I understand that muggs... But I also understand that you do not cut off the hands of thieves...you do not stone women to death who have not reserved their chastity until marriage...you do not jail women who would dare show their face in public... American law is based in the Christian ethic...period. You don't place your hand on the Q'aran...you place your hand on the Bible. Bob

No disrespect, Muggs...but I think you are incorrect with that statement. The foundation of any country is the laws that govern it. Christian society is based in Christian laws (remember the Ten Commandments?)...Muslim society is based in Islamic doctrine. ..and one final thought... The President of the United States should only ever consider himself / herself an AMERICAN...not an African-American...not a Latin-American...not a White-American...not an Irish-American...but just solely, an AMERICAN. There to represent ALL the people, ALL the time. Do you think you have that in Obama? Bob

Did anyone pick up on the subliminal decree made by Obama? “…Hello, Chicago,” he begins. “If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time,” Obama says, “tonight is your answer.” “Its a long time coming, but because of what we did on this day, at this defining moment, change has come to America,” he says…” Who in American history said, “I have a DREAM…” When you figure that out, you will know who Obama considers to be your ‘founders’…because your actual founders, according to your history, gave this no consideration at all. From the text of the article: "Obama and his Democratic cohorts can make life miserable for gun owners without banning a single gun or taking one gun from a private owner. They can do it through legislation or through administrative rules from the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Division. Shouldn't gun owers pay for all that gun crime? How about a 500% tax increase on ammunition, as Obama supported in the past?[1] What about a $50.00 or $100.00 annual fee for every gun owned?" ...and there are other things they can and will do...especially if they use Canada as their model. Many firearms, including antiques, heirloom, and historically significant guns, were confiscated and destroyed when people, who were not avid shooters were forced to take a course to be in possession of the gun(s). They didn't want to take the course, so the guns were seized and destroyed...but according to the government, "that wasn't a confiscation"... It's a slippery slope... I hope you guys realize that actions always speak louder than words! Bob

Any animal on the ground, is worth 20 in the bush! If presented a second shot, I take it! Whether the first was a good shot or not, I'd rather know that the animal is retrievable, right away, than depend on tracking or somehow otherwise locating a wounded deer. A lung shot deer can still travel a fair distance...and they will hide in holes where a rabbit couldn't go. My hunting partner lost his deer last year for that very reason. It was DOWN but was thrashing, and rather than shoot it again, he waited, expecting it to expire. The deer thrashed itself right back up onto its own hooves, and was GONE. Tons of blood where it went down...only occasional drops 30 yards away. I'm an experienced tracker...but that trail petered out too quickly, and the deer was lost. He kind'a got a tongue-lashing over that one:mad:...but he'll never do it again! Bob

Poachers are a scourge !! ...but it didn't happen to be laying alongside the road, was it? Maybe hit by a car and then they or someone else came along and cut off the rack? ...or was it shot? Poachers are thieves!! Bob

I think you did an excellent job in the way you approached them! Did all the right things. When you go to visit... and you are going to go visit them, right?...be sure to ask about any livestock or outbuildings that are in the area, and if there are any other hunters they have given permission. If not, do they want you to report them to them, etc.? ...and when all is said and done...a gift of some venison is often appreciated, but a 'Thank You' letter will go a long way should you ever want to hunt there again. (maybe even flowers for the missus) Bob

A big city New York lawyer went duck hunting in rural West Virginia. He shot and dropped a bird, but it fell into a farmer's field on the other side of a fence. As the lawyer climbed over the fence, an elderly farmer drove up on his tractor and asked him what he was doing. The litigator responded, "I shot a duck and it fell in this field, and now I'm going in to retrieve it." The old farmer replied. "This is my property, and you are not coming over here." The indignant lawyer said, "I am one of the best trial attorneys in the US, and if you don't let me get that duck I'll sue you and take everything you own." The old farmer smiled and said, "Apparently, you don't know how we do things in West Virginia. We settle small disagreements like this with the West Virginia Three Kick Rule." The lawyer asked, "What is the West Virginia Three Kick Rule?" The Farmer replied. "Well, first I kick you three times and then you kick me three times, and so on, back and forth, until someone gives up." The attorney quickly thought about the proposed contest and decided that he could easily take the old codger. He agreed to abide by the local custom. The old farmer slowly climbed down from the tractor and walked up to the city feller. His first kick planted the toe of his heavy work boot into the lawyer's groin and dropped him to his knees. His second kick nearly ripped the man's nose off his face. The barrister was flat on his belly when the farmer's third kick to a kidney nearly caused him to give up. The lawyer summoned every bit of his will and managed to get to his feet and said, "Okay, you old coot now it's my turn." The old farmer smiled and said, "Naw, I give up. You can have the duck." :D

Got it !!...I think:confused: With all the turmoil in the market today and the collapse of Lehman Bros and acquisition of Merrill Lynch by Bank of America this might be some good advice. For all of you with any money left, be aware of the next expected mergers so that you can get in on the ground floor and make some BIG bucks. Watch for these consolidations later this year: 1. Hale Business Systems, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Fuller Brush, and WR. Grace Co. will merge and become: Hale, Mary, Fuller, Grace. 2. Polygram Records, Warner Bros., and Zesta Crackers join forces and become: Poly, Warner Cracker. 3. 3M will merge with Goodyear and become: MMMGood. 4. Zippo Manufacturing, Audi Motors, Dofasco, and Dakota Mining will merge and become: ZipAudiDoDa . 5. FedEx is expected to join its competitor, UPS, and become: FedUP. 6. Fairchild Electronics and Honeywell Computers will become: Fairwell Honeychild. 7. Grey Poupon and Docker Pants are expected to become: PouponPants. 8. Knotts Berry Farm and the National Organization of Women will become: Knott NOW! And finally... 9. Victoria 's Secret and Smith & Wesson will merge under the new name: TittyTittyBangBang Bob:D:D

I think his left antler was damaged as it grew...that is why the it is a bit awry. You can see where the point was / would have been. 1 1/2 year old deer...good body size. May want to wait a year to see what he does... He would be a cull-inary delight !! The doe is a nice one, at least 4 1/2. The length of her body versus her neck is what makes me think that. A 130# class doe. Bob

I guess I'll be (somewhat) the lone dissenter... I would've left a note for the trespasser to read...to the effect, "I have your decoys, they were in my way. If you want 'em, come and get 'em...Then we'll 'chat'..." If he shows, at least you would know who it was...a-n-d...unless he is completely witless, he probably knows you have them anyways. Probably a good chance he was lurking about and watched you pick them up. Bob;)

They call me 'Bob the Butcher'...'cause I've shown just about every one of them how to clean it, skin it, and butcher it. My cousin's husband is Pete...and his son, who is the spitting image of him is Re-Pete... Oh and Buckee...who was leading in that picture? You or the buck?...or was that during your errrr, ummmm...'hormone' period? Bob:D

HELP!!!! Taking two new goose hunters out this year!
Bob LeBlanc replied to drkillemquick's topic in Waterfowling
If they're Canada's you're hunting... Tell them, "Concentrate on the cheek patch...forget about the rest of the goose and take all of your leads off of the cheek." Bob;) -
I'd suggest you read the warranty information you should have received with the bow. As Leo said (sort of ), the lighter the arrow, the more energy the bow has to dissipate since it doesn't transfer to the arrow. This is hard on the bow and can cause damage over time...somewhat similar to 'dry-firing' the bow. The warranty info should tell you the minimum recommended arrow weight...typically 5 or 6 gr. per pound of pull. Kinetic Energy is a calculation, in foot pounds, that gives an indication of the arrows ability to penetrate. A light arrow at high speed can be equated to a heavy arrow at a slower speed, but you have to also remember that a heavier arrow will retain more energy downrange. The reason being, speed sheds fast...arrow weight never changes. Bob;)

Winchester Model 70 XTR Featherweight in .308, with a Simmons 2-7X scope. Had the barrel free floated, the bedding re-done, and the trigger pull set to 3 pounds...it shoots very well for a light barrel gun... Bob

That, right there, is sound, sound advice. If she has trouble with it now, YOU will have trouble with her somewhere down the road and will be forced to choose... Best to lay it out on the table right now...and make her choose. You may not like her decision, but don't worry, you can do yer cryin' in private, in yer treestand :D. Bob;)

...and it was also noted, when the question of the 'legitimacy' arose, that the writer HAD visited the post after the clarifications were requested. That was understood to mean that no answer(s) was forthcoming...and then, and only then, did a member decide to contact the Illionois DNR.
