I think they have a cd you can plug in and drive down the roads and it gives you the tour that way. We had to do a field trip there back in high school and it was kind of lame.
Thompson center, personally though I'm way more accurate with my bow then I am with the flint. Just can't hold it still. One thing to know in the world of muzzleloading and it's called Thompson Center, cant go wrong
mechanicals will allow for you to get away with your bow not up to par on the tuning, fixed heads will not fly great out of bow that's not properly tuned. That being said up until this coming season I had always used spitfires b/c I was too lazy to mess with the bow to get it shooting fixed heads. Mech's wont penetrate as well with angled shots but usually leave a pretty good blood trail. I got the new bow shooting good and will be leaving the mechanicals behind and going with the slick tricks.
congrats on the bird, sorry about your luck John. Timbering runined my deer season a couple years ago. Thing is it should get real thick in there in the next couple years and deer should use it. I know it really improved the area I hunt.
thunderheads are decent broadheads and will get the job done. Thing is I could never get them to shoot consistent out of my bow. I'm going to go with slick tricks or strikers this year. There are a ton of good heads out these days, some you will pay alot more for then others.
Nice, were you live lining alewife? A few yrs ago when I was with the PFBC I came up and got the heads to age the fish from your tourney. Would love to learn the secrets to catching a few
they are not done, just sounds like theres been people messing around with things up on that state land. Maybe try close to home and see if you can't find a lonely one
It's def easier to scout when the woods are dead and wide open and easier to see. From here on out you will be able to see the main trails deer are using b/c of the heavy foilage a trail that is being used will be easily located b/c it will be stomped down. However you are going to be seeing deer in the summer patterns which may not be where they'll be come fall. Don't expect to find the "best" spot right away. Over a season of hunting the place smart and hard the deer will let you know where you'll need to be. It took me one full season to basically learn a new property I had access to and fine tuned my approach that second year. That being said though I still took deer.
goodluck John, from what I hear the birds are getting fired up again this week. I was going to get out tomorrow but with the rain forcasted I didn't go up to camp.
