  5. The gun and I finally stopped moving and were in the same place at the same time with the camera. Here's the new (to me) Super X3. I brought it home from my FFL dealer, checked it over for safety, screwed a XXX-full Comp-N-Choke tube in the end and went fall turkey hunting. Unfortunately, the birds basically disappeared about a week before I received the gun. So I still have no idea how it shoots. Ain't pulled the trigger on it once yet. Guess I have most all of the winter for that. Here it is. Also........... the night I picked it up, my dealer had just taken in a cherry Benelli Super Nova pump. It was used. But you REALLY had to look to tell. I told Lil (who ain't so "lil" anymore) about it and 2 days later we were back there. He bought his first 12 gauge. He got a killer deal on a spotless Benelli.
  6. Here's the red from Wednesday........... And a gray from this morning...........
  7. Picked up a red in the same set as the gray this morning. Only have a phone pic of it. Will try to post it sometime.
  8. Just one stinker this morning. Wasn't compelled to take his pic.

    trapping

Put 7 sets out yesterday. Had a lone gray this morning. I only have a week and will be pulling it all up this Sunday. But it's a decent start. http://www.realtree.com/forums/varmint-predator-hunting/110591-long-last-iron-ground.html#post1318754
  10. I have not made a dirt set since 2006. Work precludes me from doing any serious trapping at all. But this year, both my dad and I have our furtaker license. So Dad will be doing some of the check duty for me. Going to run them for a week. Ended up with 7 sets (2 doubles) on 2 of the Strut10 Ranch properties. 6 dirtholes, 2 scent post and 1 flat set. The 2 doubles were specifically for 'yotes and made with MB-550's. The others were more for fox........a couple specifically for grays and all them were with #2 OS Bridgers. The fox sets were single staked with 1/2"x30" rebar. Hope that's enough to hold should a 'yote stumble into one of them. The only thing I forgot was to take the camera. Would have liked to have had some input from others. Maybe I can get some Thursday when I start doing check duty. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas morning !!!! Only problem is Dad's gonna be opening my presents..... I told him to take a camera.
  11. I'm trying to get a handle on it.................
  12. Millions of years of random mutation & natural selection of what ??????
  13. P.S. That may be part of the reason used SX2's are selling for more today than mine cost me brand spankin' new 10 years ago.
  14. Just an added point, anecdotal or whatever........ When I bought my Super X2, I had heard some pretty off the wall claims about reliability. I decided to see if they were true or not. I shoot a ton of shotshells during the year....... everything from Wal-Mart 7/8 oz. low brass to 3 1/2" turkey and steel (no O-rings or springs to change). I vowed not to clean the gun until it failed to feed, eject or function. 8 years later................ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .............. I got to feeling so guilty of neglect that I broke down and cleaned the gun. Up until then and until this very day the gun has not burped once, not EVER. Can't get too much more reliable than that. The off the wall claims were absolutely spot-on.
  15. Before you go dropping a mint on a Benelli, new or used......... look at a Super X2 (or Browning Gold). Would not trade my X2 for a truckload of Benellis. Haven't had the Super X3 long enough to gie it the same endorsement. But it seems to be the Super X2 in spades. Browning Maxus is the X3 with a few more bells & whistles.
  16. New Jersey, at least, has turned away all non-union crews that have volunteered to come in from other states. New York City won't let the National Guard in because they carry guns. So, in part, it's the liberal mentality that is now running our healthcare system that has the power outage.......which a Pennsylvania REA co-op woulda had fixed last week........in such an aborted mess.

    Sasquatch !!!!!

Came across this picture in an on-line classified ad site. Is it just me ??? Or is there a squatch in the water behind the boat ?? Poor, unsuspecting folks have no idea how close they came !!!
  18. They aren't very big. It would take me 'til barberry season next year to pick enough of the little boogers to make a gallon of............. I'm not sure what.
  19. Have a goodern Eric !!!!! Bet you're celebrating in the woods today !!!
  20. Thanks Gregg !! Go get him !! I was out looking for turkeys yesterday morning and saw a buck within 150 yards of the stand where I killed this one. He was solidly in the 130's as an 8-pointer. Getting ready to get Lil up a tree on that ridgetop right now.
  21. Picked the gun up last nite. Took it out turkey hunting this morning. Walked about 3 miles and saw ZERO turkey sign. Going out again in the morning. Will get a pic up when the gun stops moving.
