay away from the jacketed pistol bullets. I agree getting out there with the kids during the early season is the way to go. Around here the deer get very skittish as the year goes on. hangunnr
  6. Re: Post your 2004 scores here. Shot a indoor holiday fun shoot last friday night. Won one of the games, placed in a couple others. Went home with a pretty good smoked ham for my efforts. Shot a 297-17 baby X Vegas practice round yesterday. Shot my old 2 cam with the 2613's. Man do they fly slow compared to my 3D rig. I really don't like the yellow center on those targets. The red pin I use isn't very well suited for this. I'm gonna try a black dot for this target face. Anybody have a recommended size to try? I was thinking something in the 1/8th inch size range. It'll be on a 2X lense. It's still a few weeks till our indoor league kicks off. I'm gonna try to shoot a spots league and a 3D league. Should be fun. hangunnr

  8. Re: BP bullet for Black Bear If you are in the mood for a jacketed pistol bullet in a sabot give the Nosler Partition HG a try. This bullet is very durable. It should be able to handle any bear out there. That Keith style bullet with the large meplat offered by Precision should be a good performer also. hangunnr
  9. Trigger locks are a somewhat controversial topic. While no one wants to see a child access a firearm, they do render your defense arm virtually useless in a time of need. I don't use one on my in-house weapon. I have educated my children in the use of firearms and all of their dangers. I don't feel that they have any desire to play with them. They know that my pistol is off limits and they respect that. When my two girls were small I did keep the weapon and clip seperate but easily obtainable. There are several combination lock boxes out there that can be mounted around your bed or wherever. They allow you to store your firearm loaded with no possible access to anyone that dosen't have the combination. I would have to think they would be a faster access option then a trigger lock. Here is a link to check out. www.gunvault.com hangunnr [ 03-21-2002, 08:01 AM: Message edited by: hangunnr ]
