Thanks, I do use the sling on my ladder stands but on the climber this is not an option. I make sure to raise and lower it slowly not to hit anything. Was just trying to find out how others do it and how they lower it so the barrel does not go down first and stick in the ground. Thanks for the info.

I hope this is the correct forum. How do you get your gun up the tree after climbing up? I mostly hunt in a climber but also hunt out of a ladder stand. In the past I always used a string to pull it up barrel first (I know, not very smart), but I made sure it was unloaded and the chamber open. My concerns (besides shooting myself) are not knocking the scope out of line when lowering it to the ground and how do you keep things out of the barrel when lowering it if you tie to the stock like most safety statements tell to. Please give me a detailed way or website that shows a safe way to do this. Almost forgot, if using a climber I don't like leaving my gun under the tree just in case something falls and hits it. Thanks!

Just over a week till gun season. I know I'll get a doe, just haven't had a good shot at a buck yet. I have several on camera, just can't get a clean shot with the bow. I'll post again next week. -
What is the best Climbing Treestand To Buy?

I have the summit viper and love it, that is when I get it back from my brother long enough to use it! It is the only one I have ever used or owned, but I have no complaints about it. -
I can't find where it says deer hunting anywhere on the website. My weekend sucked. The only time I saw any deer was on the way out of the field! I didn't hear very many shots this year either.

Why is it you see deer all the time, except when you are hunting! Spent most of the weekend in the stand and nothing gave me a clear shot. Some good news, as I was leaving the field, my truck lights hit several deer and 3 nice bucks on the farm (no I was not spotlighting which is illegal, the road goes through the middle of the field and makes a turn in the middle, which is where I saw the deer.) Bad news, the bucks where on the side of the farm next to the road and I chose to go to the back part. If I had hunted my stand near the front they would have walked right past me! AGHHH! Anyway, I put a camera out and will check it Sat. after my morning hunt. I'm still trying to pattern them and hope to get one this weekend. Only 3 weeks till modern gun season! -
WOW!!! That IS the best trail pic ever! It should win some type of award! Might want to send that one in to cuddeback!

Yes, I've been writing every so often. We have a football game tonight, but I will be out in the woods for a week starting tomorrow morning. It's our Fall break! I'll keep you up to date on what happens. -
I have friends that go to canada every year (haven't saved the money to go myself yet), but the geese and duck I hunt in Paducah is not half as good as Canada. You can get into some really good duck hunts in Paducah, but a decent goose hunt would most likely have to take place at a hunting club there.

There are several wildlife reserves in the tri-state area there. Mostly have mallards, then wood, but we do get some other species like pintails. As for feeding, with all the farm land they have a variety of grains to eat, but with most places anything flooded works great.

Where is this located and how much is he asking?

I am also close to Paducah, roughly 1hr half away. We hunt waterfowl in the area a lot. If there is anything I can do or if there is anything you want to know about the area, just ask!

Let us know if you get any pics. -
The diesel seemed to work some, but I guess I didn't let the fuel soak long enough before I set them on fire. It doesn't matter now, we are under a no burn ban since we haven't had any rain for over a month. Good news, my father might be buying a dozer and/or a trackhoe.

Nice bucks Spanky and I also want one of those grills. Well, I have seen some bucks, just none close enough. Will be off next week so I should be able to get some serious hunting in. -
Sorry, but I know where there is 230 acres of land for sale in Western KY. Roughly 100 acres of forest and the rest cropland for around $3000 an acre.

Funny, we must have the same server at our schools. Last year I couldn't see anything, but this year I can see a few pictures. Most the time I have to come home to see anything.

I like the tat, even though I would never get one. Second, I love the sig Moon, you have a skill there man. Now for my hunting. I spent opening weekend chasing hunters from my lease. This evening, I waited to see who was parked on the land and it was three hunters I had to run off of it, next time I told them I will call the warden. I have also found out people have been baiting with corn and apples while setting up cameras. Not to mention, glassing the area to shoot from their vehicle. Hopefully next weekend I be able to get out and enjoy some hunting with some cooler temps coming to the area. I did get to watch to young bucks play fighting in the back yard with some other deer around them, but it was too dark to see how big. -
ok, I guess I was just looking too deep into the issue. Thanks!!

WOW, did anyone catch what Jimmie Johnson said during the post race interview? Am I behind or missing something, maybe out of the loop? Are they going to be on the same team next year? In regards to Tony he says this "he hasn't won this year, it's Tony, he's in the orange car I'm in the Lowe's car, what's going to happen. Then I'm like well he's going to be teammates with us next year, so maybe nothing. But either way Tony drove his butt off........"

I really like Trail's End. I guess that's my vote. No deer this morning, but I'm heading back out this evening.
