  1. congrats on the button. It worked out for ya this time, but higher percentage if you wait for a better shot. Congrats again hopefully this opens the flood gates for your season.
  2. I would hardly never get pass throughs usings mechanicals, maybe like 25%. So far with slick tricks i'm 2 for 2 on pass throughs. One of the shots was exactly like one from last year, same stand, same yardage, same sized buck and my spitfire only penetrated 18 or so inches and my slicktricks blew right though. Mechaniclas open a nice hole but are not great when it comes to penetration, especially on angled shots.
  3. what kind of penetration are you guys getting with these heads?
  4. nice first day TG. Congrats. How many pts on that buck?
  5. definitely sweet not much diff then the katera. Right now i'm shooting an 07 Vectrix and if I buy anything it will be a new left over 08 katera.
  6. If you lived where I do you'd be insanely nuts

    Good Deal?

Wait until December or January and you will find brand new left over from last year top of line bows for only a couple hundred more especially on AT. I'd wait to see what deals can be had on new ones in the off season.
  8. Sounds like a fun hunt. I know how Jbeck can be about making noises in the woods, LOL.
  9. Thanks Jbeck. She dressed out at 91 lbs so I will have a little meat in the freezer. You should have seen the group of longbeards that came by, I was wishing it was late april and I had my 12 gauge. Next saturday I'm hopefully gonna get one of those bucks, then i'm off to OBX for a wk. Goodluck if you get out.
  10. ended up taking a 2.5 yr old doe and almost closed the deal on a decent little buck. First day with the new Hoyt so had to let one fly. Saw alot of deer today and a flock of longbeards.
  11. should be a nice cool morning, hopefully something is moving.
  12. them boys are taking some nice early season bucks. If I only had a farm in the midwest.
  13. congrats. Just a little better day then being at work
  14. IMO everyone prefers to shoot a fixed blade b/c they are plain better. Now alot of folks are on the lazy side and don't properly tune their bow so fixed heads do not fly right out of their bow and thus instead of messing with their setup they screw on a mechanical b/c it will most of the time hit with your field tips. I used to be in the mechanical group until I got tired of getting weak penetration on deer due to slight angles or hitting ribs etc. Don't get me wrong I got many deer with mechs and had pass throughs too, but overall I needed a change. Got my bow tuned and the slick tricks are flying great.
  15. Man get over it it's real hunting that stuff happens. Since your referring to Road trips how about waddell spining that deer last week, then marginal hit on that elk a few weeks ago, and another marginal hit on another whitetail. It happens to everyone. Do you really want to watch a video where everything is so perfect people get the idead of that's how hunting is. It's already perfect enough that they sit in a tree and 5 minutes later 20 deer come by one being a giant buck. Or hit the horns and 2 minutes later a giant comes in.
  16. Strikers are a great head and will fly like your field points if your bow is tuned. That being said I would go with the slick trick standards or mags. They fly awesome and are very sharp. Changing heads this late could give you fits if they are not flying great for you out of your bow. I usually experiment with that stuff in the spring or summer.
  17. awesome what do you get for getting on the show? I love to check out some of those clips.
  18. absolutely check where your broadheads are hitting at all different yards. I usually use one or two and keep shooting those on occasion. If I know they are flying where I want them then I mostly stick to the field points and maybe a fixed head here or there. I feel bad for the guys who can't tune their bow and change their sights around for their broadheads then are stuck shooting them. It's a must for me to have same point of impact for my field tips and BH's
  19. u got a good deal, my cnc shoots 5 and 6's real well, over 100 hits in the head and neck
  20. I updated from my 03 cam 1/2 to the Vectrix and let me say it was a worl of a difference. Newer hoyts are really nice.
