  1. We have a few here and there. Saw one yesterday a few miles from home.
  2. It's becoming apparent that it ain't gonna take THAT long.
  3. 4000+ yards in tilled ground spinning 36 lbs. of clover seed on to 3 acres with a hand-crank spinner. :crutch: Did it in about 1hr 15 minutes. I feel like I just got dragged hind-end first through a knothole !!! Been working off & on over the last month along with my brother and dad. We got an 8 acre field turned and disked. Then, this past Saturday, Dad & bro' spread a tri-axle load of lime (+/- 22 tons). My brother got that disked in that evening. Me & Dad went to the mill this afternoon and got 1200 lbs of pelletized lime to give the sprouting seed a bump start until the loose lime kicks in. Came home to see that the weatherman is calling for thunderstorms throughout the night. So........ in the absence of a culti-packer......... figured I better bust butt and get some seed down so Ma Nature could give me some seed-soil contact. Hopefully, I'll get the pelletized spun on in the next day or two. One of the remaining acres is slated for a sunflower/millet plot for gamebirds & songbirds. The other 4 acres will go into a brassica/turnip mix in a couple months. This stuff better grow !
  4. Congrats on a good bird !!!
  5. I'd go through the last 3-4 days of trailcam pics and set up where the most gobbler pics have come from. I'd probably use no decoy at all or use 1 hen deke and call softly and sparingly on a slate or diaphragm every 15 or 20 minutes. If you're not set up near a known roost throughout the day, I'd make my way to within 75-100 yards of where you suspect the toms will fly up about an hour before they would get there. Good luck to you !!! Let us know how it turns out.
  6. Not until May 9th. Nope. Wouldn't matter anyways. Keeps getting light earlier & earlier. I could walk out the back door and have one grounded and be back in bed almost before my alarm for work went off. It's happened before.
  7. Like an Amishman told me.................generally if ya kill 'em once they won't get in your corn no more. :clown: I could loan you what I use to keep the critters outta my stuff...........
  8. How did YOU get a smart phone ??????? Did you buy it under an assumed name ????? LOL !!!!!!!!! :clown: :clown: :clown:
  9. I fixed your pic. Here ya go. CONGRATS on a dandy bird !!!
  10. Emperor Snapper ??? I mean.........I know you're good. But................... Well, hey...................you did make two jakes giggle at the same time !!
  11. Posted my pic in a hurry yesterday. The other part of the story was that as I pulled the trigger on my bird, me & Lil were watching 2 more longbeards strut for 5 hens about 400 yards across the field. They double-gobbled at the gunshot and kept at their thing. Then I noticed a red fox pouncing for mice about 75 yards off to the side of the turkeys. Couldn't tell from where we were......but it kinda looked like the terrain blocked each from the other's view. Well....eventually Wiley Red figured out there was potentially a much bigger meal right in front of him. He crept toward the birds, which busted him. The hens started cutting at him. But he eased to within yards of them then made a lightning dash at the strutting gobbler. He folded up shop and ran until the fox all but had him then he flew a 20 or 30 yard circle and landed. Fox made another bee-line at him with the same outcome. After about the 4th try, the gobbler finally had enough and flew into a treetop right behind my house !! The fox made a couple more futile attempts at the other birds until they had all run or flown away. But, eventually, after the fox had gone, they all hit the field again and began slooooooowly strutting our way. FINALLY about 8:00, the last hen had left the pair and they got fired back up and real mouthy. I had been hearing another hunter semi-circling our location and calling intermittently. He had made it around to basically straight up the hill behind us. Just about then, a pair of Canada geese which had flown into the field about 1/2 way to the gobblers started fast-clucking. I knew what the yo-yo behind us had done. He was working his way down the back side of a tree row in the field and had skylined himself. I'm sure of it. Because about then the geese took wing and vamoosed along with the 2 strutters who tucked their tails and did the fast-walk the other way. 2 hours of sitting, calling and waiting in the 20 degree frost for some dingbat to think he could somehow get a shot at these birds by sneaking (and poorly at that) in a fencerow 400 yards from them. No worry. Their strut zone is in the middle of an open field in the Safety Zone of my house. Maybe the same yo-yo will be watching from the fencerow again tomorrow when I relieve one of his noggin.
  12. Nice hooks !! Always pays to err on the side of preparedness. Gun up even if you DO think it's over. Good work.
  13. Good birds !! Great story !! CONGRATS to the both of you.
  14. Second year in a row I had to shoot a bird intended for Lil Strut. Set up one tree apart in a Christmas tree field (me uphill of the boy) facing downhill to a nice, wide open grass road where I figured the bird would come from. Wrong. The bird came strutting, spitting and drumming around the hillside.........right through harvestable size Christmas trees...... about 15-20 yards above me. I could get turned on him. Lil could not. 6:15 AM PA bird #1 falls to 2 oz. of #6's from the Super X2 at close range. 19 lbs. 8 1/2" whisker 7/8" & 1" spurs
  15. Yep. Give us a little info on the setup you are shooting.
  16. Bank of America told Mc Millian Stocks they do not want their business. McMillan Fiberglass Stocks, McMillan Firearms Manufacturing, McMillan Group International have been collectively banking with Bank of America for 12 years. Today Mr. Ray Fox, Senior Vice President, Market Manager, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking came to my office. He scheduled the meeting as an “account analysis” meeting in order to evaluate the two lines of credit we have with them. He spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories. At this point I interrupted him and asked “Can I possible save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer want my business.” “That is correct” he says. I replied “That is okay, we will move our accounts as soon as possible. We can find a 2nd Amendment friendly bank that will be glad to have our business. You won’t mind if I tell the NRA, SCI and everyone one I know that BofA is not firearms industry friendly?” “You have to do what you must”he said. “So you are telling me this is a politically motivated decision, is that right?” Mr Fox confirmed that it was. At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing let for him to say. I think it is important for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms should know when a business does not support these rights. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a business’ political position I can not in good conscience support them. We will soon no longer be accepting Bank of America credit cards as payment for our products. Kelly D McMillan Director of Operations McMillan Group International, LLC 623-582-9635 www.mcmillanusa.com I believe Bass Pro credit cards are Bank of America.

    Really!!!!

Cold & wet can't be much good for the turkeys. Me & Lil bumped a hen off her nest with 14 eggs in it on Saturday morning.
  18. Looks like the Pens will be golfing in Myrtle Beach this week.

  21. I can't even find how to get in anymore. Where'd it go ???????
  22. Yeah. We just came around a corner in the Suburban and there they were. We were on our way home from an Easter dinner and the Mrs. had the camera bag. These shots were taken on auto settings mode from a distance of about 60-70 yards.
  23. Oh my, yes !!! Still learning how to use it !!!!

    Santorum Out

Yep. I'm getting tired of holding my nose to vote. Would like to cast a vote "for" a presidential candidate again instead of casting my vote "against" a presidential candidate. Now that Santorum's out, we're stuck with Bob Dole III ............... Mitt McCain. Just team him up with Chris Christie or some other RINO and we'll be assured of another 4 years of Bobo..........which may just be enough to insure another conservative won't be elected president for the next 50 years.
