Re: Moose poacher gets sentenced... Two thoughts on this. First, It sounds like this guy in not only a career poacher, but also a career thief/law breaker. Just from all the previous violations he should have gotten some actual prison time. Loosing hunting privileges obviously doesn't/won't mean a thing to him. Maybe the next time he gets caught, and I am sure he will get caught again, he will get to go to the big house. Second, To answer all the questions about what caliber is needed for big game, from this article you can tell once again it is more about shot placement than the caliber of gun being used. This guy took out 3 moose with a .22.

Chad Knaus has been suspended due to violations of Section 19-9-ABCDEFG (failure to part hair on correct side) and Section 26-11-GFEDCBA (failure of driver to mention all sponsors in every interview) Obviously this is a joke, but I am almost afraid this is the direction NASCAR is going, from a slap on the wrist in the past to zero tolerance now.

Sauter's crew chief suspended four races for Texas violation From Press Release April 19, 2005 04:47 PM EDT (20:47 GMT) DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR announced Tuesday that Joe Shear Jr., crew chief of the No. 1 Dodge driven by Johnny Sauter in the NASCAR Busch Series, has been suspended for the next four races beginning at Phoenix and placed on probation until Dec. 31 after rule violations Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway. Johnny Sauter ALSO • Sauter disqualified from Busch race at Texas Shear violated Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 12-4-Q (car, car parts, components and/or equipment used that do not conform to NASCAR rules) of the NASCAR Busch Series rule book due to an unapproved carburetor. The violations were determined following post-race inspection. Additionally, three other NASCAR Busch Series crew chiefs were penalized following rule infractions at Texas. Kevin Manion, crew chief of the No. 8 Chevrolet driven by Martin Truex Jr., was fined $1,000 after violating Sections 12-4-A, 9-4-A (crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his team members) and 20A-17.1A (crew member Jeff Kerr entered the car servicing area without a helmet during the race). Gregg Mixon, crew chief for the No. 7 Chevrolet driven by Mark Green, was fined $1,000 for violation of 12-4-A and 12-4CC (unapproved final gear ratio) during opening-day inspection. Dan Glaus, crew chief for the No. 43 Dodge driven by A.J. Fike, was in violation of 12-4-A and 12-4-Q during pre-qualifying inspection due to an unapproved jacking bolt. He was fined $500

Sauter disqualified from Busch race at Texas Carburetor on No. 1 Dodge found to be too big By Ryan Smithson, NASCAR.COM April 17, 2005 01:45 PM EDT (17:45 GMT) FORT WORTH, Texas -- Johnny Sauter's No. 1 Dodge was disqualified from Saturday's O'Reilly 300 after his car was found to have an illegal carburetor in post-race inspection. NASCAR said that Sauter's team, owned by James Finch, would not be included in the results and would not receive points or prize money. Johnny Sauter Sauter finished 14th, but his team was randomly selected for inspection. During the tear-down, his carburetor found to be too large. "Total disqualification. It was too big," said Jim Hunter, NASCAR's VP of Communications. "We think this penalty fits the circumstances. This one was obviously illegal." NASCAR said they were not tipped off that Sauter's car might be illegal. The move comes three weeks after NASCAR warned teams that continued rules violations would escalate into stiffer penalties. On Sunday, NASCAR made good on their promise. It is unclear when the last time a driver was disqualified in this fashion. NASCAR also said that the team might face even more penalties, which would be announced either Monday or Tuesday. "This post-race inspection in finding the carburetor illegal falls in that category of 'blatant,' said Hunter. "I don't want to speculate on whether we would take away a victory, but if something is obviously designed to improve the performance of the car, we will do whatever we need to do."

Re: Texas Race results. Steppy wins ! RTF, I think your scoring for me is off. Correct me if I am wrong, but, Dale Jr. finished in 9th for 138 points Martin T. Jr. finished 35th. 138-35-9 = 94 I may need that other point.

Re: SMALL TOWN PEOPLE Most of it fits here, too. Grew up in a town of about 950, parents still live there. Maybe one day I will make it back to that life.
-
Re: I Don\'t Understand.... I will offer up the scenario that my parents have on their land and why we dump our "large" trash there. By "large" I am not refering to everday household trash. This land is all sand. During heavy rains, which are somewhat frequent, the runoff from the rains creates huge washes or gulleys. It is not uncommon for these to be 6 - 8 feet deep or more. By dumping the discarded items in there, it collects/traps the sand during the runoff and helps to slow down or stop the erosion. Long ago before it became taboo to dump tires, my parents and grandparents would get discarded tractor tires and put them in the washouts, they worked great. Now, on the other side of the subject, the land owner on the place I hunt, throws his water bottles/coke cans off of his tractor or out of his truck whereever he is at on his land and it just irritates me to know end to see him trashing his land like that. But it is his land. Plus it does not take that much effort from me to pickup a few cans or bottles every once in a while.

The NHRA drag racing series is in Houston this weekend. Yesterday evening, I went to race go carts at a track near the drag strip and quite a few crew members and one top fuel driver showed up and turned left with us. The driver, John Smith, spent quite a bit of time talking with us, real down to earth guy. While he isn't one of the real famous, high budget teams, he is out there competing with them and had some interesting comments. He told us if we come to the race, to be sure and come by his trailer and talk to him. Here is a profile off of the NHRA website of him. Career Highlights 2004: Finished just outside the POWERade Top 10 in 11th place; Qualified a season-high seventh at Denver 2003: Advanced to first final round (Gainesville); recorded career-best performance numbers in time and speed; finished in POWERade Top 10 for second time in his career 2002: Posted first career top 10 points finish; Along with wife Rhonda, became the first husband-wife duo to finish in top 10 in any pro category 2001: He and wife, Rhonda, became the first husband-and-wife duo to qualify in the same professional category at an event (Bristol); As the result of a crash with Gary Scelzi at Brainerd, did not compete for the remainder of the season 1998: Made professional debut at Gainesville where he qualified 13th and lost in the first round to Joe Amato Personal Wife: Rhonda; Daughter: Megan (11/23/98) Height/weight: 5’8”, 185 lbs. Hobbies: Golf Notable: Husband and assistant crew chief for Top Fuel racer Rhonda Hartman-Smith

Hmiel and others penalized........
texastrophies replied to James7xChamp3's topic in NASCAR and Sports
Re: Hmiel and others penalized........ How many times have you heard the announcers during the race say that driver "A" was letting driver "B" no he was #1. That's been going on forever. I haven't actually seen what Shane did, maybe it was more flagrant or just visuable to the TV and that is why the penalty. Just another precedent that has been set. Almost getting out of hand on penalties, but at least it is still ok to finish the race with an illegal car. -
Re: New Moderator..... [ QUOTE ] What kind of 4 wheeler is it?? [/ QUOTE ]

Re: Harvick wins Bristol!!!!! [ QUOTE ] ....your right,it did'nt need to happen, but you need to stop acting like he did it on purpose.....his car washed up the track.when you go to the inside there is a chance you may drift up the track. & he did. [/ QUOTE ] Yea, but you can't tell me these guys don't know what their car is gonna do. If we know it may wash up, surely he does. He knew exactly what was gonna happen if he got in that situation and he went ahead and did it anyways.
