Re: Silencer Recommendations? The new LimbSaver Alphashox are pretty nice. LimbSaver string leeches will help too. Pretty much anything by LimbSaver.

Now that I just got a brand new '05 Hoyt Ultramag, I am planning on selling my old bow which is a Martin Altitude. I bought it in 2002 and it is still in great shape. It will need arrows, a peep sight, kisser button, sights and an arrow rest. So my question to you is, how much would you sell a bow like this for? It will include a 4 arrow quiver as well. Thought this would be the best place to ask, so how much would any one of you pay?
-
Well I did it again, I bought another new bow after purcashing a Martin a couple years ago I thought it was time for another change, a serious one. So with those thoughts, I went to the bow shop last night with my brother and we were shooting around for awhile until I decided to go out in the shop part and look at the bows. Was looking at a variety including Hoyt, Mathews, Martin, Reflex and some others. Well to make a long story short, I couldn't help but like the way the Hoyt Ultramag(same one my brother has) felt in my hands. So I decided to spend the money and get me one. So now I am a new proud owner of a HOYT bow and let me tell you, when I got the bow all set up and was shooting it, WOW is it fast, quiet and smooth. I was amazed and am now in love. Just wanted to share and hope I'm accepted to the Hoyt family now.

Re: broad heads Grim Reapers. I switched to them last year and it was pretty incredible how straight they fly(for me) and what kind of damage they do. They really are worth the money and I don't see me switching anytime soon.

Re: Michael Crook: Forsake the Troops Just watched this video, and little pukes like this are what irritates me more than anything. He needs to stop toying around with his website 24/7 and go out and get a life. I may not agree with this war, but I am certainly behind the troops 110%.

Re: another deerless gun season... don't feel bad, i'm deerless too, going out last day tomorrow to see what i can see, haven't really seen anything worth shooting yet, i'll prolly regret passing them up though, but there is always next year!!!

well tonight i made a HUGE mistake...seeing as its shotgun season, the weather was about 55 degrees, no wind, and i decided not to go hunting this evening, boy was that a mistake. dad calls me up later in the evening and gives me the old "guess what i saw" treatment. so i of course said what did ya see and he informed me that he saw 5 deer, all 5 were bucks. my mouth dropped and i didnt think it could drop any further until he said the 11 pointer and 9 pointer both came from the direction of my stand. why in the heck does it always seem to happen that way? you decide not to go and you probably could have bagged a big one, but if you do go you either don't see him in range or don't see a dang thing. oh well, its supposed to be really warm the next 2 days, so hopefully that will supress the rut and then it will kick in hardcore this weekend when the temps will fall into the 40's for highs, can't wait . on another note, he said he only heard 2 shots tonight, so not everyone is seeing them .

Re: VAPOR CARBON ARROWS i shoot em, love em, smoked my doe this year, clean pass through with my grim reaper broadhead

ok i've been hunting the same woods for a couple years now and i see a lot of deer, except for this year. don't get me wrong i've seen my fair share, BUT i haven't seen anything over a 6 pointer and the majority of the deer are does, BUT i know there are still big deer out there. well about a week ago i found 2 scrapes, so i decided to setup about 30 yards away from one hoping the buck will be back. for some unknown reason he is nowhere to be found, hasn't came back yet. this morning a little 3 pointer came running past the stand for no good reason, went down the valley and kept on running. i am pretty much baffled considering that is the only deer i saw this entire weekend even though we had pretty cool temps. any clues?
-
Re: man i hate missisng exceptionaly on big bucks wow matt your story is really close to mine..last year was my 3rd year hunting and i missed a monster 9 pointer, i shot completely left of him, i was pretty much devistated, but now i'm back at it again and have taken my first deer ever this year, it was a doe, BUT it is a definite confidence booster. hang in there man, it WILL happen, its only a matter of time, don't give up and don't get discouraged. good luck.

Re: opinions on expandables this year i switched from 4 blade muzzy's to the new grim reaper expandables, and i will never go back again. these shoot exactly like my field points and i brought my doe down within 60 yards, penetrated and flew like a dream

Re: mn rut prime time went for a drive tonight in the country, saw about 5 bucks including 2 that were getting really angry at each other because a doe was in between them, the doe ran and i thought i was going to witness a brawl, but the smaller one retreated and nothing happened. the biggest buck i saw was a monster 9 pointer chasing about 3 does, it was awesome to see good bucks out chasing, has me pumped up for the mid 30 degree temps in the morning

Re: How to attract a big whitetail in southern Ind i'm here in west central indiana and my brother has had good success with rattling believe it or not, but like others have said a drag rag with the appropriate scent and calls are your best option, luck is the #1 thing in this situation, so good luck
-
Re: Any rut activity yet??? glad you asked this...i'm here in indiana, my brother just killed a 9 pointer this morning that he rattled in to about 40 yards when he gave him a grunt snort wheeze combo and that really ticked him off, so its starting to get good. also i've found some good scrapes, no rubs yet though, but i'm sure they are there.

Re: Which Expandable i'm also gonna vote for the grim reapers. just trying them out this year and they fly great and leave a huge hole. my doe went all of 60 yards, they truly are awesome.

well i got my first deer EVER. i've been hunting about 3 years now and have been pretty patient for one to come within range and one did just that tonight. shot a fairly decent doe at about 10 yards with my grim reaper, and she expired 60 yards later. double lunged her so she didn't go far. well here's the story cause i know you all want to hear it. my brother has been itching at me to go to a stand where he hunts and i finally agreed tonight. got there at about 3:30pm and was up in the stand around 4 and ready to go. sat there for 45 mins when i heard some rustling to look back and see 5 does jumping about in the bean field behind the stand. i was wondering what they were so alert about until i saw the coyote. so they scurried off and i waited some more until they came back about 15 mins later. all 5 of them were 20 yards or less, BUT i was afraid to draw back with so many eyes watching and afraid of spooking them and ruining my hunt. so after a few minutes they left again and i sat back down. i wasn't sitting long as 2 does on the ridge headed my way in front of me, they were coming directly at me. i hurried and grabbed my bow from the holder and stood up with the release on the string loop. no more than looking down to attach my release the first doe(the bigger of the two) was already under my stand and the second doe miraculously stopped 10 yards from my stand broadside when i let the grim reaper eat. i felt pretty confident about my shot when i let it go and heard what i can describe as a "burp" come from the deer(anyone care to explain that one?). i saw her run off and take a nose dive about 60 yards away. got down out of my stand 20 mins later and went to fetch my arrow which was sticking out of the ground. didn't see much in the way of blood on the fletchings(probably because of the rain) but there was some hair and blood on the shaft. slowly and very quietly snuck my way out of the woods, went home and waited. came back some time later and recovered my first. it wasn't the biggest in the world, but now i have 1 under my belt, let me tell you, what a confidence booster this is for me. i've been hunting hard for 3 years and it finally payed off, now i'm after a nice buck. well i'll stop rambling on, just wanna wish good luck to everyone.

Re: Bigfoot. [ QUOTE ] Why is it that everytime I get ready to head to the stand I start thinking about Bigfoot, Blair Witch, escaped convicts, or every other spooky creature I can think of. I walk to my stand with no flash light so every little critter I hear gets me a little jumpy. Do you guys get this way? [/ QUOTE ] LOL i thought i was the only person to think this way, yep i get this way almost everytime i go to the woods, but once i start walking with my flashlight i become ok.
