...if anyone from this forum purchased HHH Great Gun Giveaway tickets from our web site? I am trying to keep track of purchases from various bulletin boards to see which BB participates the most. The trouble I am having is that I cannot always put a real name with a forum name. So far I do not believe anyone from this forum has purchased any, but I wanted to make sure. I do have some names that I cannot match with a forum name. Thanks

Re: Checking on Hunting Friends: That was purdy darn good. [ QUOTE ] I'll get out there again in the next few days, but I'm retired, so I can hunt every day. I'm in no hurry to fill my tags and sit with nothing to do. [/ QUOTE ] So I take it this will probably go on all season

Re: RAIN! Send it down here. It has not rained significantly in Dallasfor a good 3 months. Leaves on trees are drying up and falling and everything is DRY. If you turn on the sprinkler for 2 hours, the ground will be dry the next evening.

Re: How does a fly poop on the ceiling? I can't believe I am replying to this too. [ QUOTE ] they DO crap on the ceilings....go out in your garage, climb a ladder, look closely at your ceiling and you will notice little black dots......... [/ QUOTE ] That is probably not poop but vomit. The House Fly It picks up disease organisms on its leg hairs or eats them and then regurgitates them onto food (in the process of liquefying solid food).

Re: Name with that posting name? I'm Ken, 42, married with 2.5 kids J/K 2 fine kids really. My oldest, Michael, will be a fine hunter. I am a probation officer for Dallas County. I am also Chairman of the Board for Hunters Helping Hunters, Inc. and Assistant Cubmaster of my son's Pack. Man, that is boring.

Re: Tell me what is worse? [ QUOTE ] I'll tell ya what's more gruesome than a deer that has been hit by a vehicle laying on the side of the road with it's guts scattered all over and the buzzards eating away ...It's the person in the vehicle, slumped over the wheel, lifeless, because they swerved to miss a deer on the road and went off the road, and hit a tree. [/ QUOTE ] Of course you know that is our fault too for pursuing the deer with our hunting and making them leave the comfort of their forest homes. NOT I agree that giving the animals human attributes has really messed up many people and how they view the real world. As great an accomplishment making Bambi was for that time, I think that movie alone did alot of damage to youth and their perception of the real world.

Re: Oh my goodness...this is horrible! I heard 24 died. I saw live pictures from the channel 11 helicopter this morning. It was TOTALY emgulfed in flames. The exodus traffic had backed up so far emergency crews could not get there quickly. When the first truck got there, there was not one piece of the bus that was not in flames.

Re: GAS GOING WAY UP!!!!! FILL UP NOW! [ QUOTE ] yeah feast for them famine for us [/ QUOTE ] The article did say that the only reason it is "feast" right now for the refineries is that they are producing at a 100% which normally never happens. Supply and demand. Nothing I gripe about in this thread is going to change the situation. I'm with snapper on this one. I've heard enough.

Re: GAS GOING WAY UP!!!!! FILL UP NOW! ok, I have calmed down now But seriously, I have read that the issue is the refineries. not availablity of crude oil. There is one major one in Houston and one here in Dallas. The ones that were hit in N.O., are back on line I believe. But if the one in Houston is put out of commission by Rita, the supply and demand that was mentioned previously is put to the test so it is not necessarily price gouging - pure and simple. There are too many restrictions to make refining business profitable (therefore less refineries, less competition, higher prices). It's feast or famine in that business - right now it is feast, but for a long time, it was famine for that industry. These costly restrictions were for safety but mainly for clean air and such. So what do you want, lower gas prices or cleaner air (and such).

Re: GAS GOING WAY UP!!!!! FILL UP NOW! I tell you what is rediculous, I just went to check the HHH PO Box and saw that my wife's car was at a 1/4 tank. I went to the gas station and it looked like the seventies all over again. The lines were 5 to 6 cars deep at each pump and plastic bags on each regular unleaded pump - all that was left was Special and Super. This was at all 4 gas stations I tried. Next I am sure we will be hearing about fist fights at the gas stations. Yes, they are predicting strong winds and possible tornadic activity all the way up in Dallas through Sunday, but geez.

Re: father-in-law passed away * My son is 10. My father is 78 with Chronic Leukemia. My Dad and my son have been buddies and hunting buddies since he was 4. Things are going well for now. I have thought often of the time coming that you just experienced. I hope and pray we do as well as you and your son have. Father in Heaven, we celebrate for and are jealous of those that are in your presence experiencing Your love. We pray for strength and comfort for those of us who are experiencing loss until we are reunited in Your presence.

Re: PARENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [ QUOTE ] You have to let your kids experience things when theyre young. [/ QUOTE ] Hind site is 20/20. Dang, if I had it to do all over again, screw experiencing things... the consequences are costing me more now than when I "experienced" them (rollingmyeyes). [ QUOTE ] and this mom is nuts. [/ QUOTE ] Be careful about calling adults "nuts"... you become like them. I used to hate when my dad said, "ok, do what you want. Dad does not know anything. He's lived his whole life and did not learn anything". (I knew he was right, but I hated it). Now I have to refrain from saying the same thing. [ QUOTE ] Too much control, or "love" is not good, because it doesnt even give your kids a social life. [/ QUOTE ] My high school social life has got me squat over the years. No one cares after you leave high school how popular you were or were not. When it comes to getting a job and providing for your family, your employer doesn't give a squat about your high school social life. Many of the geeks and social outcasts I knew from high school are making WAY more money than I am and do not pass up an opportunity to let me know about it. They learned discipline. I learned how to goof off. They excelled; I was average ...but popular (but that depended on who you asked). You know what is funny, alot of guys that talk about not wanting to be controlled, ended up joining the military [ QUOTE ] And you know what linda, some trouble isnt that bad. It lets kids learn whats right and whats wrong [/ QUOTE ] YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG, COME ON! I am a probation officer, some trouble is usually ...bad. It follows you like luggage. I have 18 year old people on my caseload for "some trouble" and they get offended when I... have to "do my job" and say, "it's not like I am a criminal". I usually respond, "So, when I order your criminal history (RAP sheet), it'll be blank, right?" As a parent, I know that no matter what I do, my kids will find trouble, rebel and pay the consequences. My job is to help them minimize the consequences. "Oh, youth is wasted on the wrong people." - from the movie "It's a Wonderful life".

Re: Luckiest kid in the world... One of my favorite hunts on the Monster Buck videos is when Tyler took his first deer in Alabama because it almost mirrors my son's first deer hunt. I hope the best for Tyler and his future with Realtree.
