  1. I finally saw a decent shooter last night. He came in behind me and never gave me a decent shot. He was a tall tined 8 pointer. I tried grunting a little bit and even threw a snort wheeze at him, but he didn't bite. He either wasn't quite ready to fight or he has had his butt whipped a few too many times. Heading back out the next few day, hoping to get him in closer.
  2. I haven't checked in for a while. I've been out a few times and had some nice encounters. It's too bad they have all been basket racked 8's. I just don't know where the bucks we pass on year to year go to. It seems we pass on a lot of bucks that "will be nice next year". Well it's next year and I don't see any big ones. Just a little frustrated I guess. Going to get out there this week as much as possible. Those little ones that I have seen, have been moving during the day. Should be any day now that the big ones that are around get moving.
  3. I would agree with Martin. It's Pre-pre Rut. If the temps get cool this week, then next weekend and the following week should be some pretty good action.
  4. Congrats on the freezer meat. I spined a doe once and it is a pretty bad feeling. At least you got another arrow into her to ease any suffering.
  5. Pre-Rut seemed to have started here in West Central WI. Thursday and Friday night had the small bucks up and moving during legal hours. Then the weekend temps got back into the 60's and seemed to shut down the daylight movement. This weeks the temps are suppose to fall back into the 40's for daytime highs. Hoping that kick starts the big boys into getting up and moving.
  6. I sat all weekend and started to see the small bucks on their feet during legal hours. It got back inot the 60's on Saturday and Sunday, so movement was right at last light and even after dark. Saturday I got stuck in my stand until 7:30. This week temps are suppose to fall back into the 40's for highs. Hopefully that will get the bigger bucks up and moving.
  7. Congrats. That looks like a whopper of a buck. Nice picture, you know that's getting photoshopped right?
  8. I can't imagine somebody not spending $100 to protect thier life. Such a sad story that could have been avoided.
  9. Congrats. There is nothing like a nice clean 8. Also you need to thank that hunter that helped you out.
  10. Got out this weekend. It was windy as heck. I saw 1 doe on Saturday. This week the temps are suppose to drop. I got the rattlin' horns all shined up ready to go.
  11. I have the same problem as William, selective hearing. I hear just fine, just don't hear everything.
  12. My thoughts and prayers go out to Gary and his family. I am very sorry for their loss.
  13. Congrats to the new hunter.
  14. Congrats on the doe. Our temps have been in the 80's.

    Jackpot!

It's always nice when you fall into some extra/saved cash.
  16. I have a couple. My wife was in a wedding a couple weeks ago and the couple had a putting green set up. You had to sink the putt for them to kiss. My Brother in law and Sister in law reversed it. Everytime somebody clanked a glass, they called out a couple to kiss. After the couple kissed then they would kiss.
  17. Went out and sat Saturday night. I had some action but no shots. My FIL got a pretty nice 10 pointer that same night. My night's story is in my blog. It is warm up this way, high today of 80. I have seen a ton of deer on my way to work in the morning. I am not much of a morning person, but I might try and get out one of these mornings.
  18. Got a short sit in last night. I sat on the edge of a cut hay field and CRP grass field. Saw a few deer. I am looking foward to a hard freeze, get rid of those nasty bugs. The fill story is in my blog.
  19. Congrats to your buddy. That is a nice deer.
