  1. What's up team?!? Our season starts this Saturday and I have my bow ready to go. As for a name, I am ok with just about anything. I'll leave that up to you. I have been watching a really nice 10
  2. savage 30-06 with a 10x40 simmons scope. Haven't missed yet.
  3. Take her, my wife learned to shot a 22 and the first time in the stand she took a nice 11pt buck with a 30-30. She had on tennis shoes and a pink shirt! I was so ticked that we wouldn't see anything and she spotted this buck walking in and made the shot. Just be warned, most women can out shoot men...they have a more steady hand.
  4. quick question, what is the purpose of the barrel? would it work without the barrel around the stump?
  5. We are doing well. Had our first child a week ago today, a baby boy weighing 7lb 6.5 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. Winchester eventually passed away this past winter. The spinal damage was just too much for him to fully overcome. We tell people all the time how wonderful you were to help us out the way you did. The invitation is still open if you are ever coming by this way. Thank you.
  6. I only killed the ones in the house, outside I just move them away from the house unless its a copperhead, then it dies! I am not really sure what type of snakes, but I know they are not black snakes, copperhead, garden, or green snakes. They only bother me if they are in the house or poisonious.
  7. Thanks dogdoc! My wife loves your lab in the pic.

    Snakes!!

Over the past week I have killed or removed about 10 snakes from either my garage, driveway, or yard. My house is 3/4 surrounded by woods and I'm looking for any information on how to deter them. Is there something sold that is cheap or does anyone have any tips on how to keep snakes away from the house? Thanks.
  9. Not sure if this is the correct place, but the stumps are in the way of me managing my land. Does anyone know any tips for speeding of the decomp of stumps? I have several I would like to remove, and a dozer or stump remover is too expensive. Thanks for any advice.
  10. I bought my first ever climber last year and it was the viper. Only trouble I have is being able to use it! I can't keep it long enough to hunt, either my father or brother have it out hunting!!! ;-)
  11. Rifle season comes in this Sat. and I am really pumped. I have found a ridge line that is being worked. It is covered in scraps and rubs, too many to count of both. Anyway, I hope to have some good news in the next couple of days.
  12. Also, blue tongue is the disease cattle can get, deer cannot, according to Kentucky Afield and the Wildlife Biologists that were on there. Blue tongue gets its name from the swelling of the tongue that makes it look blue from lack of blood flow. Deer get hemeroghic (spelling) disease which is close, but not the same disease.
  13. I have always heard the fall is the best time to lime and fertilize. Most suggestions above hold true for food plots. However, be careful in the summer not to add too much and burn up the grass. Also, if it is for your yard, it is best not to fertilize anytime other than the fall. That will keep the grass from growing as much and requiring more mowing.
  14. Is there any proof or your beleif that certain color lights do or do not spook deer when walking to your stand? I did a search and only found a thread with members saying which light they used, but I can't find any info as to which light would be better to use: regular, red, blue, green, etc. Also, are you less likely to spook deer with or without a light? Any help is appreciated!
  15. Had two NICE bucks walk by this morning, but never presented a clean shot! I'm really excited about hunting this year, things are starting to heat up. As for a name, I'm fine with anything.
  16. I think it is all BULL! NASCAR is the next WWE and they will start losing fans with all the stupid crap they pull. NASCAR's Rule Book: RULE #1 NASCAR has the right to interpret any and all of their rules.
  17. Hey team, just checking in! Deer season isn't looking too good around my area. We have what the locals call blue tongue really bad this year. In some farms they have found up to 30 dead deer. Haven't seen my bucks in the past couple of weeks either. Bow season came in the first of Sept. but I won't really get into it until it cools down in Oct. I'll leave the name up to you guys.
  18. Not a stupid question at all. I didn't have a clue until FFA. It looks at the slope for erosion purposes, the type of soil, depth of the layers, and some other things I’m not too sure about. They also have range judging, which is mostly done out in western states, and home site.
  19. Yeah, that's what I was talking about. Really weird looking and we couldn't figure out what it was.
  20. thanks! It was really driving us crazy trying to figure it out.
  21. Hey, just returned from a trip out west and was passing through Springfield when we noticed almost all the tree tops were broken out. At first we thought tornado, then realized no signs or houses were destroyed. One thinks a hailstorm and another thinks a heavy snow when the trees had leaves. Anyone live around there know? thanks.
