  3. Re: Brickyard 400 Wild Card Pics Can't believe I am saying this but #97. Kurt was dialed in at Pocono, and Indy is similar.
  4. Re: Me and my women!!!! Good looking group of girls. You must be rich.
  5. Re: could this week possibly get any worse? (pics) Well out of the two, the news about your sister is much more serious. The truck is just a material thing. We have your sis in our thoughts and prayers. Now on the truck, first it is not your fault. If he is/was driving it, he is responsible for it. But, man what a shame, that was a nice looking truck. Hope he had some kind of insurance on it.

    FFA

Re: FFA I was in all 4 years of H.S., and actually took two periods my senior year. We had a very strong program. Numerous students won grand champion in the steer division at the Houston rodeo/show. That included a very good payoff, scholarship & new truck. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of the big winners at the show, but definately consider myself a winner because of the program & our teachers (3). Learned a lot of stuff in the shop end of it (welding, cutting, etc.) and learned a lot of values from the classroom end of it. Will not force my son to take it when he gets there, but I will highly suggest it.

  10. Re: Pocono 500 [ QUOTE ] Man why is when a car spins out, with a Hendrick car behind then automatically the Hedrick car caused it,,but if it's a Rousch or DEI car they never touched them or had no choice.... [/ QUOTE ] I think it is all for you!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Re: Miscellaneous Ramblings lol, guess by the time I got to the bottom, I had forgotten that.
  12. Re: Whats your \"evening routine\"? I try to leave work by 6:00, Drive the hour to hour and a half home, depending on traffic. Feed the dog and cat, because no one else has done it. Fix something to eat. Plop down in my easy chair, turn on the tv, hope to find either a western, hunting show, or race to eat supper with. Go to bed between 9 and 10, gotta be up at 4:30. Boring life.
  13. Re: Miscellaneous Ramblings [ QUOTE ] If you're still reading. Thanks for reading. [/ QUOTE ] And not a single typo.
  14. Re: Pocono 500 [ QUOTE ] Where are all the Jr. fans this week?? Congrats to Jr on a fine 32nd place run!! I see how everyone is, Jr it totally junk all day and everyone has to pick on the man who won the race because of his post race celebration. If you know it alls would watch the replay you will see what Kurt was trying to do on the frontstretch, pretty ingenious if you ask me. It takes a little more talent than driving into the wall and mashing the accelerator. [/ QUOTE ] Give us a little time, we will be here. First, Jr. wasn't totally junk all day. After the change of springs & speeding on pit road, which put him down 2 laps, he was one of the fastest cars on the track. He passed the 2nd & 3rd place cars with no problem. No, he wasn't as fast as the 97, they were in a completely different zone. Just for the rest of us know it alls, why don't you fill us in on exactly what the 97 was trying to do in his celebration, because I sure couldn't figure it out, & I don't think he knew either. I think the traction control comment may have some merit. No comments about the 24 spinning out another car this week? The commentators sure overlooked it.
  15. Re: Since everyone else is doing it... [ QUOTE ] LMAO! Check out the guy with the orange jacket in the background. His facial expressions tell it all. [/ QUOTE ] Took the words right out of my fingers.
  16. Re: Some Highcountry Scouting Pics As always, great pics. Wish I had some of that scenery here.
  17. Re: Once In A Lifetime Hunt.... Mine would be one of the hunts on horseback, in the snow covered mountains, for anything.
  18. Re: Why do my pics move after I post [ QUOTE ] OK, how 'bout that edit feature? [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, he is only allowed one complaint per day, and that was used up on pictures. The edit feature will be taken care of tomorrow. That is, if tomorrow ever comes.

    Daily Report

Re: Daily Report Great day here, this is the fourth day of my week of vacation, camping in central Texas, next to a lake......uh, oh yea, that's right, had to cancel it last Friday, have to work instead.
  20. Re: Back from Texas, whew!!!! [ QUOTE ] Our new state motto: Welcome to Texas, The Road Construction State! [/ QUOTE ] I can't complain, it pays the bills!!!!!
  21. Re: spotlighting [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I personally would not do it even if it were legal. We lay off our deer entirely till deer season and give them the most stress free, least pressure as possible-atmosphere that we can. [/ QUOTE ] So you do NO scouting before the season? I know for a fact that the deer here get less pressure from a spot light than when I'm in the woods scouting. These issues are just the same as different styles of hunting. Most folks never done it...but form an opinion of it. [/ QUOTE ] LOL, I picked up on that, also. First thing I thought of was high fences & then feeders. SOS.
  22. Re: Looking for TX deer lease Check your p.m.'s

    1905

This is an email I received today. Thought it was pretty good. Do not know the accuracy of the info, and am not going to look it up. The year is 1905. One hundred years ago. What a difference a century makes! Here are some of the U.S. statistics for 1905: The average life expectancy in the U.S. was 47 years. Only 14 percent of the homes in the U.S. had a bathtub. Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone. A three-minute call from Denver to New York City cost eleven dollars. There were only 8,000 cars in the U.S., and only 144 miles of paved roads. The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph. Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more heavily populated than California. With a mere 1.4 million residents, Calif! ornia was only the 21st most populous state in the Union. The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower! The average wage in the U.S. was 22 cents an hour. The average U.S. worker made between $200 and $400 per year. A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, a dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year. A mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year. More than 95 percent of all births in the U.S. took place at home. Ninety percent of all U.S. physicians had no college education. Instead, they attended medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press and by the government as "substandard." Sugar cost four cents a pound. Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen. Coffee was fifteen cents a pound. Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used borax or egg yolks for shampoo. Canada passed a law prohibiting poor people from entering the country for any reason. The five leading causes of death in the U.S. were: 1. Pneumonia and influenza 2. Tuberculosis 3. Diarrhea 4. Heart disease 5. Stroke The American flag had 45 stars. Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska hadn't been admitted to the Union yet. The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was 30!!! Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented. There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day. Two of 10 U.S. adults couldn't read or write. Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated high school. Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at corner drugstores. According to one pharmacist, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health." (Shocking!) Eighteen percent of households in the U.S. had at least one full-time servant or domestic. There were only about 230 reported murders in the entire U.S. And I forwarded this from someone else without typing it myself, and sent it to you in a matter of seconds! Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years .. it staggers the mind.
