Re: gave in to biskit-pressure I shot it again at dusk. I'm likin it. Jim do you use that Sno Seal stuff on yours to waterproof it?

Re: CHECK YOUR D-LOOPS!!! I was just thinking about that today. That seems like another potential thing that could screw up on me. take care of that lip.

Re: crested axis arrows(pic) love those

I finally did it. After a couple years of buddies telling how much they loved their whisker biskits I bit the bullet and put one on my bow this afternoon. I got a half dozen new Beman ICS Trebark Hunter arrows as well. Rest feels real good. I love the security of not having to worry about the arrow falling off the rest. My only concern. Have you guys who use them been busted by deer hearing you draw? My old rest was dead quiet due to the leather cover on the launcher. This is a little louder. Do the bristles get quieter after they get worn or do you guys try to draw early when you have deer coming in? definitely a great product.

Re: Peer pressure! OK I give in congrats. hope you kill a big'un with it.

Re: Face Paint I did a couple years ago. I was that classic HS camo compac with the gray, black, brown, and green. Burns the eyes if you get any in there from sweat or when rubbing iit off. that new stuff they sell in the tubes may be better. I'm thinking about getting a scentlok full headcover for this year so probably won't go with the face paint.

Re: rough week maybe I'm getting the bad luck out of the way now and I'll be hanging a nice buck on the pole this year. Hope so.

Re: rough week that's a bit of residue that stuck to the arrow from the friction of impact with the foam layered target I'd been shooting into. Some of the pieces is slivered a bit on the ends like a carbon arrow would normally do when broken. A couple of them are pretty clean breaks though. Definitely weird. I had recently put a TRU Speed Nock on in place of a standard nock to rotate the string and line up my peep. Perhaps that had too much pressure on the nock or something? I think I'm going to take that off as well and go back to a regular nock and loop. The KISS principle is what I'll go back to. Keep It Simple.

Re: rough week Definitely did not have my finger over the arrow.. I've got a shaky hunter on it and it's pretty much impossible to put my finger over the arrow from the grip up over the arrow.

Re: rough week I was drawn for probably 15 or 20 seconds looking over at my string loop. I do not remember actually touching off the trigger. The shop owner, who was probably 50 yards away behind the counter talking to someone said he thought he saw me touch the trigger. Either way it was either while at full draw or just after release that the thing exploded cuz I remember seeing some of it then closing my eye. Quite a shock.

Re: rough week This is the first problem I've had with the Goldtips. The shop owner who ran right over to the kapow sound of the exploding arrow says it's the 2nd time he's seen it happen with Goldtips, exploding on the draw that is. Not sure if it's the lock nocks causing too much internal pressure or what. I always check over my arrows and everything so it's a mystery to me what happened. They're only about a year old and rated for the poundage and setup I'm shooting. I'm just thankful to have my eye. After the intial shock of what happened I was quite relieved when I could see out of my right eye.

It's been a painful week of shooting for me. This happened last Sunday. I wasn't lined up right for the shot and accidentally hit the trigger early. Direct hit on the forearm. Today, while paper tuning at the indoor range down the road I was suprised by a Goldtip 5575 XT exploding in my face while drawn back and holding. I believe it was the third piece over that shot back and hit about 1/2 inch from my right eye. Three stitches later I'm done with my Goldtips and will be buying some Bemans or Eastons this week.

what kind of bow did you get? did you get it from a pro-shop? it's good to have somebody with experience there watching you to help you with your form. The biggest thing is practice, practice, practice.

Re: Broadhead sharpening be careful with that thing Jim. I have a similar sharpener I used to sharpen my ice auger blades a few years ago. Needless to stay I have a nice scar on my finger now. If you exert some pressure on that thing it can slide out from under you and next thing you know you'll be in a bloody mess. I prefer a diamond stone myself, but as long as you get em shaving sharp it's all good.

Re: New Rest Help!!! I imagine it could based on the design of the rest compared to the design of your old one. Probably just need to paper tune it and move it over a little bit

Re: question on arrows/point weight oops, misread the chart. That's the very one I was looking at, but I saw the numbers on the top and I thought it was draw weight, not arrow length. My bad. Looks like I'll be sticking with my 100 gr. points. thanks ranchand99.

I just got a new bow and plan on shooting 70 lb. for hunting this year. According to Goldtip, in order to use my existing 5575 XT arrows I should use an 85 gr. broadhead rather than my exiting 100 gr. heads or upgrade to a 7595 arrow to use the 100 gr. heads. Does anyone shoot 5575's with a 100 gr. head at 65 - 70 lbs? I guess I'm wondering if I can get away with the 100 gr. point or if I'll be forced to change. Obviously I'll have to test the flight myself. What kind of things, other than erratic flight, might I see that would indicate this is indeed a problem?

Re: Muzzy the ones I bought new a couple years ago came with practice blades. They are shaped a little different and are rounded off.
