  1. Congrats Dawg & Charlie. Be sure and get some pics for the rest of us.
  2. Yea, there is that on the money. I'm at 8 points now. Guess I should modify my boycott statement, just in case both Nevada & Arizona are mean to me, then OTC elk in Colorado will be my fall back or else I won't have a hunt this year. I have no interest in turkey, or I would have jumped on that hunt also.
  3. Back door deer results for deer are up. Go to this link Draw Results & Preference Points | Colorado Parks and Wildlife put you information in, go to the bottom and check your points. By deer you will see "2013", if the next number is 0 you are going hunting, if it is a number, you got another PP It's official, I am boycotting Colorado this year.
  4. Thank you. I made some room in my inbox, for the first time in over 10 years. Almost couldn't figure out how.
  5. My thoughts are what you just mentioned, do the visits, both official and unofficial if you can. Let her get a feel for the school and area and you too. Free money is hard to beat, Jake ended up with over $31,000 in scholarships and it really helps. The only downfall to the scholarships is you don't get the college deduction from the IRS. I can live with that.

    My new ride

Actually it doesn't use hardly any gas.:nono: Come on, he's in Texas, what else would he have:cowboy: Nice truck Chance.
  7. Yes it is a hard state to draw in and got harder for the NR last year. In either 7 or 8 years I have drawn two tags, a third choice deer hunt that was basically a meat hunt and and rifle antelope that was good. I really considered giving up on NM last year when the NR percentage changed, but ended up sticking with it because I would really like to go after a Oryx. If you were to apply for all the critters, you are talking about tying up some serious cash for a short term, especially if you are applying for two. Right now I think I might give it up in NM, but more than likely come application time next year I will be submitting. The application game is almost as much fun as the hunts.
  8. Congrats AJ. Good luck with both. Please come back and shows us pictures.
  9. Congratulations to you and her.
  10. Without going to that thread William, it seems funny that I am having this problem on three different computers, using three different internet providers/services. Using my work computer, my personal computer on an air card and my sons computer at home all three have same issues now and in the past. I will take a look at that thread.
  11. I don't remeber exactly, but I believe you can check your PP to find out if you have drawn or not. I will post the exact method when it becomes available (and when I can steal it from another thread on another site )
  12. Yes I think issues like this could also be place under the what happened to the forums thread. I have been having problems for a long time now, not just this one, but others too that have severly reduced the time I spend here.
  13. June 14th is the official date. Last year, June 15th was official date, but you could find out through the backdoor method on May 11th.
  14. Nevada applications are due on April 15th. You can apply online here. HuntNevada.com Got mine in today. Good luck.
  15. Thanks for the story, sounds like an adventure with a lot of ups and downs. Your roller coaster ride is a pretty good description. Better luck next year.
  16. The thing about boycotting Colorado and not hunting there is that the people you will be hurting, the small town businesses, are not the ones supporting the new laws, generally speaking. It will be interesting to see the next election results. I am going to boycott Colorado this year, unless I get that deer tag I applied for, then I will go hunting.
  17. For those still wanting to apply in Colorado, the deadline is coming up. You have until April 02.
  18. Well it looks like AZ boycotted me, for elk anyways. Will probably give them another chance with deer. Got about a week left to think about Colorade, I hear what you are saying Steve and agree.
  19. I did oryx, antelope & deer. Skipped applying for elk since my old boss of over 20 years has said he wants to go hunting with me for a cow elk, so we figured on buying a couple of LO tag for cows. Should be a fun hunt. I went with 2b, 2c & 5b for deer, same as you on the long odds. Don't remember the lope units. Not holding my breath on any of these.
  20. Credit Cards are getting hit. My has been safe so far. Wouldn't mind a ding to it though.
  21. He is referring to elk. Glad you made it back safe & sound
  22. I don't currently have any information on Nebraska, but I think I have some at the house. I will take a look tonight and let you know.
  23. CB has given you some good info on Colorado. Wyoming you still have time to either apply for a hunt or you can get a point from July - Sept. You might also look at New Mexico as they do not have points, it is luck of the draw, but they severely cut back the tags to do it yourself hunters that are non-residents last year and continueing this year. Draw odds are tough but some one will have to draw. I believe Idaho also has a draw without points. Utah & Arizona both have good deer, but the draw odds are tough with no or few points and buying points in both states is expensive as you have to buy a non-refundable license in order to apply or buy points. Nevada is similar in buying the non-refundable license upfront, but they have a much better point system that increases your odds of drawing and you also have a chance with no points. If you have any more specific questions about a particular state, just ask I can probably help you. Except in Montana, still don't understand their system.
