  1. This is a nice 10 pointer that I got on video during a hunt. It never came close enough for my brother to get a shot though. Good 10 Point (900K)
  2. Re: Tag sharing? [ QUOTE ] I wouldn't buy a tag for another person that doesn't hunt just so i could have an extra. [/ QUOTE ] I don't buy tags for those who don't hunt just to get an extra. In Iowa they are begging for hunters to shoot as many does as possible and there are many extra doe tags available for almost every county. I respect the opinions of those who don't like party hunting, and I don't condone it where it is not legal. I also fail to understand those who are against certain practices (whatever they are) because they know of someone who abuses said practice. If we took that to its logical conclusion one could be against every form of hunting because there are always going to be those who abuse the system or cheat someway. JMHO
  3. Re: Tag sharing? Party hunting is legal in Iowa (shotgun seasons only) and I don't have a problem with it when it is legally done. You can't possess another hunters tag so that person must be there to tag the deer (within fifteen minutes or before it is moved). I have no problem shooting a deer for someone else it they so desire it; I've put meat in the freezer for many people in my group. I have no idea about the deer herds in other states, but party hunting has been legal here for as long as I can remember and our deer herd is growing almost every year. To each is own, but I like it because it allows me to hunt with family and friends for more of the season instead of staying home when I fill my tag.
  4. Re: Digital Camera Movie Recording If it is playing on your TV you should be able to record the channel it is playing on with your VCR. I plug my digital video camera right into the VCR and when it is plying on the screen hit record on the VCR and it is done.
  5. Re: CamCorder I have a Sony dcr-TRV525 and it has worked well for me for the last couple years. There are cameras out there that will give better picture but they are also more expensive. What do you want to use it for? If you want it for home vids and the like it should do OK. I see the prices on digital8 have dropped a bunch, when I bought mine it ran $1000. If I ever get a new one it will be a minidv 3 ccd cam but as I said I can't complain about the 525, it has served me well. I would also get the 12 hour battery, the extra time is worth the money.
  6. Re: NEED SOME INFO-PLEEEEASE! There is a gentleman that goes by the name of v-man on iowawhitetail.com and he makes and sells cams. I have not bought one from him nor do I know him personally, but I have heard many good things about his cams. His email is [email protected] if you are interested.
  7. Re: NEED SOME INFO-PLEEEEASE! How much do you have to spend? If at all possible I would recommend digital. I've heard good things about the leaf river but don't have one, there are also some guys out there that build some pretty good ones as well. They will save you money in film and processing if you are going to use it a lot.
  8. Re: SOUTH DAKOTA PHESANTS From the realtree photohost site just copy and paste the UBBcode into the reply box. The code can be found right below the "keywords" line where are the picture stats are.
  9. Re: iowa bird hunters??? If your spots don't have standing corn around them you should do OK. It was tough this past weekend, but I limited out on Sat. and got one Sunday, although I didn't hit it too hard Sunday. I was hunting western Iowa in areas that are usually rated pretty low in the roadside surveys, FYI.
  10. Re: Reatree Admin - I\'ve Tried it all swamp, Check your PM.
  11. Re: IOWA OPENING WEEKEND [ QUOTE ] whats the deal with the road side surveys the winter wasnt that bad last year. I did see that they revised them though. [/ QUOTE ] Cool temps and heavy rain did a lot of chicks in.
  12. Re: Fatal error Fatal error Fatal error Fatal error!!! I am curious if your accounts quit working after you tried to upload a GIF image? As far as I have been able to tell, once you try to upload a GIF it will not allow you to upload any other images, you always get the GIF error message. I don't know if this happens to everyone but that is what happened to me. My account worked fine until I tried a GIF or two and then I was unable to upload any other pics. I have tried deleting cookies (see links below) and it didn't work for me, but you might try it. I am waiting to hear back from the Webmaster about any progress they are making, but have not heard anything definitive yet. delete forum cookies delete photopost cookies
  13. Re: The new BPS I've owned a 12 ga BPS for about 15 years as have my uncle and brother and have been fairly pleased with them. They are not as smooth as an 870 but if kept properly maintained are very nice guns. I have found that they will jam if they get really dirty, but a good cleaning takes care of it. I also learned to not take out the top pin in the receiver as it is really hard to get back in. The bottom one will take out the trigger assembly, the top I leave alone.
  14. Re: Running Buck The sad part is I didn't get drawn for the buck hunt, but 4 of my family members did so I am hoping they see him again
  15. Re: a few ?\'s about RT Photo Hosting You can move or delete pics by going to "my profile" to "manage photos," then pick the category of pictures that you want to look in. When you click a category it will bring up all of your pics in that category and you will be able to move them and/or delete them.
  16. Re: Picture Posting Wishinone, You are right, the drop down box is for mods. You can do it by going to "my profile" to "manage photos," then pick the category of pictures that you want to look in. When you click a category it will bring up all of your pics in that category and you will be able to move them and/or delete them.
  17. Re: Reatree Admin - I\'ve Tried it all LifeNRA, Did you try uploading a GIF or what did you do that shut your account down?
  18. Re: Reatree Admin - I\'ve Tried it all LifeNRA, The issue doesn't appear to have anything to do with the size of the pic or it's format. I don't know about everyone, but some of us (myself included) are not able to upload any pics (including properly sized and formated JPEG's) after trying to upload a GIF image. The site gives the GIF upload error for every pic that is uploaded. I don't know if it is something stupid that I am missing or what the deal is, but I am talking with the Admin about the problem and hope to resolve it soon.
  19. Re: Picture Posting When you click on one of your pics and the page comes up with the stats (size, date, view, etc...) there is a drop down box below the stats that will let you move the picture to a different category. Change it to the category that you want to move it to and hit "submit post."
  20. I went on an anterless hunt this past weekend and my brother got some video of a pretty good buck running out of the timber. They always seem to show up when you can't shoot them! Running Buck (689k)
  21. Re: Reatree Admin - I\'ve Tried it all swamphunter1968, Was the first picture you tried to upload a GIF? After I tried to upload a GIF it will not let me upload any pics at all and always gives me the error message you posted above. I then thought it might be something left on my computer that is causing a conflict after trying the GIF so I deleted some cookies and a few other things with no luck. I then created a new user account and proceeded to upload three JPEG images (several the same images my smallmunster account wouldn't upload). It appears to be an error in the web page. I have told the admin about it and hopefully my tests will help them to get things fixed. I'll let you know what I find out.
  22. Re: Strange reply, bad law? I've asked a few questions to some of the law enforcement guys in Des Moines and got the same thing. I was told that these laws are written so that the officer in the field can use their own discretion in each individual situation. It works out good when you have a good game warden, not so good when you don't.
  23. Re: Reatree Admin - I\'ve Tried it all If you want why don't you email me the pic that will not work and I will try and upload it to my account and see if it works. You can send them to [email protected]. Please include your member name so I know where it came from.
  24. Re: Reatree Admin - I\'ve Tried it all [ QUOTE ] Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imagecreatefromgif() [/ QUOTE ] I just tried to upload a GIF image and got the same error. You must resave the picture as a JPG image and it should work. If you don't know how to resave it open the image in a picture editing program (paint, photoshop, etc...), click save as and in a drop down box you should be able to select JPG or JPEG. Let us know how it goes.
  25. Re: Reatree Admin - I\'ve Tried it all I have not had any trouble logging in or uploading any pics although I've only tried two. I know it is obvious but make sure the pic isn't too big and make sure it is a supported file format (JPG or GIF). It might help to copy and paste the error message and put it here so we can pass it on to the webmaster. If you are having trouble logging in you might try making sure you are not logged in on a different computer that is online somewhere. Hang in there and I'm sure the site admin will get these things worked out.
