  1. Re: What are your jobs? I build snowplows and salt spreaders.
  2. Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diame Well I just ordered the Brickhouse TSC off Basspro for a steep $168. I hope it's worth it. I will let you know.
  3. I recently got a new blind, which I'm not too fond of after putting it out just one time, and the camo really doesn't have anything to do with it, just don't like it. I hunt and live in Indiana, but thought I'd ask this question anyways. I think I'm going to make the plunge and get the Ameristep Brickhouse TSC like everyone else is getting, so I need to know what the best camo for it would be? I was thinking Hardwoods Green, but once the leaves fall here, there isn't much green to speak of. What do you guys think?
  4. Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? Well after calling numerous places in search of the Ameristep Brickhouse TSC, I decided to taka a trip to the local Rural King. Not sure if anyone has heard of it, but I went looking for blinds and some other stuff. After calling around for the Ameristep, I had my mind set on the Hunters View Hunters Den model, which is pretty close to the same as the Ameristep. Upon walking in I saw another blind set up that looked a little better than the Hunters View. It is made by Ground Max I believe. It is The Escape model. Dimensions for this blind are 60" x 60" x 62" tall. It is pretty much exactly like the Brickhouse, except you don't get the leafy stuff, the windows are a different shape, but all in all it was worth the $80 I paid for it. They had a bigger model too, which was $120, but after setting up this one, I found that I could pull my bow back easily inside this one. Plenty of room for 1-2 hunters. So I just thought I would pass this along.
  5. Re: 1 year ago......REMINDER!!!! everyone please r Great post Nick, got me a little teary eyed reading that as well. Perfect reminder too, to always wear your safety harness not only for you, but for your family and others. I could feel your pain from the way you wrote that. Stay strong Nick.

    My Daughter

Re: My Daughter The smile gets me smiling. Happy b-day to your very cute little girl.
  7. Re: Pre Rut Yet? I think pre-rut has started here in Indiana a little bit. Have seen a few little bucks "interested". Hang on, buckle your seat belts, the action is about to get good.
  8. Re: Local hunter fall out of tree. That is terrible news. My prayers are with him and his family. This reminds me of my hunt on Sunday. I was extremely tired and could barely keep my eyes open while sitting in the stand. So what did I do? I climbed down and went home to sleep. I figured it was better to just climb down then to sit there and have that chance of falling out and hurting or killing myself.

    Anyone?

I posted this in the Hunting Equipment section, but got no bites, so I decided maybe post it here since this is a little more active. I'm looking to get some feedback on the Arctic Shield line of clothing/accessories. I bought the H3 parka, but haven't had the chance to use it because it hasn't been cold enough yet. From how it feels it seems like it will be pretty warm, but thought I would try to get some feedback from someone that has some Arctic Shield clothing. I am looking for feedback on the H3 Bibs, some of their gloves, and the H2 Jacket. Thanks.
  10. Re: Do you wear a harness? A couple years back I forgot my harness at home, but decided to hunt out of a lock on anyways. The one time I forgot to bring my harness, the stand broke and I went with it. Needless to say after that scare, I NEVER hunt from a treestand without a harness. It only takes one time to ruin the rest of your life, remember that.
  11. Re: TEAM 15 Thats a dandy Nick, congrats again.

    Double Drop

Re: Double Drop Yep, thats a monster. Congrats again.
  14. Re: Excess Harness Strap? I guess the best thing to do would be putting on layer after layer of your hunting clothes you would actually wear when it got real cold and then cut off the excess from that.
  15. Re: What realtree patterns do you wear?? Hardwoods Green HD for early bow season, then switch to Hardwoods HD for late bow and shotgun when the leaves have fallen.

    I swear...

I swear it never fails. I try to be careful at work because of hunting season and something always happens. This is what happens when you have your fingers in the wrong place and a piece of 50+lb of metal decides to shift. Needless to say...I just about wet myself. Only good thing to come out of this is, that it isn't broken, just smashed good. So I am hoping it heals up fast enough I can hold my bow for this weekend. If not, I'm sure I will find a way. Just had to post this in case anyone else wanted to vent their frustration when they do something stupid to keep them from hunting. This should be interesting.
  17. First off, I got my SOP Fastback harness today, and WOW is it nice. Ok to my question now. I got the harness and I got it a little big so it would fit nicely with all my camo on. I have run into a little problem. When I put the harness on and buckle the leg/groin straps, I have a lot of excess strap hanging. What do you guys do with this excess? Do you cut it off and burn the end with a lighter or do you tuck it in somewhere or something else? Looking for a tip or two on what to do with the excess strap, because I don't want it dragging the ground on the way to the stand.
  18. Re: moon phases... I too am a believer that the moon has an effect on deer movement. I didn't even bother to hunt the mornings this past weekend, but I did see deer in the evenings.
  19. I was just curious if anyone has the Arctic Shield H3 Bibs and if so, how warm are they? Are they worth the money is what I'm trying to ask. I just got the H3 parka and it looks and feels heavy so I'm sure it's going to be warm.
  20. Re: 10 point down!!! (PICS!) A HUGE congrats to you Nick. That is a dandy in my book.
  21. Re: Shot at a nice one tonight That is great news. Good Luck finding him in the morning and definetely keep us posted.
  22. Re: Shooter????? Where I hunt, that is not a shooter, but a monster. I would definetely be hanging that one on my wall if it came by.
  23. Re: Do you love your hoyt? Yes I do! I have the lower line model, the Ultramag, BUT it suits me just fine. It might be the cheaper model, but it still kills them just as dead. I haven't even had mine a year yet and I just don't see why I didn't make the switch sooner. I have never shot a Mathews bow so I can't say how they compare, but I'm sure they are pretty close.
  24. Re: TEAM 15 Well since everyone else is making sigs for their teams, I figured I'd make one for us. So if you like it and want to use it, just put the URL in your signature. Also, good luck to all this weekend. URL: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/huntrman/Contest/rutbusterssig.jpg
  25. Re: tree stands As of right now, I would place it in a well known travel route that heads to those acorns if there aren't any fields that still need to be harvested. Find a travel route to what they are eating, then it will be up to you.
