  3. Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried. Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s: Teaching Math In 1950 A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit? Teaching Math In 1960 A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit? Teaching Math In 1970 A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit? Teaching Math In 1980 A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is$80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20. Teaching Math In 1990 A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers.) 9. Re: Recommend a campsite?? We stayed in Cherokee North Carolina, there is a lot to do and see in that area. Trail of Tears play, casino, an amusement park (Ghost Town) I think was the name of it. Had to ride a ski lift to get up to the park. Not to far from Charlotte and all of the race teams. Horseback riding, and rafting also. here is a link to a campground there. You can check out the area attractions through it. web page
  10. Re: Micheal Jackson found not guilty on all counts! Very well said, Markyj987. That pretty much goes along with my thoughts, you just said it much better than I could. Listening to all of the so-called experts, the prosecution did not get the job done.

  13. Re: Guilty or Innocent? My problem with the parents is this. This isn't the first accusations of this going on with Jackson, as we all know. And yet these so-called parents allowed their children to go there, spend the night with him and whatever else!!!!! There is no way I would allow my children to be alone with this "it". And any parent that would, needs to re-organize their priorities.

  17. Re: Why is it You (all of you) need to stop living such a sheltered life, and realize they (the shows) are just being geared to the majority of the viewing public. I started this response as being a smart aleck one, and then pretty much realized what I was saying (about the shows) is true. If people weren't watching them, they wouldn't be on. The almighty dollar still rules the roost.
  18. Re: Guilty or Innocent? [ QUOTE ] ...beacuse the people that brought this on him want one thing and one thing only. His MONEY! They knew Jackson was a freak before they sent their kid there, so as far as I am concerned they {the kids parents} should go to the hole. [/ QUOTE ] My thoughts exactly!!!!!
  19. Re: Clemens back to the Yankees? The Astros just drafted his son, Koby, yesterday, which means Koby now has a choice of going to the University of Texas or an Astros minor league team next year. (He just graduated high school). Bottom line, I don't think the Astros will be trading the Rocket any time soon.
  20. Not wanting to start a big debate. Do you think Michael Jackson will be found guilty or innocent? Not necessarily what you believe he is, but what will the jury find. I would perfer to see short answers, as I am sure no one on here agrees with what he is accused of doing. I think he will be found.....innocent.

  22. Canadian Jogger Killed By Grizzly Bear After Climbing Tree Bear Was Moved Days Ago For Threatening Humans POSTED: 6:29 am CDT June 7, 2005 CANMORE, Alberta -- Canadian authorities said a grizzly bear moved days ago for threatening humans in Alberta has killed a jogger. The attack happened Sunday on a popular hiking trail near the Canadian Rockies resort town of Canmore -- about 55 miles west of Calgary. The victim, Isabelle Dube, had been jogging with two friends when the animal attacked. She climbed a tree and the friends ran to a nearby golf course for help. Police said by the time rescue workers got there, the grizzly had somehow gotten the victim down from the tree and mauled her to death. Fish and wildlife officers later shot and killed the animal.
