  1. Re: Western Kentucky deer hunting If you are hunting that much private land and going after those big boys, I would pull every trick out of the bag. Good luck and if you have a day to kill stop by Uncle Lee's. I'm sure you probably have already been there, but if not, it's a privately owned hunting store. Make sure you check out their buck board and past winners in the back.
  2. Re: Central KY Deer Hunting Welcome Loomis, I agree with everything that has been said so far. I have found numerous rubs and scraps over the ML weekend. Also, as stated above, I have noticed bucks getting hit on the roadways. Just this week, about a 110 class buck was hit next to the school. I have a feeling this is going to be a good year in KY.
  3. Re: \"Leroy\" in Mid-October..... AAH, I think you should let him walk one more year. BTW, how do you get there from KY?
  4. Re: Team 8 Well, from what I hear you have some good meat in the freezer. Never had any elk, but have heard it is a lot better than deer. Black powder season came and went for me with not luck. I wasn't really able to hunt since it is only for the weekend and they were harvesting the corn fields. Three weeks till gun season!!!!
  5. Re: BEST GAME CAMERA Hey guys, it seems everyone is in favor of a homebrew, but maybe someone could tell him where to find the information on making a camera from scratch. Or, maybe he's like me and wouldn't know where to start even with directions. My suggestions: 1) Tell him where and how to make a homebrew. 2) Tell him the best gamecam on the market in his price range.
  6. Re: Team 8 you have a point punkinslinger, I shouldn't wait till the end for the doe just in case I don't have any luck that day. I'll get the meat and wrap up 5 sure points, then upgrade if possible.
  7. Re: Team 8 WTG!!! Man this team is in high gear! I'll be trying my luck this weekend. Middle school football wrapped up Tuesday night and black powder comes in! I know for a fact I can put 5pts up everyday I hunt, but I'll be waiting for the big one until the end. We are definitely living up to our hammertime name.
  8. Re: Team 8 [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Hey guys, why did our score drop from 64 to 59? Anyone know? [/ QUOTE ] YES!!! Infact I do know why.... GROUND SHRINKAGE!!!!!!...LOL (at least with my buck) [/ QUOTE ] ROFLOL, that's a good one!
  9. Re: Team 8 Hey guys, why did our score drop from 64 to 59? Anyone know?
  10. Re: Team 8 Sorry I haven't checked back in lately. I have been working on getting my yard and food plots sowed. We had a dozer running for 4 day last week and I was working 16 hour days trying to get my house finished up so we can make the move before gun season comes in. We're close, but still have some hardwood floors and the stone fireplace to lay. Keep up the good work team! I love the sig!
  11. Re: Lawn & Food Plot, is it possible? My house is roughly 1700 feet off the main highway. I have a 35 acre hay field in front between my house and the road way, 66 acres of woods behind and on the sides of my house before it either hits more woods to one side, a swamp and woods behind it, or corn and bean fields on the other side. I plan on sitting on the back screened porch, drinking coffee, and watching the deer and turkey feed.
  12. Re: Lawn & Food Plot, is it possible? Thanks Anderson3. Your second paragraph is exactly what the wife suggests. She wants a nice yard up around the house, and half way to the woods she wants to switch it over to a food plot. She loves the wildlife as much as I do. She does care if I only clip the food plot once or twice a year. Anyone else have any suggestions on the grass types or food plot?
  13. Hey all, I have a couple of questions. I have read many posts about food plots and know what to plant this time of year. However, I feel I have a unique question. I have a house with a lot of woods behind it and cleared out about 2 acres for a yard and a food plot. #1) What is a great grass to plant here in KY that stays green and provides a great looking yard year round? #2) When the yard stops and the food plot begins, what is good to plant so I can watch the deer and turkey out my back windows year round? Those are my two basic questions. If you can provide a yard mix that is also good for the wildlife that's a plus, but making the wife happy with a pretty yard is a must. I will begin planting this Thursday or Friday before the rain hits this weekend. Thanks for any help!
  14. Re: Team 8 WTG Guys! I am so pumped about this hunting season. I'm heading out to check the game cams this weekend. Hopefully I'll get some buck pics and share them with the team.
  15. Re: Team 8 I'm up for anything on the sigs. I'm just pumped we are on the board again! I'll be hitting the woods hard once our football season is up at the end of the month. Great work team!
  16. Re: Team 8 WTG!! Now we're on the board and ready to roll! Good Luck team!
  17. Re: Team 8 "Team Hammertime" works for me. I'm 30, married, and as you can tell by my name a teacher, but also a football coach. I love football but it does cut into my hunting time.
  18. Re: Team 8 Hey Team! Not had a chance to hunt due to coaching football, but I should be able to hit the woods in a couple of weeks. Don't have a clue for a team name and I'll be thinking about it. However, I'm open to anything. Good luck Team!

  20. Re: Neighbor\'s Land, what to plant now? [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] It's about 450ft long by 100ft wide across the corner of their field next to my woods. [/ QUOTE ] Man, that's one wide utility! I'd go with Strut or Dogdoc's suggestion. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, we had to have a backhoe dig it to get the required depth. With the neighbor being nice enough to let us go across their land, we disc up more to make it more level and blend in better.
  21. Hey guys, I had to run my utilities across a neighbor's field, which has a lot of weeds on it, is in poor condition, and is mowed off twice a year to keep it from growing up. Now that the utilities are in, I am responsible for sowing some type of seed; they really don't care as long as it is green and a perennial. My question, what do I plant this time of year that will be best for the deer and turkey? Hey, I might as well get something good out of my labors. It's about 450ft long by 100ft wide across the corner of their field next to my woods. Any help is appreciated! Mark
  22. Re: Red X Help, I\'ve had enough! Thanks for the ideas Tominator. I'll have to try some of those. It's hit or miss as to which pictures. On some posts I might see a pic or two, then some have the red x. It happens on new as well as old posts.
  23. OK, I need help, I can't take it anymore. There used to be a time, not too many months ago, that I could view every single picture, icon, avatar, etc. Now, there are some of these things not showing up, but only have a red x. It is very frustrating trying to open threads, excited about the topic and wanting to see the pictures only to get the red x. Can anyone tell me why this happened or how to fix it? I'm almost to the point of not returning to the forums. I mean think about it, you see the most interesting heading, you click on it, and BAM! a red x or x's. Please help.
  24. Re: Red X\'s? I can't see any of Gus's pics (skunk, coon, owl, fox on Realtree, but I can see his pics if I click on his link to another site.), the Funny Pic, the First Cat Pic., and I can't see the first posting of wall of Antlers, but I can later in the post where it shows up again by KirkV. I can see the up close doe and Nice IL bucks.
  25. Re: Red X\'s? Yeah, I see the red x's with the warning. I once could see all the pictures and never any red x's. Now it's the other way around. All red x's and no pictures.
