  1. Wow, that's impressive! Here's to the next 100!
  2. Pretty awesome! Congrats!
  3. Oh, man...too many to go through. One day I called in 12 different Toms/Jakes, but none would get close enough...just madness that morning. Then I went out the next morning, called one in to 20 yards, shot it, and went home. The previous morning was more fun than the day I killed one! Just last year I had two crazy ones...with a buddy and surrounded by four gobbling their heads off, each at 50-60 yards on four sides of us for probably 30 minutes...couldn't get it done on any of them. We named one of them Laryngitis because he sounded like a 50 year smoker. After they moved off, walked up the ridge to another gobbling bird that also hung up, so I held up a turkey fan my buddy had, crawled about 20 yards through some weeds, and killed that one. Later that year, I was hunting with my dad at separate parts of the farm. Heard a shot from over by Dad, and only one, so knew Dad killed. Worked my way toward him from behind and right of him only to see a strutter in the field right in front of his blind. As I'm game planning getting close enough to this bird to shoot him myself, BOOM! Turns out the shot was a neighbor, and got to see Pop blast a giant. Caught me off guard, and it really caught him off guard when I started running at it after he shot! Good question! Ryan
  4. That's hilarious, man. Thanks for sharing!
  5. Well done! I'm in Illinois as well...haven't been out yet, but figured they'd be going nuts yesterday. Congrats! God bless, Ryan
  6. Very cool. Makes me excited to get my kiddos their first birds in a few years! Congrats!
  7. Yep, I agree...been reducing the amount of stuff I carry every year, but end up covering quite a bit of ground, and our birds are ornery, so I still carry a pretty good handful of things to throw at em to see what works. Thanks for the replies!
  8. I've used the Primos Gobbler Vest for several years, and it's great for storage, but fairly bulky and not sure I need all the extra weight. I'll have 2 pot calls, 4 strikers, several mouth calls, couple locator calls, shells, tags, Kleenex, and a couple other small things. Thinking about a Knight & Hale Run & Gun. What do you all like? God bless, Ryan
  9. Wow...very nice! Thanks for sharing.
  10. I'll take a stab at a different part of your question...someone said to look for different land features. To clarify, if you can put yourself in a position where your land contains or is between bedding (thick timber), food (crop fields or pastures where you could plant flood plots), and/or water, that's the goal. If your land has all those things, even better. I live in west central IL. Land prices down here have loosened up a bit for recreational ground. Don't know what you're looking to spend, but deer hunting doesn't get much better than in IL. After that, I'd be looking at WI like you mentioned, if I lived in Chicago. Also, I don't know a ton about Indiana, but it seems like an overlooked state for deer hunting. Might be worth a look at some real estate websites to see what prices are and maybe talk to a few rec ground real estate agents over there. All the best, Ryan
  11. Holy smokes...not much left to fight with!
  12. Tried the T3s for the first time a couple of years ago and haven't had a reason to switch. Seem to fly nicely, and T-Bone ain't kiddin when he talks about the red carpet treatment!

  14. What a pig...kudos for keeping his composure and making the kill shot!
  15. I've used the blue G5 Meta for the last few years and I'm getting a new bow. Planned to get the same thing in the green, but figured I'd ask. Thanks! God bless, Ryan
  16. About 90% sure I am actually getting a new one this year. Looking hard at the Elite Energy 32. Going to put a QAD HDX on it, and I haven't decided on sight, stabilizer, or quiver. Only Gold Tips get shot through this guy's bow, so that's an easy decision. God bless, Ryan
  17. Several districts around us give the first Friday of shotgun season off since so many students and district employees weren't there anyway. God bless, Ryan
  18. I've used them for a few years now and have had pretty good luck with them. Love the convenience more than anyting. Welcome to the forums! Lot of guys to get great info from on here! God bless, Ryan

Ya I have a TC Encore and have thought about getting the slug barrel, but to get the barrel, scope, and have the scope mounted would cost more than just getting the H&R new. Always food for thought. I was taking a look at the Savage 220 as well. Thanks for that suggestion! Best, Ryan
